Shocked with the $2199 price - if anyone thought it was going to be lower than that, you were just plain kidding yourself. I thought it was going to start in the $2400 range.

So, 13" is quad core?

No, dual across the board.

No 13in new retina macbook pro, that stinks.... I saw a picture that said August release, nothing was mentioned just now.

i was hoping for one too but i think the 13" will come later in the fall. i need a laptop soon so maybe if the display is better on the air i'll get that instead. damn it.

Is the SSD flash storage the same as used in the Airs (non user upgradable) or is it just a standard SSD? Their diction in the keynote makes it seem like it'll be like the Airs =(

Seriously ... Stuck at work... I can't upgrade ram myself on this retina book?
Can someone answer?

Well, in actuality, 256gb is more than I'd need at one time. I only use a total of 200 gigs with media and everything right now, and I have a 500gb external drive.

ZOMG!! The apple store is down! Do you think this means they are silently updating the macbook pro line to the retina display?!!?

alright I'm done now. Sorry.

apple learned well from the FCPX experience, keep the tried and true, and introduce the "future" as an option for people to migrate to when it is practical for their workflow. and include just enough droolworthy features to draw in the early adopter crowd to start the ball rolling. i'm still feeling pretty good about my 2011, but this is something nice to look forward to in a year or two as the model matures :)

It all comes down to upgrade prices for me. I want more than 256gb and 8gb ram. If that brings me just above $2500 I'll throw my money at them. But I fear it will be well over $3000

Sorry, I'm a bit out of the loop, but will these new laptops come with Mountain Lion? How about a refurbished version of the old (as of now) MBPs? If not, will all these I mentioned be available for update when Mountain Lion is ready?
