Of course, but not to the degree we're seeing this season. We've seen bad game deciding calls in the past (ask the Saints), but we have this almost every game now, multiple times... per quarter... and even per drive. We're at a level where the "MacRumors team" could win a SB due to bad calls and injuries.

Kudos to the Eagles for being able to use this. They fumbled the ball earlier in a run and it wasn't called. Quickly get up and keep playing. Good for them. But where does that leave the league? With no real SB winner this year. Whoever is still up and standing wins. I find that very disappointing to the level where the NHL is much more interesting to watch than the NFL. Considering you can count the number of entire NHL games I've watched on one hand, that's telling you something. I'm not ready to watch baseball yet, but maybe... hmm, no... ;)

Mahomes doesn't look that bad, I expected worse. He's not fully mobile as it seems, but certainly not stationary. So this could be interesting. Looks like Sneed is out though, let's hope it's the last injury for today.

That game was over when Purdy got hurt.

This, indeed. I’d be surprised if they don’t stick with Purdy in the next season or so.

The other game, between the Chiefs and Bengals, basically turned on an unsportsmanlike conduct call which brought the Chiefs into field goal range with the score tied and 20s on the clock. Otherwise it would have gone to overtime and it could have been anyone’s game. Pity to see a good game decided by a refereeing call and not a sporting feat.

Until that game, I never heard of that rule.

Two things, first and foremost. Without that win, I don't think New England would have the dynasty. I really think that did usher the Patriot way into existence. Secondly. That didn't win the game it tied it. In OT, the patriots won the game, so the Raiders had an opportunity to stop the patriots and win the game in OT.
Never should have gotten them to OT but ok tomato, tomato.

It was a new rule that year.

And even worse... my prediction is Mahomes isn't mobile and that's why the Bengals will win. Then we have two teams playing in the SB that never would have made it under normal conditions. And while we're at it, why not decide the SB winner by injuries and bad ref calls too?

And just as I write this, Eagles player is pushing a 49ers player into the punter and the 49ers get the flag. Worst season for bad ref calls in the past two decades or so.
Yup. B*llsh*t call.

I had the Bengals winning as well because I thought they'd get to a hobbled Mahomes. nah.

Also the Eagles are very, very good. As are the Chiefs.
I can't say either team doesn't belong in the SB. Hopefully both Hurts and Mahomes are 100% by game day.

For what ever reason, if the Bengals made it to the Super Bowl, I'd not give them any chance against the Eagles. If the Chief's made it (which they did obviously) then I'd say the game should be more even. I don't know, but I think all around the Chiefs are a better team and Mahomes should be a little more healthy in 2 weeks.

Ok, ok. The first part of the game looked quite different from the second, the Niners defense held up for a little while only. But with the fourth-choice QB on the field it was kinda unlucky.
Yes, there's only so much a defense can do when there's no offense left to play, except giving the ball to McCaffrey to run it. At some point he played QB. Offense at least needs to buy time for the defense to recover a little after long drives. That didn't happen. Before the Purdy injury it was pretty even, considering the first Eagles touchdown wasn't really one, the 49ers were even ahead. But it all fell apart with the injury and the following fumble of Johnson. It wasn't worthy of a conference championship game.
They were standing on it. Stupid, but it happens in virtually every city and college town when any big celebration happens.
I don't know... https://www.outkick.com/eagles-fans-ambulance-philadelphia-chaos-win/
Somehow Kansas City manages to celebrate without destroying public property and climbing on ambulances, which prevents injured people in need to get help. And neither are their fans booing when an injured player gets up and walks to the sideline, because they're disappointed that he can still walk. Or dogs that don't catch a frisbee. Or intentionally throwing up on little girls, or...

We've yet to see my highlight of stupidity from a few years back: https://nypost.com/2018/02/05/eagles-fan-thinks-eating-horse-poop-is-cool/
But hey, let's wait and see what happens in two weeks.

Anyway, back to the Bengals vs Chiefs... the Chiefs were lucky, really lucky. Mahomes looked ok in the first half, but the second half really showed how bad his injury is. Anyone who ever had a high ankle sprain knows how painful it can be. I don't think there's much the Chiefs can do in two weeks. Mahomes has to do a Brady and hope his receivers are able to make a few catches. That last run he did probably made the injury worse. And poor Ossai lost that game for the Bengals. Not only was it stupid to push Mahomes, his knee had to pay the price (not sure if he's injured).

As for next season, I wonder if Purdy will start for the 49ers. They'll probably get rid of Jimmy G. The guy is underrated, but he's more injured than able to play. Time to let him go. Then again, the 49ers went through 4 QBs this season, 5 if McCaffrey counts, so maybe it's not the QBs but the play calling.

Broncos... well, that didn't work very well, but it was naive to think getting Wilson would get them back to Manning levels. But the whole team chemistry is toxic and one QB can't fix such a team. They either need to make many changes or wait for the next QB to rebuild.

Seahawks. There is potential, but I think Smith is not the right guy. They should get someone younger.

Packers... ugh. Rodgers needs to go to get them back on track.

Raiders... trade for Wilson?

Brady... retire already. They guy is the GOAT, but it's not getting better with time.

Vikings... mixed feelings, could be great (until they miss a field goal ;))

Yes, but at least it was the right call by the refs. Ossai lost that for the Bengals. He was sitting on the bench crying and I doubt it was because of his knee. He screwed up and knew it. But yes, it's not the way games should be decided.

The regular season Chiefs were SB worthy, the Chiefs from last night are not. But that's the Mahomes injury. He won't be 100% in two weeks. Not with this type of injury. They're going to pump him full of pain meds, so he can play. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays the first half like last night and then he will be less and less mobile. In the end, there's a good chance it will mirror the 49ers game. Short offense drives for the Chiefs and their defense will be exhausted and can't ultimately keep the Eagles from scoring.

One of the few. That was one of the worst officiated games I have seen in a while. Saying a play is a do over AFTER the play is over? Really. If you want to stop the play, then run in towards the ball. Don't say there was a whistle no one heard. Besides, the issue (clock) was something that could have been fixed after the play was over.

Personally I thought they should have let Henne finish that Jags game. I mean all he did was come in a drive 98 yards for a TD. He is one of the top backups in the league and he could have won them that game. That would have kept Mahomes off the leg and let the healing process begin sooner.
