My read is that fans outside of Bawston like the Patriots about as much as the Red Sox during their reign of terror…

…not much, that is. ;)
The "evil" team in the NFL is the Dallas Cowboys and the Yankees are the equivalents for MLB. I don't buy into any of the negativity about New England sports teams. I think there is genuine affection for our teams, Celtics included.

There is an exception to the standard evil teams. Its the franchise that wins all the time. That was the Patriots. Its now the Chefs, but as long as Brady is broadcasting it will remind people of the Patriots. That is where it comes from and it will remain for a while.

Nah,
The cowboys are largely regarded as a joke at this point, and Jerry is almost a caricature of himself. The evil empire of the NFL is currently the chiefs. Everyone outside of Kansas and Missouri will root against them and don't want to see them in the super bowl.

You have to be kidding me, the general hatred of the patriots back when they were on their run is renowned - Outside of NE, everyone hated the patriots.

The thing is, people love the underdog. The patriots were that underdog when they were up against the Rams, but as they racked up SB wins, people grew tired of them, and the hatred sprang forth. What made it worse is the patriot way, the type of football that made it look like all business no fun. At least with KC, they look like they're having fun, that was not the case with the pats.

Some coaches must have had their heads opened up and their brains replaced with pudding. This had no perceivable impact because they don't use their brains.

It takes a special type of moron to blindly follow analytics, down 14 and chase 2 point conversions instead of just kicking extra points. It shows no knowledge whatsoever in the elementary odds or mathematics.

Atlanta deserved to lose for being stupid.

For those who don't know, Atlanta was down 14 in the 4th quarter. (28-14)
They scored a TD with 9:37 left, went for 2 cause DERP! and failed. (28-20)
They then held and scored another TD with 3:34 left, had to go for 2 to tie and failed. (28-26)

Tampa played like ass and punted at the 2:00 warning.
Atlanta got a FG and won. (28-29)

As throwbacks, they are 1-6:

But come on, except for that rare NFC championship, the bucs were famous for two things back in the day. The first was giving up on Steve Young, and the second was being miserable year after year.

Then came the glory of the pewter uniforms and everything changed.

Don't get me wrong, the dolphins have the opposite problem. They need to go back to the Marino uniform now, please!

You just kind of made my case for me.

I don't think even Cowboys fans bought into the "America's Team" thing when they were good, nor do Dodgers fans think that they are beloved outside SoCal.

First, LA people don't generally care what others think (something SF people should, but don't understand, in that intra-state pairing), except perhaps as relates to any subconscious insecurities they have when compared to NY in a rivalry as America's #1 city. Second, some of them embrace the hate, the most famous example being Tommy Lasorda; which is why I enjoyed him personally, despite not being a Dodgers fan.

Anyway, the NFL coaching hot stove is heating up, and theoretical chess pieces are being positioned on the board.

But, Raiders fans, this what do you think about this tidbit? I don't think going from one dysfunctional franchise to another would have aided his career ambitions, and he was probably wise to return to SF as their DC before trying for another head coaching gig.

Saleh interviewed for openings in Jacksonville and Dallas last season, and was also offered a hefty deal to be the Raiders’ defensive coordinator and heir to Pete Carroll.
