Based on current rankings... there are still conference championships to be played...

It seems that Lane Kiffin is getting beat up in the media for his decision to leave Ole Miss. If you dig into the details, its really questionable as to why he jumped ship. I actually don't get why. He's making nearly the same amount money at LSU and he had a longer term contract with Ole Miss.

I was a fan of him at Ole Miss, I'm not a LSU fan, so I'll probably not be rooting him in moving forward

LSU is one of my peripheral faves along with Clemson and ASU.

It's traditionally a better football school than Ole Miss.

So, money aside, the prestige alone is worth it.

National signing day, and Penn state is still without a coach. A program as prestigious as Penn State, this is certainly an embarrassment, and a disaster. Maybe the program isn't as prestigious as many people thought.

BYU's head coach was one of their targets, but Sitake just signed an extension. Now Penn State is turning their attention to Iowa State's Ben Campbell. He's done wonders for the program, and with Penn State being a bigger school that should give Campbell more options with recruits, but the expectation is higher, i.e., like LSU, a national championship

Comparing James Franklin to Matt Campbell, I'm not entirely sure Campbell will be an upgrade over Franklin. I think PSU was premature in firing him so early in the season.

Lane Kiffin is Lane Kiffin. Mr. "Fired on the airport tarmac," though I never understood why where it took place was a big deal to begin with.

In the same way that Chip Kelly is Chip Kelly, and other coaches who roll their own particular way…which also makes them juicier targets for greater scrutiny in the media.

Let's also not forget that Brian Kelly's failure at LSU provides the roots for this situation.

He left Notre Dame to go to LSU.

Now, I don't buy into half the hype and haughtiness surrounding that program, but undoubtedly, it is a blue blood part of college football. Putting aside $, and that kind of thing, that was a figurative step down in stature. I don't think anyone could argue that Ole Miss is the same way for Kiffin.

my neighbor and I were happy that TEH_OSU is playing Indiana today, 12PM fun fun!
then sulked after I realized the game starts a 8:29 if one can stomach the pre-gam hype!

in a dome......

I was SO glad to see Indiana beat OSU. As a Duck, OSU now ranks up their with U of Washington as our mortal enemies. Moreso, it puts Oregon in a better spot as to who we play (and where) first round.

Looks like Notre Dame is taking its ball and going home. And both ISU and KSU are opting out of their bowl games too. Wonder if this is the beginning of the end for bowl season?
From what I've read that KSI and ISU are doing so, due to them having new coaches, and they really don't want to start working the kids with the old program when they're trying to develop a new program. The Big 12 is fining ISU and KSU 500,000 each. That will be an expensive decision.

As for Notre Dame, I'm a bit surprised they were shut out on one hand, but Texas was also. I do find it sad they they opted not to participate in a bowl game. They've done this before, but I think overall its like you said - taking their toys and going home

I'm not surprised VANDY didn't make it and I pretty much agree with their reasoning.

I am surprised, very much so and happily, that Notre Dame didn't get in.

I do hope that Diego Pavia will get a shot at the Heisman though.

Miami beat ND in week one, so they win the tie break - so to speak.

I'm happy to see James Madison and Tulane get in, they deserved to be there more then ND and Texas

What I don't get is that Alabama lost, are a 3 loss team but still made it in, where as ND is a 2 loss team. I don't think the CFP should be rewarding teams that lose their conference championship game with a playoff spot. That's just me

simply because Urban Myer told the entire continent they deserve to go
"as championship game loses should not effect a teams' playoff status"

I thought:
"playoffs? playOFFS! playoffs? "

Alabama will lose or make a more entertain game than who ever deserved to go,
and most importantly their "booster travel team money!'

So a total of 10 teams have declined a bowl invitation. This is embarrassing for the NCAA, the CFP selection, the bowl game invitations all of this a bad look for college football imo

1. Kansas State
2. Iowa State
3. Notre Dame
4. Florida State
5. UCF
6. Auburn
7. Rutgers
8. Baylor
9. Temple
10. Kansas

Yeah, it's definitely a bad look for CFB. I like what Michigan's coach said about it:

“You only get better at (football) by playing it,” Moore said. “The development that you get (from) these extra 15 practices and practices when you get down to the bowl site are super important.

“For us to be the team we need to be, you need to practice football, you need to play football. You need to have that competitive atmosphere, you need to have that physicality to get back to where we need to be. …

“These practices are so important. You take them all, you want them and you need them, and it’s only going to help us in the long run.”
