Another shiny glass turd, you can polish to your hearts content.

If they dont change design direction and release an aluminium / polycarbonate phone with a flush camera, that is reasonably priced, I will be seriously looking at android this September [but not samsung - just as bad].

I suspect I am not the only one.

Since that's not going to happen, why not get that android phone right now? You'll be happier, sooner.

Begun the lens war has...

Hardly revolutionary though
I never said or even implied that it was revolutionary. I said "really useful".
I was recently taking a photo of a sailing ship with my Huawei P20 Pro. If its third lens had been wide angle, instead of monochrome, I wouldn't have needed to keep walking back and back and also getting a lamp post into the shot. Mate 20 Pro has the third lens as wide angle.

So funny watching (almost) everyone here getting frothed-up into a frenzy from a rendering provided by an Indian tech site. And speak about it like it came straight from Apple and Ive's lab.

Starting to understand why people aren't very fussy about accuracy/data/evidence anymore. Fake news and FUD, going hand-in-hand.

Whatever it may be, and based on rapid improvements over the last few years, I'm looking forward to the new camera on the next iPhone.

In the right hands iPhones can make outstanding photographs. It's been my only camera for the last few years.

We will have to agree to disagree, I think the Pixel 3XL is a far more accomplished design as is the new Huawei in my opinion. The cameras look terrible on the current iPhone XS Max and face ID is a nightmare and one of the many reasons I hardly ever use my iPhone XS Max but much rather reach for my Pixel 3XL.

Granted the notch is nicer on the iPhone, even though it never looks nice on any phone and hopefully will be gone from most flagships in 2019. To be clear iPhone's didn't start using notches Android powered phones did. It's a bad solution but currently the best solution to having front facing cameras, the Pixel 3's for instance have two so that's why the notch is bigger.

In terms of the software I've had far less issues on the Pixel line of phones than on my iPhone's in the last 3 years. I think it's important to accept that Android and Android phone manufacturers have caught up and in many ways surpassed Apple rather than blindly praise everything they do. Apple's it just works moniker hasn't been true for many years and we need to call them up on that.
We agree probably more than we disagree. I completely agree that Android hardware has caught up in many ways, and pure Android on the Pixel is as good as Android gets. And I do respect what google is doing with their computational photo software. They have proven two lenses are unnecessary in many scenarios.

As far as the notch, nobody had the iPhone X style until after the X and nobody was using a vertically stacked layout for their dual cameras until the iPhone X was here. Whether anyone likes Apple’s design decisions or not, it’s hard to argue they follow anyone

That is ugly.

I wonder if they would put the cameras in the middle...

I really hope they move the camera enough to make gripping it in landscape more natural. This is an area where Apple is going for design over function.

Too far. If that's real, that's a hard no. HARD NO.

Until all models have it... and your phone breaks...

Oh god no, please no!*

*Given Cook & co's complete lack of sensitivity, attention and care towards the aesthetic factor, it's very likely it will happen indeed.

I'd rather see NO Bump. Apple should work on aesthetics... that's their thing. Thin sucks. It's hard to hold onto.

Work on lighter and more battery... and bring back the flat edges this round edge sucks. it's slippery and and the phone can't stand up on its own.

Imo, the best notch is one you dont actually see. Huawei P20 Pro has a notch for the front camera, flash and speaker, but I have set it up so the screen to either side of the notch is dedicated to system /status info so the notch is not visible in apps or homescreen which I find a distraction. "Notch off" setting. See below. Without "notch off" setting, the white would be in the system info area causing the classic notch effect. The plain dark area in the middle top is the notch location.

I wonder if Apple was the source of the leak themselves to get public reaction before they commit to a design ... ???

i rather have a bump. my iPhone 5 had so many scratches on the back. my iPhone 6+ and even my 7+ jet black didn't have as many scratches as the iPhone 5. it's thanks to the camera bump

with that said, this rendering is horrid. almost 100% sure Apple will show off a better looking one

That’s not true . Different aluminium and application . The 5 scratched looking at it .... a camera bump would not save it from scratching

I can deal with the ugly notch for now but jesus christ this camera bump is one of the most hideous design I've seen on a phone..... ever

Haha every time these leaks appear everyone vomits over them saying Apple would never do something ugly like that.

I enjoy taking photos on my iPhones and Android phones so I appreciate any additional functionality. But Samsung’s S9 design has spoiled me by giving me great cameras in a thin form factor without a vulnerable protruded camera bump. My Xr camera bump is about as obnoxious as I can stand. I know it doesn’t have to be like this because it’s not this bad on my Android phones so I can’t understand Apple thinking even the existing camera bump is good design.

This render reminds me of some mosquito bites I’ve had in which I got an allergic reaction. I don’t particularly appreciate design aesthetics that remind me of a medical condition.

I do hope this is nowhere near what Apple is actually designing. But after they released that lumpy battery case, I wouldn’t write this rumor off so easily.

What's with all of the talk on MacRumors of Huawei phones? I've seen the iPhone compared to Android devices but never people bringing up Huawei phones.

Probably just China infiltrating our public discussion to change public perception of their phones - but either way, this is new.

I saw these renderings over the weekend on Twitter. I hope to god this does not come to fruition - it's downright hideous. I'd definitely be compelled to keep my current Xs until it dies.
