I love that the 3 lenses are in an equilateral triangle configuration. It looks cool, and it minimizes the distance between lenses which is good for smoother zoom transitions. Form and function.

Looks like Apple is doomed again, judging by the comments
Nah not really. After the September keynote and after pre- order night more than 50 percent of these comments will turn into " Just pre-ordered my iPhone 11 Max 512 gig in Space Gray which will arrive at my door on launch day! So happy!" Or " Finally the status changed from processing to Preparing for shipment!!! Can't wait so excited!!!" So yeah don't go by these comments lol.

Seriously, how much better can this camera be over the XS?

Impressed I'll be when remove the notch they accomplish... ~ Yoda

Actually iPhone sales are down since the notch was cut into the screen. They will remain down until its gone.

Err you do know that has nothing to do with the notch right? That had to do with the market deciding they don’t need to upgrade every year due to increased prices. Apple are still selling more flagships than anybody else

It's bold, I like it. Shame it leaked so early that there'll probably be Android knock-offs before it is actually released.

The Android knock-offs only copy form, not function. Look at the notch copycats. None of them have transparent authentication like FaceID - users still have to hold a finger up to a fingerprint reader every time they use their phone.

So you think this iPhone is not a knock-off of this?

3 camera setup in a rectangular box? It just happen Apple moves it to the top right corner and make it extremely ugly.

Apple has copied enough of Android anyway... I have my confident someday someone will claim Apple is the first one to put three cameras...

Looks like Apple is helping me along in keeping my promise to keep my XS Max until 2021 (I expect a complete redesign and 2nd generation 5G Qualcomm chip) as I originally planned.

They’re saving you money! :p

Actually iPhone sales are down since the notch was cut into the screen. They will remain down until its gone.

There are alot of reasons for sales dropping, I don't think the notch is one of them:

  • Phones last longer / people keep them longer
  • People opted for new batteries (as price dropped)
  • Cost of flagship phones broke £1000
  • Competition in the Android space is strong
  • Chinese market slowed
[doublepost=1557442014][/doublepost]
That plus the return of Qualcomm modems AND 5G.

2019 iPhone = DOA
Apart from all the sales to the people coming out of their iphone X and 8 contracts.....

Sales will remain strong as there's only so many new phones running iOS.

I had to check and make sure this wasn't just an April Fool's joke! That thing is INSANE.

But the new square bumps... they're still nasty-looking for a company that ostensibly prides itself on a ultra-cool, ultra-modern aesthetic. This is definitely a step backward.
Haha yeah the mutant Light thing is preposterous. It takes absolutely great photos though. I love anything that lets you focus (etc) in post too because it’s basically a bunch of photos all at once.

It’s hip to be square? I don’t know.. in some ways I like how apple will do designs that, if anyone else did them they’d turn heads for good and bad.. Even if nichey.. there’s a sort of weird appeal to things like the big booty battery cases that .. look kind of wrong?

I think weird looking stuff gives character, makes the devices less bland. We risk everything becoming a perfectly polished silver line. One of the things I love about the new iPad Pros is how they swerved away from the air-like sleek design and basically went back to being a massive iPhone5.. A design that the rest of the industry moved on from.. (wrongly imo.. the 4 too, what a beautiful design that was)

You mention a number of points that have been occurring in the market for some time now, long before the release of the iPhone X. The decline started during the time of the iPhone X release. The notch may not be the only factor, but it IS a factor.

if you need a camera with the kind of power that this supposedly UGLY and absolutely HORRIFIC looking phone has (if it's true) then YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE A PHONE BUT RATHER A QUALITY DIGITAL CAMERA!!!!!! For $1000 I can think of at least 5 very very nice cameras that would take pictures a thousand times nicer. Holy cow what a disaster! Apple is so very dead since Jobs died. Say what you will but this is fact. The junk that is coming out of there now is scary. Oh yeah and for those of you who say this is not a big deal and it isn't ugly, then you are your own worst enemy. You wouldn't know quality and logical design if it hit you in the face.

I'll again stick with my 7 plus, likely until it dies.

I love how you think Apple is playing catch up with something that just came out literally 2 months ago. Get real
By the time new iPhone launches it will be 6 months after Samsung used triple cameras. So yeah it is called catching up.
Also it wasn't only Samsung, many Chinese phones also implemented triple camera lenses following Samsung,.. Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi, etc.
Apple is the last. Which is ok, but what's with this awkward and dumb design? why others are able to do triple cameras nicely but Apple must make them so ugly like a medical device??

How is this news? At all?

It's 3rd party, and renders. Literally anyone can do this. And all these guys did is assume what everyone else is saying about the quake bump.

There's no new info here, nor does it confirm or even assist with proving any truth.

I’m sure people have noticed the synergy in Apple’s rounded ‘corners’ in their App logos, screen & now rumoured rear camera. It all lines up, deliberately.

Apple keeping the notch design as if they think it’s some great inspired design.
Meanwhile every other company is developing no notch phones. Pathetic.
Do they have a secure, seamless & well integrated Face ID system though?

That tech governs the size of the notch.

& we’re still getting more screen with the notch design anyway.

It’ll shrink in 2020.

Exactly! I just don't understand Apples greed. They have a trillion dollars!
rs! My iphone xs is not worth $1300. I actually feel ripped off.

After using my brothers OnePlus 6t especially. Oxygen OS is virtually just as smooth as iOS, maybe more, and the gestures are almost identical.

And with Android Q being coming soon, i don't understand why people will either choose to get ripped off with the same designed phone three years in a row or keep their two year old or three year old device when there are other options out there.

Good luck that.

I don't understand comments like this. It's not like Apple is going to backtrack on a feature. When have they ever done that? This is just going to be an iPhone design feature for the foreseeable future.

They did with the iPhone XR when they removed 3D Touch

Huawei Mate 20 Pro launched in october 2018 and have a notch containing similar technology to FaceID with the dot-projector and IR-illuminator. Works the same way, even launches directly to home screen.

It also started the triple-camera-in-a-quandrant-design that Apple now has copied. The difference since the Steve days isn't the copying, but not refining and bettering the designs like Apple used to do. Standing from outside the Apple camp atm, and having access to most other brands where I live, Apple has simply lost its way.

Agreed, but don't forget the loss of TouchID that went with it. That's one reason I'm not returning to Apple no matter what else they do. The Chinese brands manages to have both at the same time, but Apple dropped the ball.
