Agreed, and while this is the eagle's first time to the big game in a number years, the Patriots have been there many times. I say this not to gloat but rather point out that outside of New England, people may be less interested in seeing the pats play yet again. Also I wonder if the half time performers have any impact on people watching. That is, are the folks who typically watch football Justin Timberlake fans? I kind of doubt it, but who knows. Conversely, will Justin Timberlake fans watch the game because he's performing (or will they flip on the game at half time)

If the Eagles were not there, I wouldn't watch it. As you said, seeing the Pats in there over and over is anything but exciting or enticing. Also, Justin Timberlake? I'm sure there could have been someone else....

While I'm not really a fan of hers, I thought Lady GaGa did a really good job last year

I'd bet they flip it over at halftime.

I have no interest in the Pats winning. Be glad they don't have two teams that can play in this game or the numbers would be really down.

Whoa! Chiefs trading Alex Smith to the Redskins. I guess that means Cousins is off to free agency. There must have been some truth to the rumors of tension between cousins and redskins coaches/front office... teams don’t let franchise QBs just walk like that these days.

Edit: read the full story and skins are giving up a 3rd rounder and starting young cb Fuller. Does not seem like a good deal considering they could have kept cousins for most likely same price and kept the draft pick and cb. Cousins isn't worse than Alex Smith.

Wow, didn't see that coming. They are giving up on Cousins. I can't blame them in one sense. He's been a solid but unspectacular quarterback. They're wanting the team to get to the next level, and imo, the front office never beleived he was the man to that job done. I also think the coach Jay Gruden is not the man to get that job done either

As for Smith, he's 33, he's shown sparks of brilliance but at 33, I'm not sure he's the man for the job either.

Cousins to broncos?
That makes the most sense, that franchise is probably in the worst QB situation, and for being such a football brain, John Elway made a mess of things with his QB selections.

^That.

The other part too, but mainly that.

The only problem with that is the Elway is known to be cheap and unwilling to budge in contract negotiations. It will depend on how bad Cousins wants to win vs. getting paid. I'm sure other teams will throw more money at him but the Broncos give him the best change to win right away.

Good point, but the issue right now, is that Elway dug himself into a hole and he has few choices in all honesty. I think he may very well end up paying a lot $$ regardless of who they go with (assuming none of them on the roster will be the starting QB)

Yes, because it seems Cleveland tried and failed to execute a trade with Washington, they have the cap space and the willingness to drop lots of money. Of course Cleveland still looks like a dumpster fire, though I think they may finally be moving in the right direction

I don't think the Redskins were ever sold on Cousins. Three years of the same "prove your worth" song and dance is pretty telling. The biggest factor in Alex Smith's favor is his character; the man is a class act. He's the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL. He don't get no respect.:p He was playing at an elite level in San Fran, got injured, benched and traded. Played at a high level in KC (even though he knew it was his last year), got traded. And people always bring up Aaron Rodgers being selected after Smith in the draft. Well, Rodgers landed in a better situation (winning team, not tossed into the fire as a rookie).
Not gonna play what if, but I still think Smith was the best QB in that draft class. Most QB's who started their rookie year in a bad situation ends up as bust. Look at the 2011 QB class.
IMO, the Redskins got a bargain in this deal. Smith should easily be worth a 1st round pick for any team that's contending. I'm just glad he didn't end up in Jacksonville.

are you really implying that Smith could be as good as Rodgers if he had landed in the right situation? I don't think it matters what situation Rodgers would have landed in or when he would have gotten tossed in, Smith is not even in the same ballpark with Rodgers as far as skillset goes. the chatter about Smith being picked ahead is definitely valid.

Nope, not implying anything. I'm bad at What If games. Alex Smith had 5 OC's in his first 5 years. That is enough to screw up any QB. The fact that Smith managed to become not only a serviceable QB but a top 10 speaks volumes.

Expect the Jets to show interest and they have a boat load of cap money.

ugh I hope not. I would understand if they were a QB away but the Jets have so many holes right now.... They should continue to do what they were doing which was dropping veterans and getting younger... With the 6th pick in the draft they can get a young QB. Cousins is pretty average, he just looks great because of the state of QBs in the NFL right now... Teams are desperate for decent ones. I think this would be a huge mistake for hte Jets and would just throw them back in to the QB purgatory they've been in forever. And I know they've done a horrible job picking QB's but at some point they have to hit on one.... right?

I'm not a huge fan of Cousins. I think he's a decent QB, and tbh, I think the best place for him is in a franchise that relies on QBs not to lose the game. The Broncos for instance. I think in that situation, he certainly can flourish, but in places where the onus is on him to win the game. I think that's when we see his short cominings.

yeah... i can't get a feel for this one.

Philly is hyped and that underdog thing is really rolling... but I've seen this type of thing run out of gas.
