Maybe we might have a proper race in Korea. Hamilton was fastest in both Friday practices. One can hope...

There's a rumor that Rubens Barrichello is being considered for one of the Sauber seats next year. He must bring some big time sponsorship money. Must admit, this was a surprising rumor. Doubt it will happen though.

Rumors say he's amassed around $10 million in sponsorship. Bernie also wants to ensure there is a Brazilian driver in F1 for 2014.

I figured it had to be money. Sauber is reportedly in dire financial straits. It would be pretty sad to see two paid drivers there though if they have Sergey Sirotkin too.

Why does Bernie want a Brazilian driver in F1? Must be the 200 million population and huge market.

Such a shame Senna never lived up to his uncles talent. My favourite all time driver ever.

Mine too. He had such an intensity and mystique to match his amazing talents.

I've been thinking this for a long time. Seems I'm not alone. One day someone is going to write a book how Red Bull/Vettel "snookered" F1. Betcha.

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/10/04/f1-vettel-red-bull-traction-control/

They're not cheating. Newey has done his usual brilliant innovation within the rules and Vettel is talented enough to adapt his driving to Newey's design:

agreed on newey and on vettel. they are are very good at what they do.

but the traction control rumor might still be gaining momentum.

Vettel on pole again. Hmmm, let's guess how this is going to go. A two second lead by the end of lap one and another run away victory while the other teams are starting to test their 2014 parts on race weekends? Yeah, probably.

I'll watch every lap of every race but I have to say this is looking like one of the most depressing ends to any season in a long time.

Something about this season isn't right, but boy I just can't seem to put a finger on it...

This is very similar to when I first started watching F1 and some guy named Mike was winning every. damn. time.

Only a few moments of interest, including the "fire car" deciding to take to the track during green flag. I'm thinking that may get Korea taken out of consideration for next year.

Next year should be interesting. At least let's hope so.

I didn't even bother to watch the race. Checked out the results later, no surprise. Just isn't worth my time to watch anymore this year, sigh. I do have high hopes for next year but it's so darn far away. Cheers

I forgot to get my fantasy picks in on time but am only out of 2nd by 2 points. The lady I'm trailing continues to pick Alonso as the race winner. lol.

I thought the race was quite entertaining. The trick is to just forget about Vettel and imagine the race leader is whoever is in No 2 spot. Then it makes it quite fun.

Yes I thought it was quite funny when the safety car got deployed whilst the SC had gone for lunch (or whatever excuse it had for not being there). Mark really has all the bad luck in that team though.

I hope Vettel clinches this weekend. It's going to happen anyway :(

It might make the last four races of the season a little more interesting. Maybe Webbo will get another win, if RBR let him use Vettel's car ;)

I know what you mean. But if Alonso finishes it ain't gonna happen. Did you see Vettel verses Hamilton on various websites? Hamilton says Vettel makes F1 boring like the Schumacher days. Then later had to back track and say he is a great champion.
So which for you is the best current F1 driver (not in the best car). For me it would probably be Alonso or Hamilton. Alonso is more consistent, but for 1 lap pace I don't think Hamilton can be beat on a level playing field.

Hamilton is right. F1 has become predictable and boring like it was when Schumi won all the time. It took Alonso to make it exciting again. Maybe he and Kimi can do something about the RB/Vettel dominance next ear.

I am looking forward to Webber driving for Porsche at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Right now Vettel is the best overall driver. Yes, he's in the best car but he has been the most consistent. has learned to overtake competitive drivers, is amazing on cold tires, etc. He's upped his game from 2010 when IMO he should not have been WDC. Back in 2010 he couldn't overtake. But Webber threw everything away on mistakes and Ferrari made a strategic decision that cost Alonso the title.

I am tired of Vettel's domination and would be interested to see what he does in a less competitive ride. But right now he is the best.

But right up there with him is Alonso, Raikkonen, and Hamilton. I like all three. Anyone to push Vettel off the top ;)

Alonso is said to be the complete driver. He probably only lacks Hamilton's and Vettel's outright speed over one lap. And he's not as mentally strong as Raikkonen. I wonder how mentally strong Vettel is. Hopefully we will find out next year.

Raikkonen's main strength is his nerve. He shares Alonso's determination to push every lap no matter what. But like Alonso I don't believe he has Hamilton's or Vettel's pace over one lap.

Hamilton has the most raw talent of the three. His main weakness seems to be the focus that Alonso, Raikkonen, and Vettel have. He does not leave his personal life outside the track, makes weird mistakes, and is unaccountably off the pace on some weekends. If Hamilton had the focus of Alonso he'd be the biggest threat to Vettel.

I wonder about Rosberg. Does he have what it takes to be on the top rung? Grosjean shows promise. Part of me thinks that once he starts winning he could be a force.

Would only comment on the first statement you made.
I would say you are wrong. Vettel is a good driver. He is nowhere the best. He just has the best car and give vettel the same car alonso drives right now and i know Vettel wont perform as well as Alonso is performing right now. Give Alonso,Kimi,Hamilton the same car as vettel and vettel wont be able to win against them.
Vettel is too cocky according to me.There is a reason Hamilton and Alonso are paid double or more then Vettel. They both are far superior then Vettel.
I am not arguing here. The other points you made are true. I dont watch races nowadays. Just the start and the results.
Regarding how strong Vettel is mentally, the guy is a baby ;)
I want Ferrari to come up with a much more competitive car, they have been a disappointment in last 4 years and Alonso has done almost everything he can to cover it up.
Let's see how next year unfolds. I hope RBR burns and turns to ashes :p

And then there is Nico Hülkenberg leaving all these drives behind him that you think so highly of, in a car that is nowhere near the others...

I'm no fan of Vettel but you can't argue with his results. Yes, he clearly has the best car on the grid. But not every driver can take the fastest car and win consistently with it. Vettel has been fast from his first debut in F1.

We don't know how mentally tough he is now. In 2009-2011 he was prone to making mistakes when pressured and could only win from the front. The last two years he has greatly improved his overtaking and his toughness. I still don't think he's as tough as Raikkonen but we won't know for sure just how tough he is until he's in a car that is not so dominant. Hopefully that happens next year. Please let it happen :D

I do agree that Vettel is too cocky. He's had too much success too soon. His finger antics and playfully acting stupid when he's screwed over his teammate have worn thin a long time ago. It would be great if he could face some adversity.

A lot of that was because of the way the car was set up: Huge downforce, making it very fast in the curves but not so fast on a straight line. Gets the best lap time so he can drive away when in the lead, but makes it much harder to overtake on a straight.

This is only my opinion on drivers but there are only 2 drivers I rate and they are alonso and Hamilton this is for one simple reason, give them a car with 4 wheels and they race it give them a car with 3 wheels and they will still try and race it. They very rarely butch and moan about set up and this and that they just get on with it.

Then you have drivers like kimi and jenson on the rite day with the perfect set up you can't stop them they are untouchable but these performances are few and far between.

Then you have redbul the car is mint it doesn't matter who drives it they will win in this current rule set.

Now let's not be silly there is no such thing as a bad f1 driver I'm sure there is not a single person on this forum that could lap within 30 seconds of an f1 driver consistently for nearly 2 hours

Lets hope Vettels KERS continues to play up and Webber leads from the front tomorrow. Would love to see another run of DNF's for finger boy to make the last few races interesting.

He was showing some cracks in the latter part of the race while stuck in traffic per his radio calls.

Yes but sadly the result was still the same. I was really hoping for a Webber win today, but his three stops made that impossible. Even when finger boy has a bump, it's the other guy (Hamilton) who comes off worse.
Lots of good scraps throughout the field though.
