It's pretty pathetic that people have waited since the start of the year for an iMac update.

Some of us aren't in a hurry. We want a new iMac, but so long as the impression is "it's just a few weeks away" we're content to wait. Our old hardware still runs, we have other things to do, and each one of us just knows it's gonna come out 15 days after we break down and buy a 2011 iMac, so we'll wait a few more days. ...and those few more days add up. Fretting over the continuing non-introduction takes on a life of its own.

I couldn't have said it any better.

Not everyone is in the same boat as you for me as example an iPad is my main machine yes I can't do much on it so I can't use it to hold me back.

yep. it would be quite tiring to hold your hand up while editing things. I prefer resting my arms.

Well, that's why the redesign right? If there will be a touch screen, they will make it so that you can adjust the screen level and angle. On top of that, having a touch screen doesn't mean you need to throw away other ways of input such as mouse and keyboard. You just use it when it's necessary. btw, that is how traditional painters did in the past, sticking their arm out to the canvas. Would there be any reason why people nowadays can't do that?

No news, nobody writing about possible dates, not even the hope of a light at the end of the tunnel ... it's just wait and see ! This is really so distressing ...

I can say Oct 9 as many times as you like, but it's not going to make the earth revolve around the sun any faster. :D

I know I feel the same, there must be some rumours and dates unless Tim Cook wasn't lying when he said that Apple were doubling down on security. I find that hard to believe though as the iPhone was completely leaked before release.

You're such a cold-hearted machine !!!

Fratè, at least with each passing day we get closer to that date. I just hope he is right, or that he's being too pessimistic. It would suck if even Oct 9 is too optimistic and it comes and goes.

And mind you, I _AM_ getting an iPhone 5 when Vodafone IT starts offering it (even if it's a pain*) and, if it's decently priced, even an iPad mini. I just need/want a new decent machine.

* Not only I have to pay a termination fee, but they can't even transfer my current number to a new contract. I have to temporarily move to another carrier, say Wind, and then go back to Vodafone. E che c…!

All right lads. Today wanted to grab the mid 2011 27" iMac in my local PC World store (Ireland). Genius advised me not to take it now because it is going to be refreshed very shortly. I was also told that the current mac lineup will be available at the discounted price of at least 150-200 euro less. Interesting isn't it ? Wouldn't say that the shop assistants know much more then we do, however they must know something if they saying so to the ordinary customers. Fingers crossed....

I think its safe to say that we won't be seeing any new products (whether that be the iPad Mini, iMacs or rMBP 13") till the last 10 days of October. Apple tends to hold a conference call for their quarterly results in mid-october - its safe to say anything new would be announced after it - as was the case in 2009 when new iMacs were released right after this conf call.

I'd say at least a couple weeks after ipad mini actually ships. Apple is very distracted right now.

It has to be later because 25th sept is right after the iPhone launch weekend.. They're too busy to introduce another new product :/

They are usually busy for an entire 6 week period from the day an iPhone is launched so next week is really going to be no difference. Sadly ;(

I highly doubt that will happen, OSX is not optimized for touch, and gestures are done using the magic trackpad.. So doesn't make too much sense at this time, maybe in 10.9 but who knows..

As far as iMac delays go, I'm thinking Apple is waiting to deplete iMac stock before releasing a new model? My guess is iMac sales are dropping because of Macbooks..

Whatever the case I hope it's released sometime this year..

I am believer in this date. If its not next Tuesday, we get 5 more chances in October.

It goes like this: 25th, 2nd, 9th 16th, 23rd. If its not out by that day and we've heard no new info then I give up with the iMac im afraid!

Just saw on Digitimes that Apple might be getting rid of the entry-level iMac, I really hope this isn't true, I'd hate to have to pay $1499..
