the raiders suck!

All of the 2-11 teams are now playing for a draft pick (they're all now 2-12 except for the jets). Even now the Jets seem to be messing that up by winning.

Niners are washed out, no surprise, and the bigger story may be what happens to Harbaugh. Oakland? SF's CEO Jed York (and his football family) is not exactly popular in these parts so if Harbaugh goes to Raiders and does well, plenty of Bay Area fans will follow him. The Niners lost their way when Ed DeBartolo was gone.

From ESPN, Harbaugh's strong record:

Since he joined San Francisco in 2011, Jim Harbaugh has made a very quick adjustment to the pros, going 43-16-1 in the regular season, the second-best mark behind only the Pats:

Team Record Win pct.

Patriots 46-14 .767
49ers 43-16-1 .725
Packers 43-16-1 .725
Broncos 43-17 .717

Can someone explain this scenario to me :

Seattle can be the #1 seed in the NFC if :

The Seahawks will be the top seed if they win their last two games and Lions and Cowboys both win their last two games.

The Seahawks will be the top seed if they win their last two games and Dallas loses one of its final two games (home against Indianapolis and on the road at Washington).

That seems wrong somehow.

Can someone explain Rogers to me? Inside his own one-yard-line, the ball gets slapped backwards out of his hand (and, oddly, just lies there in the endzone, ignored), so he run forward, away from where the ball is. Did he forget that he had it?

Oakland? Rumors right now are maybe going to Michigan

Well the ball didn't sit there ignored. The RB grabbed it and was tackled for a safety. Perhaps Rogers knew it was in the end zone and didn't want to get a safety.

It's an obscure NFL rule that the ball is dead where recovered by any other player than the fumbler under 2 minutes to go in the game. I'm sure Lacy didn't know the rule

Not entirely sure, but I think it has to do with the different tie breaker rules when it's a 2 team tie versus a 3 team tie. If Seattle, Detroit and Dallas all win out, they would all be 12-4 and since they all did not play each other, head-to-head does not apply. I guess with the other tie break rules, Seattle comes out on top, again, too lazy to see what those rules are.

If only Seattle and Dallas win out, they both end up with a 12-4 record and since Dallas beat Seattle, Dallas gets #1. So Seattle will need Dallas to at least one to get home-field through out.

That explains it.

It seems DeMarco Murray is having hand surgery to fix a broken bone in his left hand..

NO definitely does not live up to the amazing records that Brees holds with early career scramble to big yards, TDs, completions, and other stuff in the category of a Brady and Manning. Though I didn't think so, now there's this team to worry about besides the GB, Dallas, Philly, and Arizona seasons that seem to be good. Wouldn't it be funny if NO took it all this year as a #4 seed with such a pedestrian record?

I'm guessing that there will be a major purging occurring in Chicago. The bears are awful. I guess the next search won't include the CFL, where Tresman was out of the NFL for 8 years. I'm sure he's a nice guy and great coordinator (or was), but clearly the bears failed on all levels of play. Its not all on him, the GM, going all in with Cutler when in Denver he really wasn't all that great. Sure he had his moments, but they were almost always offset by WTF moments of him throwing the ball to the defense - kind of what he's been doing as a Bear

wow!

neither of you clearly saw that play. he didn't know where it was!

Any given Sunday I guess.

Remember when the 10-6 Niners won the Super Bowl when most thought it was a year off? But many better teams also with Montana didn't fare as well so if you make the playoffs, it's literally a new and different season.

I thought you had to play well to get there and in most cases that's true, but if you suck but the rest of the division sucks harder, then you're in.

I won't count out the Saints until they either don't make the playoffs or get kicked out in one of the postseason games. Brees garnered a ton of yards in what still looked like an ugly game. He had some bad/fugly mistakes and missed opportunities but never flinched and kept on producing. How do you fluster the guy?

The question two weeks ago was whether or not the Bears fire Marc Trestman. Now, it's a question of whether or not they fire Phil Emery, too.

They really need a president of Football operations who knows anything about football.
