2020 Macbook Air order status

Mine got here yesterday at around 1730. Loving it so far. Haven't heard the fan once, but I'm not really a "power-user" lol
For those that have received it, what’s been the general timeline from charging credit card to shipment? My card was charged two days ago but status still shows “order in progress”. My past experience is once credit card is charged, it either immediately goes to “preparing for shipment” or it stays “order in progress” for a day then jumps to “shipped”. Neither happening here.

March 30: Order status changed to "preparing to ship"
April 1: Order status changed to "shipped" (via UPS Worldwide Expedited)
UPS tracking doesn't give an estimated delivery date, but the package has made it to their hub in Louisville, KY (via origin in Shanghai, then Tokyo, then Anchorage).
I live an hour or so north of Chicago, so I'm guessing Tuesday delivery.
My order finally left Shanghai Friday after being shipped via FedEx Monday but waiting for a plane I guess. 12 hours after showing in transit it was in Memphis so I should get it Monday which is still 2 days before the start of Apple's delivery window. By the way, I was able to take my impatience to a new level of insanity and actually was able to track the plane at:

Expensive. I ordered the same. Actually happy it stayed processing for well over a week. Gave me time to decide to cancel, pay a bit more and get the base model Macbook Pro 16 inch.
Isn’t that $2399 vs. $1649 for the i7/16/512 MacBook Air? Granted, the 16” Pro is a lot faster, but the i7 Air is nice.
I bought it for $2.039 (Apple Refurb) versus $1,649 for the Air. For the $390 (23.65%) price difference I am getting so much more. The only negative could be the Pro is heavier, but that is not an issue for me. So for $390 I got a beautiful P3 16 inch screen that is much brighter, much much faster computer, dedicated graphics card, amazing sound with six speakers, redesigned thermals so little throttling. Oh, and it shipped immediately. I was trading in a 2018 Air so I know it is a beautiful, but low powered, highly throttled machine. I am grateful I researched more while waiting on this new Air... and saw the light
Sounds good. But you are comparing a refurb to a new. I get a corporate discount so got that exact Air for $1550.I bought it for $2.039 (Apple Refurb) versus $1,649 for the Air. I would suggest Apple refurbs, especially on such a new model, are just as good, or better than new. Very different than buying from a separate company.
I totally agree. Refurb may be a unit that has been returned within a few days simply because the purchaser had “buyer’s remorse”. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it was a faulty machine that was fixed.
Either way, Apple don’t let them go without thorough examination and without satisfying themselves that they are as good as new.
There is nothing inferior about an Apple refurb.

But my original point was ... for my needs and desires right now, it made no sense to max out an Air when I could get a vastly superior MBP 16, for very little extra money. Just true for me. Not trying to change anyone else's mind... well except maybe others maxing out an Air without thinking how close they are to a vastly superior computer. And even those people... they might value portability much more than me.
It really depends what you need.
In my case i need something more portable than a 16" machine; something i can use on economy/small aircraft seating tray tables, small server rack trays, etc.
A 16" machine, irrespective of performance is not ideal for this job. Weight isn't the issue - physical size is. Doesn't matter how much more powerful it is if it won't fit in the space I have to work in
To be honest, an 11" or 12" machine would be even better.
Incredibly jealous! I made my purchase 3/27 and still no movement- not even a card charge. I think it's because I got a 16g ugh

I ordered 3/28, 16gb and still no cc charge. shipping to Canada. oh the anticipation!
For me, portability is key. 14” is about as big as I’d want. I preferred the 12” MacBook, but understand why Apple went in a different direction (the 12” would have had to have gotten thicker to accommodate the new Y-series chips).

I ordered a 16GB model on 3/20 and it arrived on Friday. What was Apple’s shipping estimate?
Just had a text from DHL. They are delivering tomorrow. Original estimate was 8-17/4, when it was dispatched it was 9/4. Just had a look on DHL tracking and nothing has changed, still waiting for arrival in Eindhoven.
Me too-text staying it will arrive tomorrow. Original estimate 9th to 20th April, updated to 14th April at dispatch. A week early!
