Patriots Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for Julian Edelman and Bill Parcells

First off, I never really understood the ideal behind a team hall of fame, seemed kind of silly to me. With that said, I can see people like John Hannah, Tom Brady, Julian Edelman being inducted but Bill Parcells?

He was 32 and 32 - not exactly a bastion of success for 3 years (93 - 96). Granted they made the playoffs and the superbowl - which they lost. He doesn't have the wins, he didn't bring them the SB trophy, he didn't have much longevity, and he left in a rather ignoble fashion, largely disappearing after the SB loss

I’d hazard a guess Bill Belichick (sp?) had some input on this - aren’t they buddies now that they patched their relationship up?

I have never liked Parcells and he is the reason your uniforms suck. lol

Disagree because Parcel helped with the building blocks of the Patriot's winning tradition. Consider that the team was 2-14 the year before he joined and had losing seasons the previous four seasons. Within two years he was 10-6 and made the playoffs. I guess you had to be a Patriot fan to fully appreciate the turn around, but it was monumental.

You have no idea, I was born in boston and have been following the patriots back when they played in schaefer stadium , and Steve Grogan was the QB

Yes, I know he laid some of the ground work, putting some of the players in place But again what tangible success did he have that warrants induction - He left the team without saying goodbye the players, he only was there for 3 years and his record is a mediocre 32-32.

So do you think Raymond Berry deserves to be in the patriot hall of fame? He has a better record as the patriot HC - he has a winning record where Parcells does not. He coached longer then Parcells, and he also brought the patriots to the superbowl

Kraft and BB are not on speaking terms, I think Belichick is still salty in being let go by Kraft. Him and Parcells did patch things up, there was some sort of documentary that aired a few years ago where they met up at giant stadium and talked about their shared history and the good old days - it was really good btw.

Also I'm not against Parcells - he was amazing with the giants, but for the Patriots? He certainly improved the team but not so much that he should be honored - imo

Patriot nation is not a monolith. I have an idea ... believe me. Your reliance on record is myopic. The context of what Parcells accomplished can only be characterized as a complete turnaround in winning, culture and personnel.

With respect to Raymond Berry ... I would have no opposition to him going into the Patriot hall but he inherited a much better team than Parcell's did and did not help create a lasting winning foundation for the next ten years. In fact, the Patriots were a playoff team in 1982 and Berry inherited a team in 1984 midseason that was 5-3 -- so, no, its not really the same thing.

A team hall of fame is for the fans. It's not some objective algorithm based on total win/loss record and superbowl appearances. Parcells brought respectability and gravitas to Foxboro and helped save the organization by bringing in fan interest and stabilizing the franchise, which at the time was teetering financially after Kraft bought the team. So, no, I do not agree with you. But like I said, Patriot nation is not a monolith.
