After all that flurry of activity with the big name pitchers going elsewhere, I thought the Giants would stand pat. They didn't.

Mike Leake is no ace, but he'll fit in very well with the Giants. His numbers will be so much better pitching his home games at AT&T Park with a good defensive team behind him. Part of the reason his overall ERA is kind of high is because the Giants recently shelled him at Great American Ballpark. He and Madison Bumgarner are the top two active home run-hitting pitchers, so I'm looking forward to a little friendly competition in that department.

Could you imagine if Leake's numbers get better, and I pray they will, and then we have Madbum and Heston? Get Cain up to speed and then I can see those four doing the postseason starting duties. Given our ability to play better than expected late, and also beat teams better than us on paper makes me think that Leake was a great acquisition.

We tried for Hamels but no dice. Before that Lester and Shields. We also once tried for Tanaka.

You know I thought KC's Aoki was a better than average acquisition, but he has really helped us big this year.

the chisox and the orioles are my sentimental AL faves. I'd love to see you guys go back to something like this...

...and get rid of all that black ****. the problem is you won a WS in black pinstripes so i bet you will never change from look.
Maybe as an alternate, but I'm pleased with the black pinstripes.

Isnt it ironic, that Flores was sad & crying yesterday and today he was laughing & happy cause of his walk-off HR...todays game seemed like a movie, straight out of hollywood. his popularity most likely doubled. :D

The walkoff HR by Flores was so cool. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster! I know baseball is a business, but I can't imagine the emotions that go through a player's head if they're on the trading block.

I always thought Aoki would be a positive addition. The most I saw of him last season was his "creative" defense in right field in the postseason, but he's been fine in left, and his ability to consistently get on base really sets the table for the Giants' offense.

Michael Morse is no longer a Dodger. That was a brief and very irritating interlude there.

I cannot wait until every member of the White Sox front office is canned.

We have a look-in at last night's Sox-Yankees game

wow! great comeback. well done guys way to go b.belt!

i was just looking at the numbers pence vs belt. cracked me up.

belt 95gp 12hr
pence 37gp 6hr

a little voice inside my head keeps saying, "we need a power hitter!". but then another little voice comebacks with, "someone always steps up in the post season and hits a few..."

i guess we'll be ok.

The umpire of the Royals/Blue Jays game today needs to be fired.

Can't say I disagree. He warned both benches but guys continued to get beaned and there were no ejections until a retaliation happened and THEN he tossed the offending pitcher. I THINK that's what I saw on Baseball Tonight, I know I was sitting there watching the HBP's and wondering where the ejections were.

On a side note. Power surge in Queens tonight. 3 HR's in an inning for NY.

That was exactly what happened, in addition to the couple of high and tight pitches by the Royals pitchers.

The Giants' bullpen will keep them out of the playoffs.

The Core Four are aging and largely ineffective (except for lefty specialist Lopez). Santiago Casilla is not a closer. Aside from George Kontos, the middle inning guys have gotten worse. Hunter Strickland is still a disaster waiting to happen.

Quite a few pitchers' contracts are coming off the Giants' books this offseason. They will need to dip into the free agent pool for both new starters and new relievers.

yeah. i'm all about football now that THE MASSIVE SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are playing again.

that and our(SF GIANTS) current losing streak is killing me...

SF losing streaks are what preceded our three latest World Series rings.

We didn't get into 2010 until last three game series, 2012 saw our franchise pitcher be kicked to bullpen, and 2014 had too many keys players either be hurt in both regular and postseasons or totally underperform.

We will probably be second fiddle to LAD for years to come lest we steal a few of them.
