I really don't get why the NFL is going in this direction. That type of injury could have been easily avoided by playing on grass instead of turf. Statistically, lower-extremity injuries happen more often on turf.

As for Hill, that's it, not just for this season. His recovery time will be over a year, and even then he most likely won't be able to play the same way, since his game relies heavily on quick cuts. By the time he recovers, he'll be 33. The only reason to come back would be for the money. He has 8 children to support from 5 different women and might be bankrupt before he can even make a comeback.
It was grass. It just wasn't good grass. The Dolphins Stadium has Bermuda grass. But this year it hasn't gone well. Can't even blame the Hurricanes, as they had a bye this last weekend.

Agreed on Hill. Either way, is $36 (or thereabouts) million salary is 100% non-guaranteed, so the Dolphins can just cut him in the off-season.

If I were a GM or coach, I would want to see evidence the young man studies film and takes this stuff seriously. Which I haven't seen from him yet.

The GMs picking players in the draft are far from perfect, but they didn't allow him to fall to the fifth round for no good reason. His latest antics also betray a lack of maturity. Nobody will tolerate that in their locker room unless, or until the player has shown they can deliver on the field.

The NFLPA is firmly in favor of eliminating turf. But it's another added expense for the owners, and the league will trot out statistics to support their position.

I didn't realize that Joe Burrow was out for three months...

He needed surgery. At the rate SF's walking MASH unit is going, wouldn't be surprised at some point to hear that Purdy will follow the same path.

From personal experience, one doesn't realize how important, and complex, the foot is until you've injured it.

Same.

Yep, I've had a number of broken toes, and also surgeries on my toes. Its surprising how such a small thing can waylay you
Dealt with capsulitis (the dense ligament structure at the joint, known as the capsule, becomes inflamed, and this condition is called capsulitis) of the second toe on my right foot for over 6 months. Felt like I was stepping on a pebble all the time. finally got it delt with 3 weeks ago. eventually they gave me a steroid shot last week. It's just n ow feeling about 95% healed.

The 49ers stole a victory. It was much too late for me, but seeing the result on espn, they were lucky to get a victory. The rams played to win, I can't fault them on that, but they came up short.

I had more difficulty with a busted shoulder (albeit not on my primary arm) than when I hurt my foot.

SF had no business winning that game, on paper or otherwise, coming off a short week with a skeleton offense and rookie defense.

I wonder if Sean McVay will install the Tush Push in the playbook this week? :D

But a win is a win, and a division win is the most valuable kind.

If Mac Jones continues to play like that, he'll have his pick of suitors for his next stop, like Darnold before him.

They stole the whole stadium. Sifi Stadium or um “South Levi Stadium” was full of 49er fans.

Mac Jones was slinging that ball. It was a fun game to watch.

That's weird
My thinking is that LA isn't really a football town and now having two football teams, its just not a priority for people. I have no idea if the ticket prices are a factor or not, but its been weird like this since the rams started playing in LA.

The sad part is, that's the rams were originally in LA, but fan interest and engagement. The owner wanted a new stadium but with attendance plummeting, they didn't really have much leverage so they left.

The Raiders left for basically the same reason, wanting a new stadium, but fan engagement was dropping.

So I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that the rams are not generating any interest.

To draw a contrast, Rams fans are not like special like Raiders fans, who remained loyal even after Al Davis jerked them around, and will still follow their team wherever they play.

After the Rams moved to St. Louis, they lost many of their loyal fans forever, and even after their return in 2020 and subsequent SB win, those fans have never returned. You could not find a flatter response in a city whose team has just won a SB.

There is no shortage of sports teams in California, nor things to do in LA, so that energy was redirected to other teams, including the Chargers and 49ers, as well as college teams, like when USC had its run in the 2000s under Pete Carroll, and were the toast of the town (minus the UCLA folks, and cue the "semi-pro college team" jokes). An entire generation grew up not having an NFL team, and that void is also difficult to fill.

I also don't think it would be wrong to think that Georgia Frontiere and Art Modell in Cleveland also share similar reputations in their respective cities.

So even though Stan Kroenke has built a football/concert palace down the road in Inglewood, its primary occupant is one many still dislike, or don't care about. The Chargers, who were refugees themselves after fleeing to/from San Diego, had the intent to build their own stadium in coming back to LA, but were not successful and settled for being a tenant at "Levi's South." A nice house, perhaps, but not a home, for either of them.

Similarly, Steve Ballmer's basketball palace sits next to it, in a town whose heart rests mostly with the Lakers, whose job was made easier by the Clippers and its former owner, never mind the success and history the Lakers have achieved in LA. I'm not an NBA fan, but my understanding Ballmer and the team are in some deep doodoo for supposedly violating the salary cap, so even the Clippers' current ownership doesn't lend itself to being people to root for.

According to FOX59/CBS4, the incident began over a parking dispute involving a food delivery driver who is claiming self-defense. The outlet reported:

"The second individual involved in the incident reportedly told police he was making a food delivery when Sanchez told him to leave and that he couldn’t park in the alley. The victim claimed Sanchez became aggressive and used pepper spray. This is when the individual claimed to stab Sanchez in self-defense."

apparently the hospitalized Sanchez hasn't yet issued a statement giving his version of the incident

PFT is detailing some disturbing actions by Sanchez, he attacked a 69 year old truck driver. Even pepper sprayed, he still tried to attack the truck driver and the stabbing was done as self defense.

In other news, the cowboys O line is decimated. Looks like 4 out of the 5 linemen are out of the game. In all honesty, I thought they were going to have their way with the Jets but with the weak pass defense, no O line, no real receivers, I'm not sure they'll beat the jets - time will tell.
