Please take a picture of your screen with a camera. Screenshots do not show yellow tinge.

Edit: too late.

redid it
one has the brightness tweaked.
on way to apple store to see if they see what i see.
1200 bucks and i figured i'd get a monitor that worked the way it should.
otherwise i think i'd go with a mac mini and get a samsung monitor or something along those lines.
rrgghh

Yeah I see it. I also have yellow tint, I got a new mac on June 21 2010, and it also has the yellow tint.. looks like the issue still exists..

Some see it, some don't... I thought I noticed it when I was taking the pictures but now I'm second guessing it. There's definitely SOME yellow tint but from what I understand this is a design issue and everyone experiences it.. it's not a big deal... right now. I guess I have 1 year to see if it gets worse... let's hope not.

Chalk me up as another person with the yellowish tint issue.

I just picked up my new 27" imac yesterday and got it home and setup, only to find the problem.

It will be going back today to exchange for a new one.

Yet another yellow tinted screen!

Purchased 21.5' iMac on 14 July, and I too have a yellow tint on the lower part of my screen. So I'll be paying a visit to the Apple store on Saturday for a replacement.

there are 106 pages to this thread!!!..
can any one tell me if this is an issue only with New iMacs??... or does refurbished iMacs have the same issue?? .. i just ordered a refurb one.. hoping it would arrive and have no problem

Really? I don't see a thing. If that screen that you have doesn't appease you, then take it back and get a refund, as no screen is going to do. Save yourself some time and go get a Mac Pro or Mac Mini with a completely different manufactured monitor. There won't be any difference in terms of panel inconsistency, but in your mind, it will be acceptable as it will have a different badge on it. Then again, maybe not. Could be CRT blues before real satisfaction will occur.

Once you get the 'idea' in your mind that you see yellow on your LCD monitor, you will always see it, whether it is there or not. So save yourself some exchange time and take the advice above.

This also goes for the rest of you with 'yellow screen syndrome' so we can end this thread.

Of course the refurbs will have the same issue. Remember, the units have passed the factory tests OK the first time they went through.

I went to the 5th exchange of the panel and now have one with very minor color shifts (hardly yellow, but some darker band along the bottom). Plus a defective pixel plus some semi-defective pixels. This panel is "within specs" - you could take another chance of going for a repair, but chances are, you will not get another one.

Let your refurb arrive and decide for yourself. If it's OK, then it's OK. If not, send back.

SuAlfons

Picked up my 2nd 21.5' iMac, and it too has a yellow tint on the bottom of the screen, so looks like I'll be visiting the Apple store for a 3rd time.

Grrr! I think I'm more upset and disappointed than angry!

Just picked up a 21.5". The screen is acceptable. Slight yellow tint in bottom right corner, but i am going to keep it. (tired of returning imacs)

Actually most people see the yellow tint BEFORE reading this thread so it is not just 'in their head'. Some people just notice colours more than others. If the yellow tint doesn't bother you, then thats great. But if it does get in the way of your work or your just not happy with it, send it back and try another. I tried 3 before going for a Mac Pro.

Maybe you're looking at your screen through rose tinted glasses???

got my refurbished 27' imac yesterday... it seemed fine at the beginning.. but today.. i am seeing the yellow tint.. its not really towards the bottom.. its sort of in the middle and tending towards the right side of the screen and bottom..
at full brightness its not that visible..but in lower brightness it is. The white is very clear around the top left and progressively becoming yellowy towards the bottom right..
My question is..does this yellow tint thing.. affect the machine in any way? is it bad for the machine/screen?.. it seems tolerable.. it is noticeable.. but i am thinking.. i can live with it.. but if its going to affect my machine in any way.. I would like to get replacement.. I have heard/ read horror stories about this yellow tint - returning machine - etc... dont know if i want to go through it.. any advice?

It wont hurt the machine in any way. But if your doing any work where colours are important (photo editing, graphic design. etc..) the screen will give you a misleading result. Even though the yellow tint is subtle i found i was putting more blue/magenta in my work to make the images look natural. At this stage i had no idea it was the screen. Then I printed some images and they looked very blue/magenta.

I returned 3 before giving up. What good is a design tool when it gives you inaccurate results. It's like a calculator that adds 0.5 to 2/3 of your work. Inconsistent.

I live in NY and dont have a car, coupled with the fact that I live in a sketchy neighborhood: can I send the computer in instead of bringing it in to the store to have it replaced for the yellow screen problem? Mind you I've had the computer for a few months already but haven't done anything about the yellow screen issue (due to the hassle). Thanks.

Hmm, in the event of today's iMac refresh, a pressing question would be "Will the new iMacs' screens still have the yellow tint?"
