Would be nice if they finally could get rid of those fat bezels around the screens, which look ridiculous on smaller laptops (11-13 inch). Surely Apple would do it if they could. I just don't get why it doesn't seem possible, year after year.

I have the anti-glare screen and I don't have a Bezel. I kinda wish I did. Why did Apple do this?? You know what would be sweet? If they had the edge less displays like Samsung TVs do!

People are still saying there will be no redesign? Bloomberg, WSJ and ABC do not publish these sort of things unless they themselves are certain it will happen. I'm not going to the question the integrity and reliability of huge news outlets

I will say it's 99% that the Macbook Pro will be released at WWDC and 90% it will have some form of redesign. (being slimmer counting as a redesign)

That would be great. It may be possible to do that, but perhaps Apple wanted to preserve the keyboard size. I don''t know. Maybe Apple could put 16:9 12" and 14" screens instead of 11" and 13" screens with the bezel keeping the same size.

The Asus zenbooks primes have an interesting feature! As you can see below:

HD 4000
13.3-inch 1366 x 768 TN

13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS
NVIDIA 620M + HD 4000

Yes, one of the Asus Zenbook Prime, the UX32VD, seems to have an IPS screen and an NVIDIA 620M card. And it will cost US$ 1,299. Will Apple adopt this kind of stuff on its 13" screen laptops? Perhaps Apple decides not to do it to preserve its high margins.

----------

...and what if they let us choose which kind
of display have on our new Smack book 'bro?
Retina as a BTO i mean

Don't think so. Apple would want to make a splash out of Retina Macs, and it probably won't be able to do it unless these displays are adopted as a standard.

----------

A friend of mine who works at apple store told me today that everybody will BE amazed with the new pros.

He also said that he already knew all the specs and details but couldn't share because of his contract with Apple.

Is he Tim Cook?

My prediction is that apple is going to remove the optical drive off of the MacBook line, use the extra space to add a bigger (and better) battery, improve cooling, and make it slightly thinner. They will improve ALL the displays to be 1080p HD (1980x1080), add impressive nvidia Graphics on most macs, and of course include Intels new ivy bridge proccessors.

I'm not sure about asthtetics, but they will keep the unibody design.
They will not remove the 17" MacBook or combine the 15" and the air either.

They will stream line their lineup though:
The air and 13" being entry models
And 15" 17" being the pro models

My expectations are high, as I need a laptop for university next year that can also play HD games on windows, if apple dont do anything radical. I'll sadly have to go to the dark side :(
At least they have cookies...

Where did you take these predictions from? Or is that just something that you want?

Absolutely. These high level people prolly own shares in the company, in which case their priority is the best interest of the company. The above post reminds me of the phrase....."I know a guy." Lol! Last time I heard a rumor that predicated from an Apple store regarding Lion's release date was dead wrong. The employees at the Apple store will probably be briefed about internal info a day or two before the actual release date. This is due to the remodeling of the store with new posters and such. They know nothing more than you or I.

I will say that anything can happen now that there is no Steve. I do believe that is time for Apple to make a big event and make something it has never done before. Something such as introducing a whole new line of Macs.

Do you really think that whatever new comes out will have nothing to do with Steve Jobs? I'm sure any new creation will be the work of Steve's ideas due to always planning ahead and it wouldn't surprise me if the generation after that won't be from ideas he and the other Apple gurus had planned for the future.

More than 900,000 views now! The most viewed thread in this section. We will hit one million views before the WWDC.

Maybe it's different in the USA. But my friend works at the Apple store and he says they don't even find out until the morning. They have to arrive early at the shop, and on the day of a new Mac launch all the advertisements/products are in a sealed box and they are given around 10 minutes before opening to get the information, which lets face it they don't need to know much about it, if we assume the Bloomberg article all they have to say is; Retina, slimmer, ivybridge and SSD. I don't know if this true for all stores, but certainly true of the one my friend works at. The only thing he can comment on is inventory levels of a particular shop, but he says that it varies so much it's impossible to truly give definitive answers.

Even then, if we assume it is going to be launched immediately at WWDC, it be in store the next day, which has given employees the day before to find out about it via WWDC.

Seems likely.

To be fair, while I agree I think Apple products will have Steve's mark on them for another two years at least, I couldn't see him focussing on the details such as "Yes, launch all new Macs at WWDC 2012!". I think if we hadn't seen IB delays, we would have already had the redesigned Macbook Pros out already. It's not like Apple /needs/ to launch a brand new redesign at WWDC. They are the worlds biggest and right now, most popular company. A simple press release talking about slimmer, retina display Macbook Pros would have every news outlet clamouring over it.

It means nothing but tweeted 9to5 Mac and questioned their prediction due to lack of further rumors or confirmation and they actually replied stating there is no need to worry. They seem very confident. Again, it doesn't mean anything just thought I would share

What is his position title?

Security guard.

Totally agree sir.

No different here in the UK. I was in an Apple Store last weekend and the staff member I was chatting to said pretty much the same thing - they don't have a clue until the day. Stuff does get delivered ahead of launch but they have to leave it wrapped up on the pallets.

Sorry, I meant the US! I'm from the UK too, haha. But yeah, I think we can safely say any Apple employee in retail saying they know something we don't isn't telling the truth.

Am I the only one that could see Apple putting in a 32GB or 64GB SSD for the OSX installation along with some other user-installable programs, as to ensure quicker speeds? I could see that being a huge selling point for the new MacBook's. It would be cheap for them because instead of putting in a 512GB SSD or something like that, they would just put in a 500GB HDD for your own files.

Hybrid drive would be cool..but I doubt it.. big SSD ? as an option maybe. Small SSD.. yes that help to keep cost down, but hardly deserving of a "pro" moniker.

Apple will most likely add a 32/64GB stick of SSD storage to the motherboard in the same way the Macbook Air currently has. This will be for OS or OS+Apps but will be standard. A customizable HDD/SSD will replace the ODD, retina, nvidia graphics (650ish on the 15, no nvidia on the 13, just HD4000) BOOM.

Does everybody really think that Apple will add an SSD without completely removing the HDD?

I think that Apple will drop HDDs in favor of SDDs. But it will add USB 3.0 ports so external HDDs can run faster.

I dont think they will drop HDD altogther.. atleast I hope not... and the fact that Seagate has a controlling share of LaCie is disappointing too..

I'd prefer if they didn't. I like buying my laptops with a cheap HDD so I can upgrade to a SSD of my own choice/price later.

That's a possibility. But Apple may put parts soldered to the motherboard, making it impossible to upgrade later... I hope they don't do it with the next MacBook Pro.
