The iMac could have been upgraded anytime in May, because the new desktop processors and the video cards are already here, but nothing happened. And the only rumors we see are about a refreshed MacBook Pro, the one which was updated more recently. What will happen to the other Macs?

Here is my take on that: The MacBook Pro (13" especially) is Apple's cash cow in computers, followed by the Air. The iMac is far behind in sales, and the refresh will be less interesting (who cares if their iMac weighs a couple of pounds less or is 1/2 inch thinner). So they wouldn't want to take away from the big news of the MacBook Pro changes by refreshing the iMac first.

Shows in stock for me with shipping in 1-2 days.

Well it appears the french and dutch stores also slipped to 1-2 days for shipping, think MBA same 1-2 days in the Netherlands.

Since I don't usually check other countries' online-stores, I have no idea how common a short supply-strain is really. German store ships within 24hrs.

Aaahahaha. If I were "mad" I would be foaming from the mouth. And that's what I thought. Oh, and you keep waiting! Hahaha.

I think the other "n00bs" on this forum should read this article and decide for themselves without getting their hopes up too high:

http://www.tuaw.com/2012/05/21/rumor-roundup-episode-5-new-macbook-pros-steal-the-spotlight/

I think you've done all you can to help me make my point. Thanks to all the Mr. Online forum experts.

"I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to hang up this phone, and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world … without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries; a world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you."

If you look further up the page, I think the first post on this page someone linked an article from the WSJ, which I was led to believe is a pretty accurate source along with Bloomberg on these forums. You can't read the entire article unless you subscribe, but basically they quote an analyst saying that retina display is highly likely on the MBP. And I haven't actually read any articles that you linked so I am just taking a giant guess here in thinking that they basically say the crazy resolution will just make everything tiny on the screen so it's useless in a laptop. I believe people have mentioned that apple will do some type of scaling with icons and everything so that the screen and text just looks extremely sharp and everything isn't reduced to unreadable levels.

Norwegian, Swedish and Danish stores are up to 1-2 days as well... Not sure if it means anything though.

...and what if they let us choose which kind
of display have on our new Smack book 'bro?
Retina as a BTO i mean

In Anandtech's latest review of ASUS ultrabook utilising the Ivy bridge dual-core low votage chip, he made mention of something peculiar that could explain why all the OEMs haven't been able to release their machines until late May:

"The circumstances around today's launch are a bit peculiar. Intel has an embargo in place on the as of yet unreleased Ivy Bridge CPUs, this applies to both notebooks and desktops"

Could it be that embargo is what has been holding Apple back from unveling its new machines? Does that mean we're now getting closer?

I really hope the 13" gets the 2880x1800 display (1440x900 workspace) as a 1280x800 workspace is simply too little for me. Will be really disappointed if the Air ends up with the greater workspace than the Pro for yet another refresh.

I have been only on the apple bandwagon for the last 2 years in terms of macs but its funny how every time WWDC comes around apple fanboys are making a dust storm (I for one) over any rumour thrown. Also the tight control of products leaks makes an individual so anxious to buy the companies products that it wouldn't matter if its not the biggest change one small change and the fanboy is stuck in the halo of the apple logo. All i can say is apple marketing works maybe too much.

A friend of mine who works at apple store told me today that everybody will BE amazed with the new pros.

He also said that he already knew all the specs and details but couldn't share because of his contract with Apple.

Would be nice if they finally could get rid of those fat bezels around the screens, which look ridiculous on smaller laptops (11-13 inch). Surely Apple would do it if they could. I just don't get why it doesn't seem possible, year after year.

Hoping that there will be a 14" instead MBP quad core with intel 4000 graphics i've come to the conclusion that I just might look into a iMac instead

All this waiting for the new MBPs have got me confused and now i'm not sure what I want anymore.

Surely Apple would do it if they could.

So you're saying they can't?

Would they? .... It's more because they don't want to for many reasons.

Good article^. I tried doing research to see 9 to 5 macs track record with other wwdc event rumors but gave up early. Anyone else have any links to see how well 9to5 Mac predicted previous releases.

My prediction is that apple is going to remove the optical drive off of the MacBook line, use the extra space to add a bigger (and better) battery, improve cooling, and make it slightly thinner. They will improve ALL the displays to be 1080p HD (1980x1080), add impressive nvidia Graphics on most macs, and of course include Intels new ivy bridge proccessors.

I'm not sure about asthtetics, but they will keep the unibody design.
They will not remove the 17" MacBook or combine the 15" and the air either.

They will stream line their lineup though:
The air and 13" being entry models
And 15" 17" being the pro models

My expectations are high, as I need a laptop for university next year that can also play HD games on windows, if apple dont do anything radical. I'll sadly have to go to the dark side :(
At least they have cookies...

+1. Apples thrives on these rumors. They create hype. I've been suckered by these rumors far too many times. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

There will NOT be a 14". I repeat, there will NOT be a 14". Relax, it's not something any of us can control. Don't get your knickers in a twist. :D

Because Apple has a death grip on its customers. They want to "milk it" by making incremental upgrades. I like Apple, but the only way they will give users better upgrades is by demanding it. It's like this...."they NEED us, we don't NEED them."

Doesn't seem likely that a full scale redesign is coming this cycle, but if/when a redesign does happen, I'm starting to wonder if Apple will go to 16:9 displays for all its notebook computers. This hardware change would mirror the convergence of desktop and mobile that they're trying to push on the software side.

+1. Yeah, removing the 17" is just foolish. I didn't think about the extra space they will have by removing the OD. If they fill that space with a bigger battery, the mass would increase because batteries are so dense. There is one thing we know for sure about Apple and that is that it will never sacrifice aesthetics/form factor. I'm thinking they will make the new Macbooks a little lighter by not replacing the OD with anything other than a USB and Thunderbolt port.

The Asus zenbooks primes have an interesting feature! As you can see below:

HD 4000
13.3-inch 1366 x 768 TN

13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS
NVIDIA 620M + HD 4000
