The new owners quote on pitchers: "pitchers break"

They mentioned how they're not particularly fond of give big contracts to pitchers. Especially those whose contracts will end in their late 30s. I have no doubt Zack will want 6 years, 180 mil. Just how good will a 38 year old Grienke be at $30 mil? I'd love to see Zack back in blue, but I've learned not to hold my breath.

he he he... he is right but good pitching beats good hitting... catch 22.

LGM!

If anyone had told Syndergaard, Conforto or Matz that they'd have even a CHANCE to play in the WS they would have laughed in their face but here they are, not just on the roster but in STARTING roles. 2 of the 3 were in AA-ball at best to start the season.

Holy crap what a game. Too bad Joe Buck had to ruin the international feed.

If this series is all like game 1, this is going to be one exciting but taxing World Series. It'll be one giant attrition World Series.

Awful game. I still believe in my Mets but I the pessimist in me fears that the homerun in the 9th may have swung the series. I know its only the first game but think what a different series it would if the Mets had been able to seal that win with Degrom going tonight. oh well LGM!

If this goes to 7, and extra innings in that game, it will be the best WS of our generation.

Game 1 was insane with so many extra pitchers, the huge error from KC in the infield, the inside the park home run on first pitch, Granderson's amazing catch, which left this game up for grabs. I hope tonight offers a similar show.

They talked about an evenly matched series and here it is.

Breaking News:: Ok now i really hate the royals, Pine tar was discovered on one of the players, its trending on social media, they have to cheat to beat the Mets...smh

I wouldn't say it's illegal to do that, though that might be a loophole in the rules. Fielding players can use tar or any other substance on the field (if you remember the Dodgers / Mets series, Justin Turner was using rosin on his hands for grip. Again, Turner isn't the catcher, and its not being fed back to the pitcher every time.

I just heard that Volquez's Dad passed away and the royals didnt tell him till after his pitching. I think that is a horrible decision, thats unacceptable and selfish. Im a big baseball fan but your Dad comes first than any game or sport. Its ironic that the person who told the royals not to tell him till after was his wife. That explains alot, of course she didnt care, she just wants the big MLB checks to keep coming...smh

That really sucks. F them!

If that's true, like I said about Brady and the Patriots, go after the player or player(s) in question but don't penalize or demonize the whole team and their coaches.

If it's pine tar and he was feeding the pitcher then ban that catcher and pitcher(s) from the rest of the series. If any coaching staff was involved then kick them off.

Don't hate the entire Royals' organization. I am sure the rest of them worked hard all year and played by the rules. Like anything or any field in life, you will find cheaters and that's unfortunate but the league has their rules and ability to punish but I hope it doesn't reflect badly on the whole team.

If the Royals win the series then don't give rings or recognition to any proven cheaters if there were in fact any.

They didn't tell him at the request of his family. Plus it was his father that got him into the game. I don't see an issue here.

Cueto really brought the goods in game 2.

If Volquez's dad died just before the game, I don't see any issues with waiting a few hours to tell Volquez. All the complaints people are posting about Kansas City are starting to sound like sour grapes by Mets fans.

As mentioned, it was at the request of his family. WTF does that have to do with "big MLB checks to keep coming"? You sound like a disgruntled Mets homer.

I suspect Mets will win big in home opener. After that I have no guesses. The Royals had this all out swinging on first pitch ethic which allowed for a lot of production with just singles and if the Mets also do that at home, where they are more comfortable, then their team should shine and it will be the best advantage they have over the Royals in this entire series.

Ventura, while great at times, has consistency issues and the Mets can cash in but they have to get up on the Royals early.

I think the Mets just ran into a better team in the Royals. Considering how they came so close last year the Royals are all in. Down 2-0 heading into New York, all the pressure is on the Mets now. They will start the game tight, that might be all the Royals need for the knockout punch.

I hope the Mets win and this eventually goes to 7. It's easy for me to say not being a specific fan of either team, but at the same time respecting both squads. I only dislike the Dodgers so I could watch this series stress free.

If the Mets were the home team and they were down 0-2 heading into three games in Kansas City, then I could see the Royals putting down a knockout punch. But the series is headed to New York and not to the friendliest fans in baseball. It will be tough for KC to be loose.
