Why are people assuming that Mountain Lion is being released at WWDC? It is in all likelihood not...Even if the Macbook Pro released at WWDC it would still most likely be before ML. ML probably won't come out til the end of July.

When Apple says something is coming out in "summer", it means late August. My guess would be MBPs by the end of April or early May. iMacs in June. MBAs and Mac Minis in late July or early August. Mac Pros? Who knows...
Oh, and iPhone 5 in October.

Oh, and iPhone 5 in October.
I have a 5 year old Thinkpad which is praying for me to put it to sleep once and for all.
I really cant wait much longer.
I really hope that in the next 2 months the new macbooks pros will be release.
Let me raise this question. What if the next is only an upgrade and not a complete redesign ? I personally will go for a cheap laptop and buy a redesign macbook pro in the future. What do you think ?
Seems unlikely that Apple will wait until WWDC to release the 15" MacBook pro. First of all, while Digitimes is a very flaky source, they have been rather adamant that new MacBooks are in production and that the 15" will be released first. Then only a few weeks later sites and many stores (about half the best buys in my home city) start running low or out of stock of the 15". While that may be a coincidence it's still been one of the best indicators for new launches. Pair that with the fact that lion has HiDPI mode built in which the closer it gets to the launch of Mountain Lion, the bigger waste of time it makes lion having it with no retina machines. And lastly if Apple waits to announce the MacBook pros until June, it sort of congests the summer months with product launches (MacBook Pro, Air, iMac, maybe Mac Pro). I could be wrong and it could be my inpatientness talking, but I think we will be seeing the 15" pro in the next few weeks.
well appple does often do 2 release per year so maybe a release in April with Ivy Bridge and the redesign in Sept/Oct
Well I agree, it wouldn't make sense to release the MBPs mid-June.Absolutely. And that even more inclines me to believe we will see some form of release in the next few weeks. If they did June/Oct it would be too close together and I don't believe they would release much later than October.

On the other side of the coin; Well what's not to say they're moving to a Mac update schedule to once a year?
"The current MBPs are pretty good, and personally, I wouldn't want to go through data migration exercise more than once. I'd buy a Mac and let go of your purchase envy."
That's exactly my main concern.
Money wise is not such a big problem, you can get a $500 decent laptop to work with and then maybe resell it for $300.
but I do need to work urgently, and I can't wait more than 2 months.
This is really a huge dilema.
The more I think about it, the more I believe it'll be announced at an event, most likely WWDC. While Apple is focusing a lot more on its iOS lineup, they still need to push their mac lineup, especially now with the incoming wave of ultrabooks that will cut into their profits. Apple is also very strategic with all their product launches and announcement and will try to stay one step ahead of their ultrabook competitors.
If you remember back in February, right when Google's Eric Schmidt was taking the stage for his keynote address at Mobile World Conference to talk about Android, Apple sent out invitations for the "new" iPad event, completely diverting basically everyone's attention away from Schmidt and his talk about Android which I highly doubt was a coincidence.
While it's not the exact same situation, Apple could announce their new MBP around the release of the first wave of ultrabooks and completely steal the spotlight from them so that while these ultrabooks are about to hit the market, the media's attention, and therefore the general public's attention, would be focused on this newly designed MBP instead. This would most likely hurt the initial sales of these ultrabooks since people who like the ultrabook design will definitely hear about this new MBP and may opt for the that instead since it would be similar to an ultrabook in design (obviously thicker than the MBA but still similar) yet offer the power of a MBP.
That's just my take. The only problem with my theory, however, is that it conflicts with my strong wish and desire that Apple release the new MBP in the next couple of weeks so I sincerely hope that my theory is wrong![]()
What I hope:
- They launch the 13.3" MBP the same day as the 15".
- They don't change the design, I think it's great as it is.
- They put a new processor in, whether it be a dual-core or a quad-core.
- They don't make the SSD the new standard.
- It's the same price as the current model (it probably won't be) - they should at least make it cheaper in the education store.
- It holds battery better.
So your saying they shouldn't do anything other than Ivy-Bridge? BORING!
I do agree with you in some repesct. It's not even been 6 months since the last MBP update (October 24th) though that was a minor spec bump.I'm not buying the late-April release date. Here's why:
- It has only been 6 months since the last MBP update (average is 8, judging from the Buyer's Guide). While the Buyer's guide only takes in consideration average release dates and not current rumors, it's still worth taking into account.
- As far as I know, the only source that pointed out to a late-April release was Digitimes. Being parroted over and over doesn't make it any more credible; it just means Macrumors, Appleinsider and the sort really need the pageviews.
- With other manufacturers getting Ivy Bridge chipsets early (as opposed to Apple exclusively like it sometimes happens), I doubt Apple would be able to meet the MBP- emand right away. Specially when there are so many people holding out to buy an Ivy Bridge MBP, even justifying reports on low early-2012 Mac sales.
- There were rumors about difficulties in the dGPUs department. Apple might want to wait a bit before sending out a lackluster product (such as a base 15" MBP without a dGPU).
- If the redesign is to be a reality, Apple would even appreciate more time to test it out. Every redesign has engineering complications that aren't foreseen at first; testing out products is always fulcral, but even more so in this sitaution.
- I'm a pessimistic in general.I'm betting on late-May/early-June.
"few" more days and people will start asking about Haswell LOL. Instead of "should i get a MBP now or wait for IBridge" we'll see "Haswell is only 9 months away, should i wait or upgrade now" ;-)
