It will come out, patience!

Relax Everyone...it WILL come out soon, almost certainly at WWDC since its the next event. I read that a new Macbook Pro and iMac were benchmark tested online, and the numbers/results don't exist on current MBPs. I'm sure you all saw this too....quit freaking out...white people problems! haha

I too have been waiting, and since last November. I can't wait to chuck my Dell POS... (that I gave up using when I got my new iPad :D)

I just don't understand!

So many on here are saying they can't wait. and they have been waiting since Feb '12, oh my... I have had a '08 2 piece white MacBook perinien (SP don't care) and have been waiting for the re design for 1.5 years. I replaced one HD and 2 keyboards while waiting. My HD gratefully had just time machined 1 week before. This comp has been AMAZING and apple bought my loyalty! I will still keep it as my classroom computer, because our school has no computers to give that were built in in the 3rd millennium. I also think it is odd that the 15" MBP will be lighter or the same weight as my current model with 2x the battery and 4x the geekbench, but actual use will be an order of 10-15x my current speeds.

As for RobPinto - I am sorry for your loss of the job, but you gave away your MBP and now you want to buy an Alien for 2-3 weeks and then fly to the US and buy one if it releases on the day of WWDC. You need help my friend professional help!

I've been waiting a year and haven't even got a laptop, my first thread here was asking for information on the Macbooks performance in preparation for buying one to use for my degree!

just made me a sick custom machine at sager.com.. all for $2400.. so that's my budget Apple... let do this.

I know full well I wont get things like BD burner, 16Gb of 1600 memory, 750 hybrid SSD.. etc etc.. out of a MBP.. but it's ok.

Bloomberg confirmed it. That's pretty much the most solid proof we can get until they actually announce it, since more often then not Bloomberg's information are controlled leaks coming directly from Apple at strategic dates.

Bloomberg's confirmations have pretty much 100% accuracy and include:
- September launch for the iPhone 4S
- March launch for the new iPad
- Retina Display and LTE in the new iPad
- AAPL dividends for investors
- White iPhone 4 at the end of April
- Apple TV 2 on September 1st

Just to name a few.

I'm pretty sure even product spy shots have been proven to be less accurate than Bloomberg's confirmations.

We're not sure about the accuracy of 9to5Mac claims, but Bloomberg's can almost be taken as facts.

Bloomberg's report confirmed:
- Announcement on June 11th at WWDC.
- High resolution displays
- Flash memory (didn't mention if 100% SSD or just for caching)
- Slimmer than current models
- Has Ivy Bridge

Joanna Stern (ABC News / The Verge), also pretty reliable confirmed:
- Very high resolution display
- Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics

The rest comes from 9to5Mac and we're not sure if it's reliable or not:
- Removal of ethernet port
- Removal of FireWire port
- Two Thunderbolt ports
- Samsung 830 SSD

I personally don't take 9to5Mac's rumors as facts, especially given that they claim the new MBP will have two 3.5 audio ports (input and output) and evidence in the Mountain Lion Developer Preview show it will actually have a single combined port: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1370959/.

I just went through MacRumors' archives to see exactly how reliable 9to5Mac has been in the past when they claimed they had information from "a source inside Apple". I tried to find every rumor they started between the release of the unibody MacBook Pro and the rumors of this new MacBook Pro:

Apparently, 9to5Mac has been wrong every time they have made predictions about future products, except when their source was Mr. X.

Mr. X seems to only have access to products names, SKUs and prices a couple of days before their release, indicating he probably has access to a retail/shipping inventory of some sort.

Never in the past has 9to5Mac revealed new information leaked from Apple's HQ (Cupertino) or from the supply chains (Asia). Other than this Mr. X who obviously can't know details about the next MBP or iPhone yet, 9to5Mac has never had a reliable source inside Apple in the past. 9to5Mac hasn't mentioned Mr. X in any of those previous "leaks".

Based on their past "leaks from inside sources at Apple" (not by Mr. X), it's safe to assume the 9to5Mac articles are 100% BS written only to generate traffic on their blog and gain profits from ads. Not that anything that they said is impossible, but it's probably just a compilation of guesses they made.

I suggest waiting until WWDC before making judgements based on 9to5Mac's claims which have not been confirmed by Bloomberg or Joanna Stern.
Those include: Removal of the ethernet port, removal of the FireWire port, 2 Thunderbolt ports, 2 3.5 audio ports (in/out), 3 USB 3.0 ports, battery meter and power button on the keyboard.

