Sorry for the crappy pictures. Wondering if it's with the hassle of returning/exchanging?

I'm not sure if it's the quality of the pictures, but it looks to me like it's pretty badly tintet in your lower left corner. :(

If it doesn't bother you or if it's not as bad as it looks in the pictures, keep it. But if you ordered online, why not call them and have them send you a new one while you enjoy the one you have.

Yeah I ordered it from Amazon. They even credited me $100 to price match apples gift card promotion. I have too really stare to even see it, but I just want everything to be perfect especially for the price of this machine

not good, get a replacement and hope you get a better one.

Do you think there is actually a chance I will receive one that is better? From what I've been reading its like hitting the lottery to get a perfect screen. Can't decide if its worth a shot or just return it all together and save the hassle :(......It's just so gorgeous

2 out of 3 i have had my hands on have had NO yellow tinting....all 3 were BTO's from Apple's Plant in Cork, Ireland. So they do exist.

Here are pics of my acceptable screen. I wish I could upload better pics but the iPhone was handy and I'm feeling lazy.

The only concern I have are in the pics where I took a pic of a black screen. One shot is with the brightness up to 100% and the other at 50%.

The dark band across the bottom is barely noticeable but you can see it in the last pic. Honestly, I have noticed this only if I looked for it, when I have the brightness set low and looking at a white or greyish image, or during startup.

What do you guys think?

Acceptable ? It looks bad if you ask me, the right side is much darker, but if you don't mind...

I took some shots with my DSLR and they look very different compared to the shots taken with my iPhone. I think the iPhone was exposing for something that my DSLR wasn't. In other words, the iPhone was set on auto exposure while the DSLR was on manual.

What do you guys think of mine?

keep in mind they are iphone shots, and the backlighting seems very consistent/even colour to the naked eye. I also don't see the redish hues on the very edges.

It sucks cause I already returned a 27" with yellowing from about half way down. this one is a 21.5", and the yellowing is slight but noticeable when I'm viewing any whitespace i.e. 90% of webpages.

Should I just return it before the 14 days, or will apple fix it with a perfect panel in the repair shop?

I have a so-called high-end 21.5 delivered on 4 June.

This thing is perfect. I have done every screen test linked here and elsewhere and I cannot find find any fault whatsoever with the screen.

Yeah you definitely have a yellow strip on the right hand side.

pretty bad, huh?

soo, conclusion?
calling apple support and tell them to send me a new imac? >_<

The problem with most of these photographs is that they seem to be taken in a poor light environment, or with a camera that is totally unsuited (i.e. camera phone) or white balanced etc.

Take the photo of your iMac in a brightly lit room with the screen brightness set to what is appropriate to your eyes, with a camera that isn't an iPhone and has been white balanced.

Then, and ONLY then, will you be able to determine whether your panel has substantial yellowing.

Well, it looks good in terms of yellowing and it's probably a relatively normal backlight too: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1174626/

Unless you have color differences when dragging a window around your screen in those bright areas, i would keep it.

it's hard to judge, to be honest i can't tell if you have it. maybe it's just your viewing angle when looking down at the webpages...and that seems to be a feature of the panel itself and not something with your display.

My machine is otherwise perfect, but I can't seem to make a decision about whether to return or repair my iMac over this yellowing issue...

I've seen this issue before in the 2008 MBPs... I didn't like the issue then and I don't like it now.

I'm curious if there is any kind of utility that will allow me to overlay a gradient in the opposite direction, meaning since this screen's color temperature shifts from bluish to yellowish (from top to bottom) I could apply a yellow-to-blue gradient to normalize the color temperature.

Then I'd be happy about this and not care about the underlying issue. I've dealt with the same problem for years on my Dell 2407WFP, which was infamous for a darkening issue to one side. It was unacceptable for a while, and then it was just a nag, and then I ended up forgetting about it entirely.

So I'm wondering if this problem will go the same with me, and maybe I should just accept it and forget it.

Talk about sweeping things under the carpet. Yes just bend over and accept it...

I have a scratch on the bonnet of my car, it was there when i bought it brand new from the show room, the car cost a lot more than other cars on the market, however i realized if i never look at my bonnet or just use the car at night time then everything is great

My 3X Dell 2407WFPs at work are all perfect 4 years on... you should have RMA'd that as well...

Do so only if you want to see your own reflection in the glass.

Pictures to assess the progressive tinge have to contain only the screen image (and not reflections), so they should be taken in a dark room (best painted in mat black to avoid secondary reflections).

White balance is irrelevant, since you want to see color DIFFERENCE between different parts of the screen.

If you want to check the camera, simply take a picture of a white sheet of paper and compare.

The problem is not with the photographs, the problem is with the iMac screen.

I'm not sure why all these photos are being posted. It's pretty simple. If you see a yellow tint, then you have a yellow tint problem. If you don't see a yellow tint, then you don't have a yellow tint problem. Photos will not not make it go away. Seems the people posting want us tell tell them they got a perfect one, when most do not.
