You could argue that 2015 Peyton Manning was a pretty bad QB to win a Super Bowl, except for the fact that he was still a field general... he did just enough on offense putting his team in good spots and audibling based on the defense. Then he just let his defense do the rest.... so while he was pretty bad physically he was still at the top of his game mentally

I dont think you can compare it with either one year wonders or players who didn't have the career he did. Not to mention he was probably had 5-10 football years more than the other journeyman QBers, which is why 2015 was a weak season. Past his prime, as opposed to in his prime.
Yes that was one of his weakest years, but he was in that position because he threw 50 touchdowns 2 or so years prior, not because he was a 2nd string for most of his career and then he got a shot all of a sudden.

Yeah that's a good point, there's really no comparison except for the diminished physical skills at the moment. But when looking at the full body of work its a completely different situation like you stated.

While I do agree that every team has its share of bad apples, plus of course there is alcohol induced behavior... I've been to countless Jets and Giants games with fans from other teams present and aside from a few isolated arguments and trash talking its not that bad. Watching all of the videos online of Vikings fans just getting abused and have things thrown at in the parking lot was pretty bad.... It was so bad that a lot of Eagles fans are donating to Mike Zimmer's charity as an apology. Obviously the majority of the fans are great decent people I'm sure as you can see from that gesture, but you can't argue that its a bit more hostile an environment than most venues.

How about the video of the woman in a vikings jersey spitting in an eagles fan's face as she was being escorted out of the stadium? Or this, such lovely behavior from the midwesterners - http://www.12up.com/posts/5955889-some-vikings-fans-organizing-meet-up-to-throw-trash-at-eagles-fans

You see more stories/vids about philly fans because it's such an easy clickbait story that has been going on since the santa incident. More reading pleasure:

I didn't even watch it. I just don't see the point of the Probowl.
I wanted to watch it to see the players from my team play but it was pretty much 2 hand touch, as soon as the defender touches the reciever or running back, whistle gets blown.

Agreed, I have to say, its probably been at least 30 years since I sat down and watched a probowl.

Unlike baseball, basketball, and even hockey, the all star type game just does not translate well for football. End of the season the players are mostly worn out, the players going to the superbowl are not there, and/or other players not wanting to risk injuring themselves on a worthless game.

If viewership of the NFL is down this year, and based on what I've read over the past few months, it is. I wonder how much more the probowl is, I don't know anyone who was looking forward to this.

Yeah I think it should just be an award and the financial bonus they get and maybe some skill competition for those who have to have some sort of action. But the latter is unnecessary IMHO.

We Americans are the "New Romans" and we have to have some sort of silly blood sport.

That's why it's ok for sports fans in Philadelphia to act like such *******s and why Arena Football exists.

On a slightly different topic (different then the probowl), I'm not one to get caught up with all the hype of the superbowl, regardless of who's playing. So much so, I'm already pretty sick of seeing superbowl specific stories/commercials/shows going on.

That was just a warm-up, this week is when the real fun begins... All the sports radio shows, podcasts and networks will be at media row... I love football but I agree it could be a bit much.

I am interested to see what numbers the Super Bowl will bring in given the downward trajectory we are seeing with the NFL as a whole.
Agreed, and while this is the eagle's first time to the big game in a number years, the Patriots have been there many times. I say this not to gloat but rather point out that outside of New England, people may be less interested in seeing the pats play yet again. Also I wonder if the half time performers have any impact on people watching. That is, are the folks who typically watch football Justin Timberlake fans? I kind of doubt it, but who knows. Conversely, will Justin Timberlake fans watch the game because he's performing (or will they flip on the game at half time)
