Patriots Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for Julian Edelman and Bill Parcells

First off, I never really understood the ideal behind a team hall of fame, seemed kind of silly to me. With that said, I can see people like John Hannah, Tom Brady, Julian Edelman being inducted but Bill Parcells?

He was 32 and 32 - not exactly a bastion of success for 3 years (93 - 96). Granted they made the playoffs and the superbowl - which they lost. He doesn't have the wins, he didn't bring them the SB trophy, he didn't have much longevity, and he left in a rather ignoble fashion, largely disappearing after the SB loss

I’d hazard a guess Bill Belichick (sp?) had some input on this - aren’t they buddies now that they patched their relationship up?

I have never liked Parcells and he is the reason your uniforms suck. lol

Disagree because Parcel helped with the building blocks of the Patriot's winning tradition. Consider that the team was 2-14 the year before he joined and had losing seasons the previous four seasons. Within two years he was 10-6 and made the playoffs. I guess you had to be a Patriot fan to fully appreciate the turn around, but it was monumental.

You have no idea, I was born in boston and have been following the patriots back when they played in schaefer stadium , and Steve Grogan was the QB

Yes, I know he laid some of the ground work, putting some of the players in place But again what tangible success did he have that warrants induction - He left the team without saying goodbye the players, he only was there for 3 years and his record is a mediocre 32-32.

So do you think Raymond Berry deserves to be in the patriot hall of fame? He has a better record as the patriot HC - he has a winning record where Parcells does not. He coached longer then Parcells, and he also brought the patriots to the superbowl

Kraft and BB are not on speaking terms, I think Belichick is still salty in being let go by Kraft. Him and Parcells did patch things up, there was some sort of documentary that aired a few years ago where they met up at giant stadium and talked about their shared history and the good old days - it was really good btw.

Also I'm not against Parcells - he was amazing with the giants, but for the Patriots? He certainly improved the team but not so much that he should be honored - imo

Patriot nation is not a monolith. I have an idea ... believe me. Your reliance on record is myopic. The context of what Parcells accomplished can only be characterized as a complete turnaround in winning, culture and personnel.

With respect to Raymond Berry ... I would have no opposition to him going into the Patriot hall but he inherited a much better team than Parcell's did and did not help create a lasting winning foundation for the next ten years. In fact, the Patriots were a playoff team in 1982 and Berry inherited a team in 1984 midseason that was 5-3 -- so, no, its not really the same thing.

A team hall of fame is for the fans. It's not some objective algorithm based on total win/loss record and superbowl appearances. Parcells brought respectability and gravitas to Foxboro and helped save the organization by bringing in fan interest and stabilizing the franchise, which at the time was teetering financially after Kraft bought the team. So, no, I do not agree with you. But like I said, Patriot nation is not a monolith.

This is brutal, but it shows how professional athletes can have a measure of delusion. Its sad, that OBJ thinks at 32 and with only 9 receptions last year, teams will be breaking down his door.

Speaking of the dolphins, and the mess they're in. Tua's contract is absolutely going to wreck them in the coming years. This year his cap hit is 39 million, in 2026, it will jump to 56 million, by 2028, it will be 65 million. I can't see him being an active part of the franchise after this year, but cutting him will be financial suicide

Moving on to the browns and Shedur, It seems that the ravens and even eagles were interested in drafting him at some point during the draft but he turned them down.

btw, I do like this YTer, he adds a level of humor to his content, that is sophomoric, immature and childish - right up my ally :)

There is actually a way out on this after next year. It has to do with when the bonuses are guaranteed.

Yeah you can actually even see it in there. If they cut/trade him after next year, their dead cap is way lower.

Kyle Crabbs from Locked on Dolphins goes into exhaustive detail on this. But basically a lot of the guarantees are voidable if he is off the roster in 2027.

The NFL specifically advised the refs this week to watch for this after they did it in the Chiefs game.

Getting a little annoying. They just keep getting away with it. Two tush pushes with 4 and 1, two false starts that were not flagged, two ended in a touchdown instead of turnover. 14 points. The last field goal attempt was blocked, because the defense started before the ball was snapped, which allowed them to block it, pick up the ball and run into end zone for a TD. Another 6 points. 20 points total for free. 🤷‍♂️

The ban was only two votes shy. Hopefully, GB, or another team will try again.

If they made a movie about Daniel Jones, it should be entitled "Escape from NY."

Ugly win for Mac Jones and SF, and even uglier if they lose Bosa, but a win is a win.

I hope Mark Davis is a patient man, and allows the current regime a fair amount to time to do its thing, because the Raiders are still a WIP.

Same But get rid of Geno.

I missed all of the games, I was busy driving my daughter back to universirty (8 hour drive to and back). I'm not really surprised by any of the results. The patriots lost to the steelers, I was not hopeful, I think they still have a lot of work to rebuild the team.

Its nice seeing the Jets being the Jets.
I'm shocked at how poorly the Falcons played.
Any day the cowboys lose is a good day

The Lions came out with a roar, and put together a hard fought game. I thought the rose was off the bloom with them so to speak, i.e., their window of opportunity had closed.

Looks like the giants have benched Wilson, I think this is it for him. This was his last chance to prove himself in the NFL.

The question is now, is his resume good enough to get into the HOF. Personally, I don't think it is, but they have been lowering the requirements and voting people in that don't deserve it, so we'll probably make the cut

Glad I picked up Dart as a free agent in my fantasy league just before kickoff this past Sunday because my current starter Trevor Lawrence doesn't look like he's going to cut it. One good fantasy game, one so-so game and one horrible game, and his good one wasn't even that good in real life.

Still early so I'll hold onto Lawrence as a backup. Maybe the "generational talent" will show itself after he gets the hang of coach Coen's offense.
