a kid? thanks for the compliment. so what are baseball threads for? if i cant talk about baseball and my fav team. if you are gonna complain about something complain if i was talking smack but i dont talk smack, in case you havent noticed

Somehow we missed the news that Vin Scully will retire after the 2016 season.
 
Ok guys, its September, the rosters grow to 40 players now. Time to flex those playoff muscles, this is where it gets interesting.

Kris Bryant is 11th in the league in WAR at 5.1. Best on his team.

Matt Duffy is 28th in the league in WAR at 3.9. Third highest on his team.

Not only does Kris Bryant have a sizable lead in WAR on Matt Duffy, he has a lead in WAR among all Cubs and Giants.

BaseballReference.com has them both on 4.2 at the moment.

Don't worry your head: your boy will win the vote comfortably. I'll take the Commissioner's Trophies over whatever hardware they hand out for RoY.

I saw you had replied to the thread but that was not what I expected to see.

Last night was a HUGE win for the Mets. Morale/confidence booster for them (not that it was REALLY needed) and a backbreaker for the Nats. Beat them tonight and the division may as well belong to the Mets (boy I hope to not be eating those words in 3 weeks). Coming back from 6 runs down is HUGE. Sure, the pitchers had as much to do with it as the offense, but those guys had great plate discipline to force the Nats' pitchers to throw strikes (which they couldn't).

Mets magic number is 19. A Mets win tonight officially eliminates the Phillies, the Marlins and Braves could be officially eliminated by the end of the weekend.

If they don't make the postseason and Matt Williams still has a job I will be VERY surprised...
 
Not what I expected to see? what does that mean? im not trying to count my chicks before they hatch, you never know with baseball. the remaining 6 series SHOULD be easy. the Nats were our hardest rivals to beat and we did it.
 
So what did we learn from last nights game. The Yankees are not dead yet. And the Mets don't have a chance once Harvey is out of the game.

wow, that new kid Dilson Herrera is superb. he just hit a line drive against a ball from Chapman from the Reds
