@Centaurr Did you catch that performance by Matz today? This team does have a lot to be excited about. The rotation for the next 3 years will be one of 5 aces, just need bats (to go along with what they provide) and gloves.

The line was just incredible for a debut! 7.2, 5 hits, 2 runs (off solo HR's) 2 BB's, 5 K's, 108 pitches and he did it at the plate too - going 3-3 with a double and FOUR RBI!

Of course, i did. im in shock  Steven Matz is amazing, he could bat too. the Mets rotation looks unstoppable...we won 2 games in one day, we're just 1 game away from 1st place again.

Right now if the season ended, the national league is exactly where it was when season ended last year. AL is different and in last five years AL lost four out of five. I have a feeling this could be the year for an AL team, and very possibly Houston, but Kansas City looks hot even without Shields, Aoki, and Maxwell.

Anyway, Houston vs. Kansas City. This should be good.

And when is the last year Bonilla played?

Did I say I was HAPPY with the situation? I was just pointing out that the "star pitchers making less" are guys that have been in the league for less than 2 years, none have a complete season under their belts yet. While they're performing well, the team is smart to save money while they can and wait until they're arbitration-eligible to pony up the cash. Sadly, they WON'T have them all next year as SOMEONE is bound to be traded for other needs.

And as usual, the Rockies season is over by the All-Star break. We just got bombed by the Angels last night. We are 13 games under .500, pretty much guaranteed that this will be their 5th straight losing season.

I'm so glad that football starts next month.

You then know how Norcal people felt when Niners season last concluded, as we were begging for baseball's spring training to start in SF.

...and then promptly lost the rubber game to the Mets. de Grom really owns us.

Aside from all the injuries, the Giants need to get focused. Far too many mental errors over the past couple of weeks. There are enough good options for a solid rotation to coalesce with Cain and Peavy back, but the bullpen needs some major help. Almost everyone has looked shaky. Although I like what Bochy has done with the "closer by committee" thing since Brian Wilson left, I think an imposing ninth inning guy would help tremendously. We all know the Phillies are shopping Papelbon, but I'd love to get Aroldis Chapman.

I love all the stories about Billy Hamilton, but he's in the wrong sport. If he could hit, all this base stealing would mean a lot more.
