It's a tech conference. I don't think Apple usually announces new products at their tech conferences.

You're thinking of their quarterly analyst call conferences. Without fail, some people here will think that they use it to announce products.

Mine do. I do a lot of prototyping for engineering and scientific computing algorithms. The GPUs in the MBP aren't exactly Fermi boxes, but they're a lot better than the Intel alternative.

Arh parrallel calculations then! Do a lot of graphically heavy applications use GPGPU?

I think every one that is looking for a redesigned Macbook Pro will be disapointed. The Pro in its current design will live on in the short term with a refresh.

The new "Macbook" line will be thinner, and have retina. But also cost more. Now they might use the current pro design and name them macbooks, who knows. And call the redesigned laptops macbook pros. Either way I see three lines of Apple laptops come monday.

I think that the only remnants of the current Macbook Pro form factor will be the 17", and possibly a 13" for education (only because of the leaked spec sticker).

The third "Macbook" line information all seems to come from a single analyst.

damn these analysts they have us guessing whether a third line will come up and not enjoying a perfectly good weekend :p

Been literally waiting months for this and just realised the keynote is the same time as England's important first game in the Euros. Will have to catch up after the game and hope feeling good after a win.

Hope for you they will play better than agaInst Belgium, and sorry for the push from Mertens against ?Cahill? :)

I truly, truly hope this new redesign isn't going to be a disappointment. The whole reason behind why I wanted a MBP to begin with was its form and design, productivity second.

i bought my MBP for my birthday last june, i truly am hoping that it is just a refresh as i definitely won't be able to buy a new one.:(
if the design comes out much better i will probably cry:apple:

Oh my! How did I not notice this. What a conflict of interest...I feel Ill be sat watching the match keeping an eye on MR.

Rest assured that neither outcome will have any effect on your existing machine.

I can't imagine waiting half a year. I sold my 2010 15" MBP in later April and have been using my mom's 13" MBA while I wait. Aside from giving it up when she goes on her Facebook game binges (lasting for hours), it has been pretty chill.

The MBA has also grown on me a lot, and if the updated air has a retina screen or a better screen res than it currently has with 8GB ram I might just spring for it instead.

Read that all off the front page yourself did ya?!

What do you mean?
Regardless of the capabilities of the new MBPs, his old one is going to work just as well as it did during the last months. If one is as emotionally unstable as to start crying when newly released machines surpass 12 month old ones, he or she has a problem, because that happens all the time.

True, it'd be quite funny if Apple removed the backlit keyboard from the Pros. I guess anything can happen with "updates".

Cheers

Interesting. But if Apple will do that, especially if they reduce the price of the Pro, come reviews on benchmarks and battery life, :apple: shouldn't be surprise if the Pro will get more sales. I see them pricing these equally like Kuo outlined. Apple's objective is to ease the market into these new models. Nevertheless, if you are right and these are priced higher, they better not gimp the Pro's GPU. The thicker chassis can handle better thermal management than a thinner redesigned one. Fellow tweekers will welcome the last Optibay machines.

No need to apologize :p. Which ones are you referring too? The new non-Pro 15" in comparison to the Ivy Pro? So you think Apple will do that, have equal pricing and expect Apple to have anyone buy a thicker, slower and non-retina Pro? When you have two products of equal pricing, you should give your clients reasons why each has specific values over the other.
