You're on the minority here. It's a bad rule and needs to be changed.
Of course, it happened to Dez Bryant and he wears a blue star on his helmet, so now it's a great rule.

If he can do that, that's definitely control.
Just because he caught the ball in the air is meaningless. If the ground can create the ball to pop out it isn't a catch.
He caught the ball. He has it. He can either fumble or be down. It's not that hard.
Which was doubly stupid on his part. He could have tried a belly-tuck and fallen even on the one, which would have given Dallas more time to chew off the clock while scoring. It was a tad too early to reach for the 6 (especially since GB would only need a FG to win, or tie if Dallas by some miracle got the 2).
So why isn't it a fumble?

There are so many better answers than "oh, it's a catch but it's incomplete because he didn't take it home with him"
The play was ruled dead, so it can't be a fumble. He lost control before his body was ruled down, there for it is an incomplete pass.

The rule is only bad when it goes against your team. Had the call gone against the Packers you would be fine with it.
Prove it. Start a poll. On this thread, it looks even or leaning not-in-your-favor.
Do not accuse me of that kind of bias. Yes, I dislike the Cowboys, but I am keen to seeing the right call made on every play and will be quick to concede when a good call goes against my preference.

Dallas would have lost anyway. Rodgers would have lead the team down the field against a horrible Dallas defense and kicked a field goal to win the game.
That's not the point. It is a bad rule. The NFL is tarnished with rules like this.
You know what tarnished the NFL, it isn't the rule about a ball touching the ground, it is protecting the QB like he is a princess who just got their nails done.
