So it will cost me 250 dollars to return my iMac :( I really do not want to lose 250 dollars, this sucks.

It's clearly defective. They can't charge you $250 to exchange or return it. You should either speak with a manager or call Apple and deal with them directly. I would throw a s**t fit if I were in your position.

It was purchased at an authorized apple dealer, Simply Mac and their return policy is 15% restocking fee.

He talked to his manager (he was a manager) and they brought it down to 10%.

I do not believe I have any options since it was not purchased at an apple store.

Would you keep this?

they can't charge you a re-stocking fee as they can't (or shouldn't) go back into stock...its faulty!!!

That is what I said lol

Anyways I ended up calling apple cs to see what the heck I could do. Beyond nice and basically said to take it to the apple store here in SLC. They of course would not charge me a restocking fee, since the thing is not working correctly.

I am also considering whether I can live with it. I have adjusted my screen and it might be acceptable enough for me at this point to keep and wait for the fix.

Would you keep this?

Would like to know too. I have posted mine and some said it's normal some said it's terrible. You might got the same advices as me

Well I received my 27" custom build Imac today, and i love it... I haven't done any of the tests yet but i do not notice any yellow tinting whatsoever. I've looked hard at it with full screen white background and a few different colors and do not notice anything. Maybe apple finally got it right??

Mines a week 8, 2010 build... my first mac and I'm in love... Applegasim!!!

Returned it

After number 4 I could not switch it anymore and had to go for a refund.
Honestly I couldn’t care less... I lost hope after 4 exchanges and think the problem is bigger than some of us are presuming in this forum.
Sorry that's my pessimistic view of things... realistic it can't be so big, otherwise sales would drop and Apple would stop production.
neither is the case. So sorry for my pessimistic note.
For now i'm leaving Apple. I hate to do that, but their is no other hardware choice, within Apple, that meats my demands versus price range.
Hope the next gen iMac and the iPad's are without those screen issues.
I'll wait until the next release or acknowledgement that there is a screen correction that works.

For now; bye you all and good luck...

iMac 27" 8GB late 2009 (W47, W50, W3 and W7)

Same here, SkyFox. 4 replacements--models made in both the US and China. All with yellow tint, among other issues like noisy screen, backlight bleeding, dented keyboard, noisy HD, stuck pixels, stuck pixels on iSight, dust under the screen, etc. Was offered a fifth, but ultimately went for a refund. Thankfully Executive Relations was a pleasure to work with.

Does anyone think this is acceptable. I had to take my imac in to a local Apple Reseller to get the LCD replaced. Firstly they were very rude when I took it in. and now i just had an email from then saying it was ready to pick up. So I emailed them back asking if it was OK to plug it in and check it at the store before I took it home and I got this response.

I'm sorry we don't have the time and availability to let you check everything in our showroom.

Now every time I have been in this store it is very quiet and I would need 5 mins to test this.

Oh man, if your pics do reprensent the actual colours of your screen, then I am already satisfied with your first one. It's really not that noticeable, really.

I will not keep that if I were you. This might not be noticeable during the day, but if you work with it at nights, you will notice it. This will be even worse when watching movies.

I had this problem with a Gateway 22" screen I bought 2 years ago. After an exchange, it still had it so kept it thinking it's normal. It's an awesome monitor nevertheless with lots of inputs and a Farouda de-interlacer (really a good feature at the time), but the backlight bleed in the corners still bothers me from time to time.

It does have a bit of yellow, but if I found one with that little yellow, I'd hang onto it for dear life. It's one of the best looking 27" iMac screens I've seen.

Here's mine. Week 7.

To be honest it wasn't all that noticeable until I sliced the picture in half and turned one side upside down. After doing so, you can clearly see the issue. :(

Just got my iMac. It had a new screen fitted today. God I am annoyed.

Sorry to here that. I stopped after my 7th (yes 7th!) store replacement.

I decided to wait for the next rev. In the meantime, I built a Core i7 920, 6 GB Tripple Channel, Raddeon 5870, PC gaming rig instead. Only spent $1,600 (sans the monitor and blu-ray/hd-dvd drive) which I already have.

Been enjoying it a lot!!! :)

I think the first one can be marked as 'acceptable'.

Week 49 iMac. (Bought last week off 2009)

At First doesn't look so bad.

Closer Look maybe not so much :(

I have had this about 7 weeks now and I have still not reported the problem to Apple! I have being waiting till I hear some positive replacements coming back from the people on here. Are do you think I should just go ahead and get in touch with Apple?

You might report them to Apple, since you will possibly get an email from them asking how the repair went (at least I did receive one). And of course, you will tell anyone you know to buy somewhere else. No need to be angry at the shop - they will be out of business sooner or later.

yellowtinge-2.jpg

As I posted in another thread. My iMac has no apparent yellow tinge at the bottom-- rather, a noticeably more saturated picture than the top. Also note how the bottom is more close to true neutral gray while the top is lacking in yellow.

Isn't that the same as having yellow tinge? I mean, if you calibrate the top of your screen, it will become neutral and the bottom will be more yellow.
