This thread go to far ... and nothing discuss ...
Nothing to discuss when Apple has been way too predictable for how long now? Only time Apple caught millions by surprise was the first iPhone.

We should have leaked specs of the same-looking X by next spring. As someone posted earlier, same old song every year.

Wash, rinse, repeat. *yawn*

Next year should have additional ways to unlock iphone. It will be called Fart ID, iphone will only open with your unique fart. Chances of someone to unlock your iphone will be now 1: 47682750. It will more secure than Face ID. Only draw back would be what if fart is not coming out but for which apple recommend to eat lot of beans which will resolve the problem for most. Night Shift will get improved plus Day Shift will be introduced. 2 new colors will also be introduced Rose Yellow and Sunflower Pink. Battery will improve significantly. As the name shows Apple Pay, Apple will Pay for all your Starbucks coffees unless you don’t add extra sugar. It will be a huge upgrade from current but they will keep the prices same which is plus considering so many additional features.

Well, Fart ID would tend to discourage theft. Who wants a smelly-ass iPhone?

I just wish fora regular-sized iPhone to finally be treated as a flagship with the fancy dual camera setup. Right now camera wise, the iPhone 8 feels like a mid-range, where even an iPhone 7 Plus feels more "flagship-worthy." Clearly Apple can fit dual camera on the X, so hopefully that means 2018 non-plus iPhone will get it as well. I also hope 3 (or even 4) GB of RAM would be standard by then. My 6S already has 2GB, not wanting to pay $$$ for an upgrade to something with the same amount of RAM.

The big question is, will Apple go back to a regular and Plus iPhone, or will they add another premium flagship (ala the X)? Or will the X simply be a one-off for this year? Seems unlikely, but the X will be in a weird position next year if Apple keep it. Even if Apple cut the price, it will still be more expensive than the standard iPhone base price, yet with last gen hardware.

Actually, if the price becomes $699 base price, I don't mind. Having a phone that costs $1k last year for $300 less (and now faster) seems like a decent deal.

With Fart ID there are only advantages, this is the smelly future of sophisticated technology.

And? We already know those specifications are likely to be improved or added. But we don't know the unannounced features the Apple will change or implement for the next iPhone. So what you're stating is the obvious beyond what we don't know.

I think anyone who is expecting big changes next year will be disappointed. 2018 will most likely be an “S” year. My guess is:

- Plus version of iPhone X 6.4”.
- A12 chip
- Slightly brighter screen for the OLED models (maybe 800 nits)
- Bump up to 16mp for the camera
- Better quality microphone (for recording). This has been one area where iPhones don’t do as good as some of the flagship androids when it comes to shooting videos.
- Gold color option for iPhone X phones
- Possibly a $100 price drop across the board
- The notch stays.

An “S” version of the iPhone 8 and 8 plus will also launch as a lower price option. My prediction is Apple will keep the legacy style iPhones around until the iPhone X style becomes cheaper to manufacture. Once manufacturing cost is cheap enough to sell the iPhone X at $799, we will see a full transition.

Only thing I know is the ipX is too big.

So if the 2018 phones are going to be the ipX size and bigger...I'm still out.

iPhone X Plus (larger OLED iPhone) - $1149
iPhone Xs (updated iPhone X) - $999
iPhone 9 (edge to edge, 6.1" LCD Phone) - $699
iPhone 8 (no update) - $599
iPhone 7 (no update) - $499
iPhone SE2 (updated internals) - $449

Guess the 2018 lineup

Ming Chi Kuo already has: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/11/13/kuo-three-new-iphones-2018/

Not everything Ming says usually happens. See: TouchID under display

We know he doesn't have a perfect track record, no analyst does or will ever. However, he Is the most accurate analyst that reports about Apple. No one even comes close to his predictions and or track record to prove otherwise.

Source for Touch ID under display as you indicated?

I don't know if Ming has a track record divining the "names" Apple chooses to use on newer phones. AFAIK she only takes guesses at the physical case and externally sourced modules (sensors, cameras etc.)

Q3'18
$349 - SE
$449 - SE2 (uncertain)
$599 - iPhone 8
$699 - iPhone 8 Plus
$799 - 6.1" LCD (iPhone 11 M)
$999 - 5.8" OLED (iPhone 11)
$1,149 - 6.5" OLED (iPhone 11 Plus)

Discontinued

iPhone X
iPhone 7 series (if SE2 is launched)

Ming Kuo is a He, not a "She."

I ain't arguing otherwise. I'm just saying he is usually right, not absolutely right. So that line up you posted may not happen.

Kuo always said Apple was having trouble working on in-display Touch ID.

He was the first to publicly say iPhone X would not have a fingerprint sensor. (Remember the outcry from the non-believers?)

If anything, it adds to his credibility and track record.
