Well, MacRumors has been very quiet when it comes to parts leaking for the June release of a Macbook. What is everyone's thoughts?

Well, perhaps:

1) No part leaks because nothing is really going on and we'll not get updates on June; or

2) No part leaks because nobody had access to these leaks yet.

The lack of part leaks doesn't necessariliy mean that there won't be an upgrade on June.

----------

If it isn't launched at WWDC (either by Tim Cook or other staff from Apple, honestly for me it doesn't matter who announces it and how, but WHEN) then it won't have new features or changes  (perhaps later).

Bloomberg won't risk its reputation (as other sites) announcing such an huge upgrade without having a very, very reliable source.

Keeping the launching date a secret is a well known and good practice from Apple (as well as other companies).

Announcing at this stage a press event before or after WWDC would be a clear sign to the market and consequently the current line sales volume would drop.

At this point I seriously doubt that Apple will release a new MacBook Pro without a redesign and a Retina Display. After the Bloomberg report these rumors really seem like something serious. I may be wrong, though...

New from Google Labs...

apparently Google Irony development is well underway...!

There was quite a few leaks for the 2008 update, but looking back at the last iMac and Mac Mini redesigns there was few if any. So it's possible Apple are just more careful these days.

If it's not getting released until mid june, after 8 years, apple will loose me as a laptop consumer.

Having given away mid 2010 15 MacBook pro last month to wait forever for a new release is not pleasing myself.

In repression, i'll certainly Buy An ivy bridge top notch Windows laptop and, like most people who is thinking the same, try to get used again and BE happy!

I heard waiting for something these days is too hard. First world problems...

In my opinion it's only yourself who is to blame for this, not Apple. Apple haven't led you to believe a new release was due out any earlier than now, or even at any point in the future, it's yourself who jumped to that conclusion and decided to foolishly give your other MB away.

My laptop has almost given up. I've transferred as much as possible onto an external HD. I'm hoping the rest will survive in time for when the new MBP is released. If it breaks and I lose everything before the release then it's my own fault, not Apples!

When I bought my 15" unibody late 2008 there was no 1680x1050 resolution available. As I defintely want some more 'screen estate' with this refresh, I was having the same worries as cmChimera about the upcoming 15" retina display.

After reading about Apple's recent patent filing for a Retina-ready resolution-independent OS X, I think they won't 'pixel-double' the 1680x1050 resolution, but that won't matter.

The current options are:
13" 1280x800 - 113 pixels per inch
15" 1440x900 - 110ppi
15" 1680x1050 - 129ppi
17" 1920x1200 - 132ppi

I think the Macbook Pro's retina displays will all be around 230ppi:
13" 2560x1600 - 226ppi (1280x800 x2)
15" 2880x1800 - 220ppi (1440x900 x2)
17" 3360x2100 - 239ppi (1680x1200 x2, so no doubling of the current resolution)

With this kind of pixel density we'll have sharpness to spare and OS X will provide some 'screen modes' to choose from. That way you can trade some of that ultimate sharpness for more screen estate. As the filing explains, Apple found a way to do this without sacrificing crisp borders of GUI objects.

For the 17" these screen modes would allow for the same screen estate without doubling the current resolution what makes it easier to preserve graphic performance.

I don't want to trade sharpness for real estate. I want to the real estate I have currently to be sharper. If they don't make a 3360x2100 option or more for the 15", I'll probably have to buy a 17".

Are you saying that, for example, you can have the highest ppi ratio but your screen will be outta wack with black boarders top/bottom/sides etc but you'll have a sharper image, and if you want your full screen real estate back you'll have to switch ratios? Maybe I misunderstood... but I don't know who would want a sharper screen if you sacrifice the "useable" screen real estate lol.

I'm thinking about buying an Alienware.... What is the feedback you can give me?

It's already coming with ivy bridge extreme and radeon 7970, which is a real Beast!!!

What size because 14 are only 900p .. You have to go for 17/18 to get 1080p. They don't make 15 anymore.

I'm not sure what calendar you guys use in Brazil, but in most other countries, it's about a week until the end of May, so June really isn't that far off.

Best Buy have dropped their prices on the Macbook Pros to $100 off. Sign of clearing inventory. Discounted Macbook Pros, along with the Bloomberg article (which I would bet was a controlled leak by Apple) practically points to a WWDC release.

Oh, and about people whining we haven't seen any leaks. Remember Apple will have tightened up considerably since 2008 now they're flavour of the month in the eyes of tech industry and the media, and especially after the fiasco of the lost iPhone 4.

And of course, take into account that the vast majority of the Macbook Pro production is automated through a fabricator, made in a different factory (different supplier?) and requires less labour force to manufacture the Macbook Pros and these are very reasonable reasons why we haven't seen an exposed leak to the general public.

Also, Apple sold, what 20-30 million iPhones last year while they only sold 500,000 15" Macbooks. Much easier to keep an eye on that.

Case vendors also pay substantial bribes to factory employees to smuggle parts out so they can have cases ready on day 1. There isn't really much of a market for form-fitting Macbook cases.

I was just going to put this, iOS devices are the most popular which means the part leaks for them are the hot commodity not MacBooks.

And they're smaller, so it's easier to "smuggle" them out and etc. Imagine someone trying to hide a Macbook case under their clothes :D

I tried to talk to my friend who works at an Apple retail store today but he couldn't answer the phone and, after a long while, he's sent me a whatsapp msg telling me that he would stay until late of the night working, receiving new iprodutcs and registering them.

I then asked If the new pros were coming and he said: who knows!? Gotta go now, bye!

Since then i'm praying!

It seems a little early to be shipping them already, right?

That's a little preposterous to say the least. Maybe you should have waited for the new model to come out before giving your laptop away. Then you could still be pleasing youself. Get a life, man.

I need leaked parts!

Át least, keep the same design and do a spec bump sooner than the Wwdc!

It's 3 weeks to WWDC and possible release?!! How can it be so hard to just wait?

I really hope your a spoilt child and not a grown man/woman...

You'd rather have the same design and a spec bump for the sake of not being able to wait 3 more weeks?

Wow no words. It kind of saddens me there are adults out there who are as patient as a 5 year old. =/

It's not a question of being patient, but a question of needing a laptop to continue being productive!

Cant work with a MacBook Air 11!

And i need a new pro (don't accept an old highed priced one) to continue developing my job!

Sorry, but i don't admit a product from the top technology company of the world, which has privileged relationship with Intel and most of other companies of the world, take so long To release a laptop from the new current generation!

That's where my anger sits! As a good lawyer, i wish i had clients with so much patience and so less demanding like you! Definetely, i would BE so much less stressed!

Probably shouldn't have given away your 2010 Pro then.....That's YOUR fault.
