I gotta wonder if the Colts even thought about bringing Andrew Luck back?

Injured Qbs:
Daniel Jones, Mahomes Penix, Carson Wentz, Jayden Daniels. Joe Burrows (earlier this season), JJ McCarthy (earlier this season).

Nah, he left because of the grind, injuries and the painful recovery. The list above is reason enough not to come back in all honesty.

ABC baby.

Any But the Cowboys

He's got a cushy job trying to revive Stanford's football program. I don't think his wife would approve either, which also played a factor in his original decision to retire, not just his injuries.

College football program GM seems to be a new gig path for former NFL players and coaches.

Two more star players go down with knee injuries. Freak incidents, or part of a pattern? Either way, I doubt the NFL is asking itself any itself any questions about it.
Who else other than Mahomes?

The Patriots let one slip away, and this game for all intents and purposes was a playoff game. Now the Bills have a chance to take the division.

The Patriots have Ravens, Jets and dolphins coming up. The ravens are barely in the hunt, and need to win out. The Jets and dolphins would love to play spoiler. The dolphins have been playing lights out these past 4 weeks.

The Bills have the Browns, Eagles, and Jets. I can see them taking 2 out of the remaining 3

As throwbacks, they are 1-6:

But come on, except for that rare NFC championship, the bucs were famous for two things back in the day. The first was giving up on Steve Young, and the second was being miserable year after year.

Then came the glory of the pewter uniforms and everything changed.

Don't get me wrong, the dolphins have the opposite problem. They need to go back to the Marino uniform now, please!
I would argue there is one other thing the Bucs were famous for back then.

Coach John McKay and his one liners.

During an 0-14 season, McKay was asked by a reporter: "What do you think of your team's execution?"

His reply: "I am in favor of it"

Note, the video is there and will come up on youtube

Micah Parsons from Green Bay slipped and his knee went an ugly direction (I was watching) and he was out the rest of the game and feared perhaps another torn ACL or at the very least, a very whacked knee injury.
the injury was so painful, Alan Parsons Project felt that!

Aye yi yi in the sky!

Thoughts on Pete Carroll and Aaron Glenn? Both have failed horribly in 2025, though the Raiders are an absolute joke (sorry @pachyderm )

If I was a betting man, the odds are high that Carroll won't be around in 2026, but Glenn will return.

Glenn will return. He is part of the Jets family.

Its understood this wasn't going to be a quick turnaround.

The teams wide number of holes was known.

The square-cube law effect. Players today are bigger than in the past. More mass = more stress on the joints that doesn't scale 1:1. In brawler parlance: the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Edit: Someone really smart who can come up with a knee brace that is supportive without restricting movement would be an overnight millionaire/billionaire. Such a knee brace wouldn't just be beneficial in sports, but great for the common man as well. I would pay big $$$ for a knee brace that is supportive without feeling like medieval torture device.

It should be Fernando Mendoza, honestly.

What, not a foreign kicker who tries to bribe police?

Details of the Incident
  • What happened: Janikowski approached an arresting officer outside a Tallahassee nightclub and offered cash (reportedly $300) to free his roommate, who was arrested for trespassing.
  • The charge: He was charged with attempting to bribe an officer, a felony that could lead to prison time, fines, and potential deportation due to his Polish citizenship.
  • The outcome: A jury acquitted him of the bribery charge in June 2000, with his defense arguing he misunderstood the situation and was still learning English.
  • Other issues: This incident followed other arrests at Florida State, including drug possession charges (GHB), though he was acquitted of the bribery charge around the time he was drafted by the Raiders.
Sebastian Janikowski & the Raiders
  • Despite his off-field issues, the Oakland Raiders selected Janikowski 17th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft, recognizing his exceptional kicking talent.
  • He went on to become the Raiders' all-time leading scorer and a beloved, long-tenured player for the franchise.

they mostly linebackers and linemen wore them last century as they seems to limit mobility and defeated the purpose.
Elway had one he took off during the 1994 season.

we are wondering why cyclist are dislocation shoulders way more often in crashes than last century
easy, lighter carbon framed bikes with clipless pedals makes a quicker fall but no one will avoid those modern aspects.

I expected more from Carroll. History shows he's a slow starter in new gigs, but not that slow…so he's probably a goner.

But whether he's there or not, the need to continually tear down and rebuild a franchise indicates deeper issues that are very difficult for a coach to solve alone.

You know the old saying about insanity…
