I know right same here. I'm waiting for the redesign. As a tech gadget junky whore I need the latest and greatest.

I walked into the apple store for the first time in my life last night. I thought I would burst into flames (former mac hater) but I kinda embraced it. It was different. The only thing that annoyed me about the mac store is none of their macbook pros had a spec sheet. They had ipads that basically said "its a 13" macbook pro" but nothing as far as whats in it. I was looking for a macbook pro that had the anti-glare screen so I can compare it to the glossy screen.

I was able to compare the 13" with the 15" and I like the 15" better for what I want it for.
I'm sort of a "tech gadget junky" but for me it's not the fact that I need the latest and greatest. I just bought a refurb iPad 2 because it was a good deal, even though it's not new. But I need a new laptop, I'm moving from Windows to Mac and I would just feel like an idiot if I dropped $1200 on a laptop (3x what my current one cost), a significant amount of money for a student, only to have it be "old tech" 2 months later. That's why when I finally made the decision, I made my laptop finish the semester and am holding onto it by a thread to make it last another week or whatever.

I'm sort of a "former Mac hater" to an extent. I called their devices overpriced, etc. Then I used an MBP/iMac for work one summer, loved it. Got an iPhone and I'm obsessed with it. Tried out an iPad 2 and had to get one. They've got me hooked  I'll also be making my first Apple store trip next week (or the week after if I'm too busy) to buy myself a new laptop. I'm working out west in Canada for the summer where they actually have them. They don't have out where I'm from out east, yet.

I guess this is the last weekend to make guess of things to come monday. I say that the new mbp will be made from shiny liquid metal and more magical than ever. Simply said I can't wait til monday to find out the real scoop.

Ahh ok cool I'll have to remember that next time I stumble in there. Thanks! :)

They have an anti glare model set up in store it's one of the 15" - it has the silver lining around the screen. And the specs are on the iPad - you have to click one of the tabs on the bottom.

No problem - the only annoying thing is that on the ones ive been too the anti glare model is next to a 13" on a table, while the glossy 15" is either on the other side or behind it against the wall - I wanted to do a side by side comparison but since they are locked in it wasn't possible haha

It's a tech conference. I don't think Apple usually announces new products at their tech conferences.

I hope not. I can never trust liquid metal after watching Terminator2

Would anyone here get the base 15" model if it only had the HD4000? I think I'd be forced to get 13" which will hopefully get the quad core

HD4000 is completely out of the question for me - I'm doing GPGPU stuff and I need a real GPU. Maybe someday Intel will make one of those.

I wouldn't, I just can't see myself paying top whack for a computer without such an important hardware component.

Does anyone know if the Apple Store goes down during keynotes presentations?

Yeah, its went down in the past for new products during presentations. The store is usually up straight after the presentation though, the problem is getting access to the store with the sheer amount of people trying to access the store at the same time as you.

What applications harness GPGPU?

Available in Stores

When do you guys think the new MacBooks will be available in stores? Historically, how soon after an announcement has this happened?

And if the stores already have the new MacBooks and are waiting for Monday to start selling them, wouldn't the store employees be leaking information now?

I plan on ordering a base device online for in-store pickup.

Should be avilable in store the next day as for the staff possibly leaking information, I think the new products are usually boxed up and not allowed to be opened until the day of release.

Is there a way of watching or listening to the keynote online?

Usually there isn't a live video stream but rather a live blog of Apple events by third parties like cnet and Engadget. Some time (1-48 hours) after the keynote the video will be uploaded on apple.com. It's more likely to be closer to the 1 hour mark.

I fear that there will be no hardware announcements tomorrow.

The keynote is listed as 1.5 hrs long. I think it will take that long to get through, IOS, MAC OS X and iCloud info. Afterall WWDC is about software developers.

Crossing my fingers that this is not the case.
Wrong, as WWDC had been used in the past to announce new hardware - or they could be silent updates. Also tomorrow isn't June 11th.

Leaving for California Tuesday - i want the cheaper sales tax from Virginia - if I preorder and select store pickup and it says they have it Tuesday would it be saved for me? Or should I just go into the store first thing Tuesday am?

I dont think there is usually a mad rush to get hold of a new mac unlike the iDevices which bodes well for those at work Monday.

Cant wait to sit down and look over the models then hit buy next week!

I'm with you. I am hoping for a Retina 13 inch MBP. I still have a late 2006 MB. It works fine, but it is time for an upgrade.

As I suspected. I'll follow the live blogs, I guess, because by the time it is uploaded, I'll know what I am looking to find out. :D:apple:
