I think he is going to have some very issues go forward. So much so I think it may shorten his career.
Russell Wilson is signed through 2028, but looking at a post june 1 cut. 2025 looks like it could be financially feasible to cut him. His salary is only guarantied through 2024. Just looking at the numbers here, it doesn't seem likely they'll want to pay him 40 to 50 million dollars when he's on the wrong side of 35

So I think its safe to say the Jeff Saturday experiment has largely failed for the colts.

I also think this is it for Matt Ryan - I feel bad for him, while he's richer then I will ever be, and got to play a game for his vocation, 2022 was an embarrassing year for him, and he really should have just retired a falcon at the end of last year.

Good share, I'm sorry though, I was talking about Tua... and the concussions tc etc

Oh, lol. Its Monday, and I'm a bit slow it seems.

Yeah, sadly I kind of intimated a similar line of thought with the idea of having a propensity for concussions once you get one.

I have a buddy that's a dolphins fan, and we go back and forth, on Tua. One of the main concerns he's had since they drafted him, is his durability. He had some significant injuries while playing at Ala, and I don't think he's been completely injury free as a dolphin. I don't think he has the level of durability that is a hallmark of players that stay in the league an extended time

Tua wasn't even taken out of the game after hitting his head on the ground. Maybe the sideline coaches couldn't see that (I don't know what side of the field he was on.) but the coaches looking down from the press box could see it. If the team really cared about him, after his previous head trauma, they'd have a spy on him for every play and take him out to be evaluated after any blow to his helmet.

Russell Wilson will play better next year than he has this season. He'll figure it out. I lived in Colorado when John Elway came to play for the Broncos, and I've tried to follow them after moving away. So I want Wilson to succeed. I don't think they should try to cut him loose.

Yeah, but given that this is the team that let him play when he was so wobbly and unable to walk after a blow to the head - I don't really give them much credit

The problem isn't just Jones (QBs don't know how to tackle, so they do cheap atuff like that), it's leaguewide - even D players don't know hoew to tackle anymore. They think diving at the feet of a guy is a tackle. It isn't. We are seeing more and more guys hurdling over these weak attempts to tackle.
Since I posted that remark Mac Jones did say on the radio that he intentionally tried to stop Eli Apple so it was definitely deliberate. He's getting a relatively minor fine—less than $12k. Not only was it a terrible tackle, it was completely unnecessary since they were so far behind the play.

I see the 49ers are #1 on NFL Network's power rankings.

Enough of this 49er love from the media. They are not the best team in the league. Bills, Chiefs, Eagles and Bengals are the top teams, the specific order varies week to week.

That's bizarre. An 11-4 team is higher ranked than several 12-3 and a 13-2 team? A team that lost to the Bears, the Falcons, and the Broncos (albeit early in the season). You skipped over the Vikings for you top teams. They have to be in the running too.

I don't know about the Vikings. They have 12 wins, but 11 have been one score. They never seem dominant and they are a Jefferson injury away from being a .500 team it seems.

Think it’s more about recent form. The 49ers have been good recently, while the Eagles had that loss against the Cowboys, and the Chiefs have been playing weaker teams.

Broncos owner Greg Penner: New head coach will report to me, not George Paton

The article talks about how the new HC will report directly to owner and this is the norm:
The new coach will report to me, which is a more typical structure in the NFL

I didn't think that was the case for the most part but maybe I'm wrong - it won't be the first or last time. What it does remind me of, is how involved Synder has been with Wash. and how his meddling kept messing up the team. In short I think this may be a recipe for disaster - its money and his team so he can do what he wants.

Hackett is gone. Thought they'd at least wait until the end of the season.
I can't say that I'm surprised but yeah I thought at this point in the season, they would have waited.

Fired with 2 games left. Should have been fired after 2 games.

Bill Polian, the former GM of the Colts, was being interviewed one time and he said you know by the 2nd day of camp if you made a mistake in the draft. You can tell that quickly if they can or can't play.

I think the whole world could see Hackett had outkicked his coverage in his first game.

Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa back in concussion protocol
This can't be good, for lots of reasons. First, there doesn't seem to be one hit that might have caused this. Second, those two concussions in quick succession is probably the issue. Third, they're fighting for that last spot and it looks like he may miss next week. Finally, he's living up to his rep of being injury prone.

I feel bad for him, and this is third concussion in a matter months? That's not a good thing for his brain health, both short and long term.

Playoff or no playoffs. For his health, he needs to be shut down until next year. Bridgewater is not a slouch so it's not like you are handing the ball off to Mr. Irrelevant. ;)

And this is why any coach with any stature will run from this job. No chance to get Payton with this nonsense.

Cardinals' J.J. Watt announces this will be final NFL season
I'm a little surprised, but I'm also a little not surprised. I guess, what is surprising is how quickly it came, and did so before the end of the season. Yet, seeing the health issues, and the abuse his body took, its not terribly surprising
I think his decision was driven by starting a family. With a newborn in the house, he wants to be able to be a dad. He should be able to make a good living on what he's saved, and part-time TV work.

That's awesome, I didn't know he's a new father. That's great to hear, someone with priorities that are in order unlike some others *cough* Tom Brady *cough*

As for money, I think overall he's more then set - this year alone he made 9.2 million

Bridgewater is not a slouch s
No question, when I first heard that Tua was out against the Pats, I'm well - that increased the odds of the Patriots winning - then I saw Bridgwater is starting, and I'm like whelp, there goes those odds :p