Late 2008 unibody macbook has finally croaked... need a new one desperately. Now it's either get a new Macbook Pro or wait a little to see if the new ones get released... and if they don't release a 13" then they'll be no point in waiting...GRR!

This was my first post when I was online about to purchase a Macbook Pro and then I found out about the redesign rumors. Now I've upped my budget so I can afford a 15 inch and have been checking macrumors non stop for the past 5 days... Thanks MacRumors! ;):apple:

So, Asus put a 1920x1080 screen in their 11'' ultrabook. This is Retina! The display seems to blow away all the competition, including the 15'' high-res AG MBP. But windows resolution independence fails!

Another interesting feature: The TDP can be varied between 13W and 17W through a Windows setting. I hope the same will be available for the non-ULV chips that the MBPs get.

This is getting a little grim.

This thread is getting a little grim. I just logged on to see what rumours people had heard regarding the new MBP's. I for one am finding it hard to wait much longer. But I'll give it untill WWDC, it means I will have to delay my development untill that time, but such is the life of an indie dev.

Can we keep it a little more civil?

Any rumors of a 1 TB hard drive? And are all the Hard Drive options going to be SSD?

The standard disk with the current models is 750GB so I can't see them going SSD-only as that would reduce the size.

I'd guess HDD as the standard with SSD options or maybe a HDD+SSD combo if they do drop the ODD

I don't want to trade sharpness for real estate. I want to the real estate I have currently to be sharper. If they don't make a 3360x2100 option or more for the 15", I'll probably have to buy a 17".

If the 17" is 'only' 3360x2100 that won't make a difference.

Are you saying that, for example, you can have the highest ppi ratio but your screen will be outta wack with black boarders top/bottom/sides etc but you'll have a sharper image, and if you want your full screen real estate back you'll have to switch ratios? Maybe I misunderstood... but I don't know who would want a sharper screen if you sacrifice the "useable" screen real estate lol.

It's the other way around: you trade a bit of sharpness (still way more than current displays) to get more screen space.

To clarify: now, all MacBook Pro's have the same sharpness because user interface elements allways take the same amount of pixels. So higher resolution means more screen real estate.

Let's assume the new 15" will be 2880x1800. If you set it on '1440x900 mode', you'll have twice the sharpness compared to the old displays. If you set in on '1680x1050 mode' you'll still have around 1.7 times the sharpness (still retina at typical laptop viewing distance) but with the same screen real estate of the old hi-res display.

The patent filing explains they can now do this without any artifacts and certainly not the ones you talk about.

Mac Rumors made a big boo boo last year with the apparent new iPhone design! They had those cases on the front page proclaiming they were proof of a new redesigned iPhone, however they did run some stories that the design wouldn't change, I believed those ones!
But it's the game you play with Apple, part of it's charm is it's total secrecy and the guessing game we all play :)

But I think on the new MacBook Pro's, reality is we should NOT state what will and won't be in them as no one knows, but I think they WILL be redesigned (although rumours said that last year too!), and they will most certainly be announced at or around WWDC as it will be the due time for the new ones anyway.

Yes! Finally someone who understands it like I do. Whether or not it happens like this, we'll see.

I'm kind of hoping they do something like a small MBA blade drive (say 64GB) for booting and a faster standard size laptop drive for storage. Plus, that way both options would be upgradable.

But, that means that Filevault in ML would need to support multiple drives (or no longer encrypt the "system" drive).

I'm not keen on the idea of them using Air-style blade SSDs as they aren't readily available (except as CTO options) for user upgrading - at least I've not seen them for sale in the UK, maybe they are in the US?

IF they do use flash storage, then they could change to mSata which is what everyone else uses and you CAN buy those in the UK:

http://www.scan.co.uk/search.aspx?q=msata
http://www.memoryc.co.uk/products/type/storage_products/ssd/index.html?Interface_Type=mSATA

Thanks for the links, but the largest size available is a measly 128GB - smaller than the 160GB in my '08 MBP - and they are a lot more expensive than normal SSDs

They are not meant to be used on their own though, the point of mSata drives is that you only use them for the OS etc, you then also use a normal HDD or a bigger SSD for everything else, you can also use mSata drives to work as cache only for the HDD, like the Seagate hybrid drives.

So you can have an mSata for the OS and programmes and then another SSD for storage.

Ah, right, I see. Thanks for clarifying. Yep, an mSATA drive for the OS and a 512GB Crucial m4 for everything else would do me very nicely thank you :)
