Ok guys can you tell m if you see jelow

Ok guys can you tell me if you see yellow tint i also have 2 dust spots under the screen that i can only see when screen is off and i have to get quiet close. I can also live with this since i got my self imac to learn FCP and Motion design but i have read many posts about flickering, black spoots under screen after 3 months. Now i am thinking before my 14 gay expires should i get my money back? And buy mac pro. Also on my receipts it say 220 fee if opened WTF is that. My imac is week 17 all is good except yellow

And if apple has fixed yellow tint issue what week i should look for this one was made in april

I took the images with pentax optio e80 in total dark and with lights on.

Thanks guys

Looks very simular to mine (the previous page) except your photos are better than mine.

Im taking mine back tonight, and will be asking to open the mac instore to have a look - i think the most recent ones seem the safest bet, but its still a gamble.

Im not really bothered about an update in sept etc, i just want one with a normal screen.

hm

yeah i dont think there will be update in september but if there is one it will be smalle. Did u replace your Imac? is it good any yellow and what week is it?

Not got a replacement yet. I took it back last night and explained everything - they were very helpful.

They have got a shipment coming in next week, as they only had another 1 in stock. So i said instead of trying that 1 they had, i will wait until next week and try one of the next lot they have in - because you'd imagine they would be a more recent build, therefore more likelihood the screens might be better.

So will see next week. Ive asked them to tell me the serial number before i even come in and check it.

Fingers crossed.

Not sure where to ask this but does anyone know if this yellow tinge, grey bar, and other issues are also affecting MacBook Pros or other Macs?

The 24" ACDs suffer from the same issues. This is my third replacement due to dust under the screen and inverter buzzing.

I'm more content with the colour shift on this than on the previous models I have had replaced. This is after calibration.

Week 24 with yellow tinge & gray barUS-assembled replaced with Week 25 US-assembled.

I can detect yellowing near the bottom and a faint gray bar, but it's at the level of "I-have-to-look-hard-for-it" rather than "It's-driving-me-crazy", and comparable to any apple display I've had since 2000.

No dead pixels.

I'm happy!

These yellow spots look like someone smoked while assembling the iMac.

Sunset on the bottom. Instead of the sun, there is this plastic Apple Logo on the front. No wonder, Apple's Macintosh is soon going to be going down.

Mine 27 i5 is Week 13, 2010

yellow tint on the bottom :(

The top is perfect, bottom yellowish :(
I ve tested all brightness settings and angles and places in my room, it is definitely yellow. I dont even need to take pictures, you just see it.

Damn you Apple!

Does Apple replace screens for free?

This only affects the iMacs. I had 4 with yellow screens before giving up and saving for a Mac Pro.

You might find this interesting though.....My friend baught an iPad and that has exacly the same yellow tint issue.

Still a very poor screen. You wont be able to do any accurate colour editing in any applications. You will end up puting more blue in your images towards the bottom of the screen to equalize the yellow. The when you print it the image will be blue at the bottom.

I have noticed, that if the whole screen is blue, red or green, then I don't see the tint, while it is white or grey, I clearly see it.

Yes, iPhones have the SAME freaking yellow tinge. Seems like from the same factory.

For that poor quality Apple should pay.

Serial: VM025xxxxxx
Had three of these Czech Republic iMacs and all had a screen like this one (the third). Anyway, I can't notice any yellowing, I don't know if you guys can see something?

Theres clear yellowing on the bottom right of the screen. Look at the 2 darker grey bars.

Hmm, ok... Well, I can't see it in real life so I'm happy with my screen. I honestly don't think the screens can be much better than this one. Well, at least it's nowhere near as bad as the screen on my previous 24" iMac. :D

Grey band

Hi all,

I bought a refurb iMAC 27" i5 just recently. Please look at my screen in the following pictures:
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3644/img0847u.jpg
http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/390/img0848j.jpg
In my opinion they show yellowish color in the bottom center area

In an unrelated issue, does anyone know why my screen show vertical lines (like an interference) when captured with the camera?

Thanks

Don't worry about the yellow, worry about the grey band running through the bottom part of the screen.

I have only one advice to give you, send it back get another computer (anything but the 27" iMac) cause you might get paranoid of seeing yellowish tinges and grey bands. I've had three iMac i5s on my desk, but sent them all back with dead pixels, absent WiFi cards, grey bands and yellow tinges, and switched to a MacBook Pro. First thing I thought was, "how could I have ever doubted the iMac screen was even close to acceptable".

Cheers from an ex-iMac guy.

I agree with this, went through 5 myself. There were other problems too though like grumbling hdd and backlight bleed

I agree as well.. I also went through 5 iMacs, and am now the proud owner of a 17" MacBook Pro... I am very happy with the MacBook Pro display, and love the portability of the device... No grumbling hard drive either, but it does have a little backlight bleed that I think is normal for laptops...

Same as you. Went through 4 iMacs and finally have a 17'' MBP instead. Very happy with it!

I would also send it back. I had 3 21.5" iMacs before giving up and splashing out on a Mac Pro which is amazing (and should last me longer).

As for the lines that only appear in the photo, its due to the speed/frequency that the screen flashes at (invisible to the human eye) and the way the camera CCD captures the image. Similar to when you video an old CRT monitor from an analog video camera. Its perfectly normal.
