It's all about the pricing. Apple need to stop charging European's more money than US costumers. In most places the basic iPhone X starts at almost $1400 dollars. That's ridiculous.
It's $1500 AUD here in Australia for the most basic iPhone X so it's not just Europeans paying high prices.
[doublepost=1525750232][/doublepost]I'm sold for an X once my contract is up in November of course.

Taxes only account for a fraction of the differential. In the UK, we've got 20% sales tax (VAT), but the UK prices are about 40% higher than the before-tax prices in the US after accounting for the exchange rate. The problem is that Apple always sets its exchange rate in Europe very conservatively. That 20% differential now means that if you're buying a combination of Apple products, it's cheaper to fly from say London to New York (you can get return flights for less than $400) and hop on a coach to Delaware.

Thanks for the information. Well, maybe I guess its time for bands of British scalpers to brawl out the Asians during the next big Apple launch! :)

Does anyone want horizontal support?
I rarely, if ever, use my phone horizontally unless the app requires it (games mostly).
For my own Apps I've dropped horizontal support. One less thing to test and worry about.
No complaints from users when I did so.
The "Plus" iPhone models have an iPad split view master/detail horizontal mode but I find that annoying and I wish I hadn't put it into one app I wrote in retrospect.
People tend to use phones with one hand and it's just awkward to do that horizontally.
I've yet to be annoyed by my X because I can't open it holding it that way because I just wouldn't.
I can see it being handy for in-app purchasing in games but that's all.

One advantage of horizontal Face ID is to improve unlocking when you aren’t holding the phone perfectly. Like if your head is tilted, or you are lying in bed on your side.

It’s also going to be necessary for ipad.

I cannot wait for the X Plus. The length of the X would have been fine but it is sinply not wide enough (yes, still talking about a phone).

I just hope they price it more „reasonable“ as in lower the price of the reg X and have the X Plus start at the 999 mark. I mean for 1.349€ and most likely pathetic 64 GB i could get a Mac

Greedy? Don't buy it. problem solved.

are you american? This is oddly such an american mindset i hear a lot. „Dont like xy. Simply dont do xy!“. „Cannot afford health insurance? Not MY problem!“

IN September, not at or on. "At" would be where to find the stable release: at September's place.

But get real: announced IN September but because of <some part in short supply- just make up any old part: the flaquomaster X7>, it will be in very short supply for up to forever. So wake up at 2:58am to try to be FIRST... or you may never, ever, never-ever, ever, never, never, never get one... nor your children, nor their children. Hurry! Rush! Apple might squeeze 5 or maybe just 10 units out of the factory before the next, next iPhone is announced.

However, by the prime of the holiday buying period, magical innovations in the supply chain yet again will manage to make it possible to get 1+ (or millions) in time for everyone to get one for Christmas. We fall for it every single year. It works every single year. We never seem to learn. See everyone at 2:58am.

;)

Calm down.

"I don't need it so nobody should have it" is never a good strategy.

I’m wondering if horizontal FaceID will be exclusive to the Plus model thanks to a larger/longer notch which will accommodate the extra sensors/lens required. Just when some people were thinking the notch would get smaller this year, at least on one model, the Plus, it could get bigger!

And sometimes you find out you actually did need it so it’s usually wise to wait until you can actually try something out to see if it’s as useless as you thought it would be or unexpectedly useful.

I hope they don't pull the 'better camera in bigger phone' trick. I just want Apple to stop limiting features exclusively to ‘Plus’ models just because they’re larger.

You Need to take a closer look at Apple’s marketing. Of Course they will put more exclusive features in the more expensive larger 6.5 X model. They have to give the consumer a reason to consider why they would want this model and they will provide separate features to make it more appealing for the 6.5 model.

iOS 11 features are for iOS 11, the horizontal FaceID is just a rumor for iOS 12.

The current iPhone X may not get horizontal FaceID, it may require updated hardware.
So the three rumoured cheaper iPhones are going to get hardware that's too expensive for the iPhone X?

Eliminating the GST lowers the USD price to about $1,079. The US (federal level) does not have a national Value Added Tax. Most of the States add a sales tax that can be as high as 11%.

In Washington, where I live, the out the door price of the Base iPhone X is US$1,086.

Sure, but the point is that in Australia, we don't pay US federal or state taxes, for obvious reasons. Which means that in Aus, the 64GB iPhone X is still ~US$87.50 more expensive than it should be.

I think going by Apples finances, we can expect the new 11 to start at 999 and the Plus to start at 1100 at least, most likely 1150 or 1200 US dollars, why wouldn’t they if enough people rush out to buy it?

A thicker Apple device.... my goodness, Hell might freeze over after all! ;)

Johny Ive has been snapping all his pencils in disgust.....

That's nothing compared to what we are paying .It's 1841,38 Australian dollars if you convert it.

The 8 plus is already a big heavyweight - if this is stainless and slightly bigger and heavier again, it’s really going to be stretching usability. Generally I g with the plus models because of the better battery and better (@3x; 1080p) not bigger display... might have to see if the XI 5.8” catches up on the battery front...

In the US, we only have a one year warranty.

How many years warranty does the Australia Consumer Law provide?
