God, I just got a top of the line 27 inch model, and I have this issue. Its so frustrating!

Anyone notice the similarities between the earlier aluminum iMacs to the new ones, and the iPad 1 to the ipad 2?

Both had the aluminum trim on them, and then when they changed the design, both had yellow tint issues.

Damn.

Yellow tint & flickers

I have iMac 2010 i5 core 8gb ram
about ten months ago I was looking for resolving the flickering screen problem for my new iMac in this forum but I have read that people had another problem for iMac the yellow tint I thanked God that I hadn't :) but the frustrating things that I have discovered that my iMac not only had a flickering screen but yellow tint at the right bottom .
nowadays the flickering screen is less it may be due to software update but yellow tint at the right bottom is still.

I also have Ipod 4 touch with yellow screen as I compared it with iphone4 screen which was clear without any tints I don't know whether it is original color of my iPod4 screen (Yellow) or not .

I think I will never buy iMac again or any computer product for :apple: with screen and in my opinion apple failed in any type of screen

I'm not sure why all these photos are being posted. It's pretty simple. If you see a yellow tint, then you have a yellow tint problem. If you don't see a yellow tint, then you don't have a yellow tint problem. Photos will not not make it go away. Seems the people posting want us tell tell them they got a perfect one, when most do not.

I fully agree, if you cant see a problem through natural use then its not a problem as far as I am concerned. All these people doing all sorts of things to try and prove they do/dont have an issue just sucks. Light down, brightness up, photographs, some people trying to measure the light through the posted photographs - its simply insane insane insane.

For example, do you really sit in a fully darkened room with the brightness turned up max when you use your computer - or do you just want a quick suntan :D

As above, look at the screen, any problem then have confidence in your own ability to detect and explain the issue to apple.

Mine has the virtue of being completely obvious, right down to the heavy yellow tint being more at the bottom than the top.

I think most of this may be psychological but I admit that this 2011 iMac is the first one I've ever owned. Maybe the 2010 version has gotten everyone paranoid? The whole repeat the resizing of the browser is almost like your trying to trick yourself into thinking there is a problem. Anyway this is just my opinion.

Got my iMac yesterday.
No yellow tinting, no dust, no dead pixels - screen is crystal clear.

21,5'' base model.

I decide to take this test before opening the imac to replace the hard disk. My screen looks a bit yellow at the bottom, now I'm not sure if I should keep it or wait for a week for an exchange to arrive.

The test is a joke. I have had 3 imacs in the past few months which all had yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen. I could tell immediately just by reading this forum or searching ebay. The test is unnecessary.

Exactly, look at it... if you see a problem fine but dont go looking for things you cant see... all this moving windows, people analysing photos .. drives you mad..

I don't understand why you are having issues with people testing for a yellow screen  . If people use 5 minutes when their iMac arrives, they might save themselves the grief of noticing it more than 14 days later when they can't get a replacement.

This thread gives the users a good template for testing it, because grey and white patterns makes it easier to spot. I agree, people dont have to post an image of their screen to get everyone's acceptance of a good screen, but i can't se the problem in giving an honest opinion. If the images arent good enough to represent what's shown on the screen, i dont think people should post them though. An iPhone's camera can make a good screen look bad IMO.

You are more than welcome to move to the "I just got a new iMac and it's perfect!" thread.

I bought a brand-new 21.5 (high end) inch iMac last month. I get no yellow, my display absolutely perfect.

I absolutely love my new iMac!

I recall reading about an email supposedly from Steve Jobs about a month ago, in which he said the yellow screen issue had been resolved. Does anyone know if the percentages of the poll in this thread have changed significantly since then?

Well, I just bought and returned mine on Friday-Saturday, so that should tell you something.

My 27" had yellowing & a grey bar at the bottom. Took it in, they agreed and replaced the screen at the store. The new panel has slightly less yellowing and a slightly more prominent grey bar. Not to mention that there was a prominent piece of lint between the glass & the panel when I brought it in, & that's still there.

Trying to decide what to do with it.... I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a perfect iMac display, or if they're all flawed in some shape or form, and it's a question of how acceptable the flaws might happen to be on any given screen.

Received 27" iMac a few days ago and

Yes, it has the yellow-tint issue in the lower left-hand corner of the display. It is a BTO that was purchased as a B-day present for my wife. The thing is, it's only noticable when performing the gray-bar test and even then it's not that obvious.

My wife is a photographer and will be doing extensive image work on this machine but she isn't that concerned about the tinting issue. She pointed out that when viewing and editing images, she will be looking mostly at the center area of the screen.

If the odds were higher that a replacement would resolve this issue, then I suppose we might think more about an exchange. The data in this poll seem to suggest that it might take several swaps to obtain a "perfect" display. So, it appears that we will be keeping this iMac.

As a long-time PC user, I must say that this is an impressive machine. Love the design and the display (even with the wayward tinting) is quite impressive.

It tells me that you presumably replaced it for the yellow-tint issue, but it doesn't tell me if a buyer today is less likely to get an iMac with that same problem than they were a couple of months ago.

Just got the base 21.5" iMac today and love it. I actually exchanged my 15" MBP for it and now I'm happy.

Tonight I go into my room (lights are off) go to Wikipedia and notice the bottom right hand corner looks a little yellow. But after seeing other images and hearing how hard it is to get a perfect screen, I don't know if it's worth the hassle to risk getting something worse.

My question is, does this issue get worse over time? I don't mind using what I have, but if it gets worse in a year (and I have AppleCare) would they fix/replace the screen?

Hard to tell with photos but I attached what I'm working with...I passed all the pixel test and can't really tell anything with the grey bar test...I just notice it with white.

Not to ask for approval, but what do you think? (And is there any way I could call Apple, get them to send me a screen, test both, and send back the worst one...or since I bought it in store would I have to take it back and get risky.)

EDIT - Does this only effect whites? If so I think I can settle.

Well, I guess my implication is that you're probably not any less likely to get one right now than you were before.
