Saying a play is a do over AFTER the play is over? Really. If you want to stop the play, then run in towards the ball. Don't say there was a whistle no one heard.
That was confusing, but they showed a short reply from another angle. There was a ref running towards the ball waving his arms. He came from the top left side and ran onto the field, but it looked like no one was paying attention.
Personally I thought they should have let Henne finish that Jags game. I mean all he did was come in a drive 98 yards for a TD. He is one of the top backups in the league and he could have won them that game.
I don't know. Doesn't Henne have more interceptions than TDs (I'd have to look it up)? That drive was good and Pacheco made a 40 yards run that helped. I think with this type of injury the difference in healing it would have made doesn't matter. You're usually out 4 to 6 weeks to fully recover... if you're a pro athlete and get proper treatment. For everyone else, it's probably closer to 6 to 8 weeks. But there is the risk of additional injury when playing.

One of the few. That was one of the worst officiated games I have seen in a while. Saying a play is a do over AFTER the play is over? Really. If you want to stop the play, then run in towards the ball. Don't say there was a whistle no one heard. Besides, the issue (clock) was something that could have been fixed after the play was over.

Agreed the Bengals got totally hosed by the refs.

This will be an easy Super Bowl for me to ignore, though I do somewhat hope Mahomes heals up enough in the next two weeks to make a big difference.

Jimmy G is out of contract, I can't see him coming back. It will be interesting to see what the 49ers do with Purdy and Lance — I think Purdy has done enough to earn the starting berth, but they invested so much to get Lance and his upside is clearly higher.

Good thing those two are on relatively cheap contracts for QBs, because many other 49ers will be looking to get paid. The defense especially looks to be potentially decimated by starters leaving for big contracts elsewhere, not to mention their DC taking a deserved head coaching position.

He came back because no one else signed him, but you're right, he'll not be a 49er next year. The bigger question is Trey Lance - he'll be on year 3 of his rookie contract so he's not really costing the 49ers any real money but Purdey did a lot better then Lance.

Agreed, it will be Purdy & Lance next year for the 49ers.

I personally think we could be seeing an Eagles 28, Chiefs 20 game unless Patrick Mahomes plays out of his mind.
Seems likely. I think the Eagles are going to be favorites by a fair margin, especially considering how beat-up the Chiefs offense was looking in the fourth quarter of that game against the Bengals. It could be a sizeable Eagles win if players like Kelce and Smith-Schuster and Valdes-Scandling don’t show up.

I don’t really have a favourite in this game, I have a faint dislike for both teams. But then I’m finding i have a dislike for many teams in the NFL. Except for a few I like.

I'm thinking 28-14 Eagles - I've been impressed with Mahomes' gutting out his injury, but I think the Eagles are too good for the Chiefs to be able limp through a win. Don't have a strong like/dislike with either team, though.

Ok, this is kind of funny:

So that's what it looks like when the combination of a load of accumulated bad luck, implosion, and big stage looks like. With a Tommy John surgery candidate as the coup de grace.

While what if's are merely a game, and bygones are bygones, one could wonder how a different scenario would had played out, with SF not losing to the Bears and Broncos (cough) early in the season, and having the bye and home field as the #1 seed. Would it have changed things? Probably not, but some fodder to fidget with.

The Eagles were good all year, and expectedly, will play in the SB, but too bad the game was a no contest dud.

Line play, line play, line play. A team can't excel unless it wins the trenches, and lineman who are expected to be perfect on every play don't get the glamour or credit they deserve. The Eagles have that on both sides of the ball, and it will be hard to bet against them. But Mahomes is a generational talent, and even a hobbled one is dangerous.

SF's QB position is never short of drama, and starting a new season with two young, cheap, but injured QBs isn't optimal, but given the cap, other contract needs, and lack of draft capital, it would be hard to imagine a Brady, or even Rodgers entering their equation. Yet that won't stop the chatter from happening.

I don't know... https://www.outkick.com/eagles-fans-ambulance-philadelphia-chaos-win/
Somehow Kansas City manages to celebrate without destroying public property and climbing on ambulances, which prevents injured people in need to get help. And neither are their fans booing when an injured player gets up and walks to the sideline, because they're disappointed that he can still walk. Or dogs that don't catch a frisbee. Or intentionally throwing up on little girls, or...

We've yet to see my highlight of stupidity from a few years back: https://nypost.com/2018/02/05/eagles-fan-thinks-eating-horse-poop-is-cool/
But hey, let's wait and see what happens in two weeks.

Riots/raucous celebrations after sporting events have been a thing in history since the 60's and 70's or even before that! And Philadelphia isn't even on top of the list of the worst ones.

Despite shops, lampposts and street signs being trashed there have yet to be any casualties in Philly’s ‘celebrations’ unlike other American sporting riots which have claimed nearly 20 lives in the last forty years.

IMHO Philly fans are the worst.

But really, for me, no fans are exempt. SF Giants fans have been known to riot as well... and are included in the article if only as a side note.

OFF TOPIC - Doesn't even include anything about people being beaten, maimed, and killed for wearing the wrong hat/shirt at Dodger games etc etc etc

Sorry.

You're one of my faves on here but that grammatical error was killing ... lol

That's really what I consider dangerous, especially those killed for wearing/not wearing a shirt. There was a son visiting his father, taking him to a game and one of then didn't wear a shirt and refused to wear it. He was killed. Kids beaten, vomited on intentionally and so on. I mean... that's really a low point and Philly fans are by far the frontrunners. I mean, just google it:

https://www.sportstalkphilly.com/20...es-fans-are-worst-sports-fans-in-america.html
and so on.

The problem is really, not only do they pull of that crap, they don't see it and refuse to accept it. Some people learn from mistakes and try to do better. Others don't learn from mistakes and try to do worse.

Look at the Bills Mafia... they're crazy, but they don't walk around and kill/beat up others, leave alone kids who want to watch a game.

A better what if regarding this game might be had the refs (or anyone else for that matter) noticed that Devonta Smith's 1Q 4th down catch wasn't a catch. That turns the ball over on downs and could have changed the entire game.

Coaching has to catch that too. They didn't. Blame the refs but also blame the coaching staff.

You're a good man @maflynn .. Did you get your run in today?
It seems life is working against me today. I went to this gym this morning and about 4:45am they closed the gym because the water stopped working. Production problems arose, and impacted my lunch hour run. I did get a small one in, but it was not enjoyable (mind on the issues). I'm hoping Planet Fitness will be open when I return this afternoon.

Its been a horrible day.
