We're still in the 7th week of the year so how did you get a week 8? They don't exist yet. Best of luck to you at any rate. I think you're making the right decision. :)

You are right I was looking at the wrong number, my serial is W80068.... so week 6 ?

Something that I found strange was that this machine was sent from the Netherlands instead of Shangai.

Just received my invoice now, my serial number is W8008xxxxxx so hopefully I will have a week 8 machine to report on very soon ....

I'm starting to wish I stuck with my trusty G5 quad, however, Geekbench score for my G5 is only around 3,400 compared to around 9,000 for the i7

My new display has arrived for my week 46 27" i5; having it replaced tomorrow. My issue was not so much the yellow tint issue, but more so of color brightness uniformity; or in my case deformity. Left side of display was brighter than the right. I was told that they will continue to replace the display until it's perfect. Crossing my fingers; not holding my breath...I will report back with pics soon.

Week 46 27" with yellow blotches and arcs

And I thought my eyes were fooling me, since my photos look so good...or so I thought.

There is a yellowing in the bottom of my week old, (made week 46) 27" core i5. I associate the word pattern with something regular, but my yellowing is splotchy with arcing solar flares around blotches, so I am hesitant to call my monitor's malady a yellow pattern.

Just when I was thinking this switch from 30 years of PC to Mac was going so smooth!

Here are the pictures of my replaced LCD Panel. What do you guys think? I took them with my point&shoot camera, So the quality is probably not good.

Exchanged yellow wk 46 for yellow "week 70"

Since my 27" core i5 iMac was only four days old, I cleaned everything off it and took it back to the store for a new one. The sales person said he was aware of the problem but thought theirs were "new shipments without the problem."

They gave me a new one, a week 70  and I am not pleased to find my second iMac in five days with yellow splotches. This one has yellow up the left side, along the bottom, and in the very top right corner.

There is also a slightly darker band the thickness of the dock bar along the bottom, and the entire right quarter of the screen is darker.

My brain is still "PC" so I'm not sure what the "mac-thought" way to attach the photos is - I dragged from iPhoto to the desktop, so the attach finder could see the photos. (So far, most everything has been easier on the iMac than on the PC, so perhaps there is a better way.)

I have a phone call-back with an "Apple Expert" in an hour... I don't know if I should "move onto" this iMac or just "move back" to a PC. I have a really nice $300 23" monitor that is very consistent. Only problem is that it is connected to a PC...

Do i have the yellow tint problem?

5 Minutes ago my 21.5 imac arrived.

i followed this thread since a long time and now i'm not sure.

I see everywhere on my screen a yellow tint o.0.

I made 2 pictures (50% screen brightness, dark room). I set up the saturation in iPhoto, but i'm really not sure if there is something in the right bottom corner.

Please give me your opinion.

Sorry for my english, i'm not a native.

[Edit]
My one is from the 3rd week 2010. (8003)

It's a little hard to tell with the pictures being underexposed, but it does seem like there's a yellow/oversaturated band of color going vertically about 1/3 in from the right side of the pic. Photoshop seems to agree with me to some extent as well.

However, if it really doesn't bother you, then I wouldn't worry about replacing it right now-- at least wait until apple is 100% guaranteed to be dishing out near-perfect panels.

How about mine?

Expecting my week 8 custom build 27" by Monday. Serial #W8008****** Fingers crossed it will be great. Ill post back as soon as I can to tell you all how it looks. They told me a month wait but it shipped about a week early. So hopefully that's good news.

Yes. On the lower right corner. Just like everyone else.
Just compare it with the upper right corner. You can use the colormeter tool to check the values.

How do you test this with a colormeter?

I have a Spyder 3.

I would like to know if this is normal for the black-light bleeding case.

I'm about to call Apple about this but want to make sure first.

Thanks

No, it's not. I have one that has a little more pronounced and uneven bleeding than your pics and Apple says it's sufficient reason to send it back.

I think this is normal. I've had three 27" Core i7 iMacs and all have had roughly the same degree of backlight bleeding as yours seems to. If you're going to start with the exchange game, good luck getting one without the bleeding.

Unlike the yellow issue, you'll find that the bleeding varies greatly with viewing angle. Try it yourself -- the farther away from the monitor you are, the less apparent the bleeding is.

some backlight bleeding may be normal, but not in your case. that is bad. Typically people get one or two bad corners. you have all 4.

The only good thing I see on yours is the symmetry.

I have a Spyder 3.

What I meant was the "Digital Colormeter" Tool from the Mac OS Utilities folder. Take a photo of your iMac and compare if the L*A*B* values are neutral.

But you can also use your Spyder 3 to measure the colortemperature of the corners of your iMac. I had a difference of 700°K on my last iMac.

I have been thinking the same. Why four corners?

Hello ! It's my first post here.

Sorry for my English but, like your know the french guy doesn't speack very well.

Just a little information. I work on the electronic industry, and I know that the cold temperature has an effect on some parts. If you look at the the datas from this website http://imac.squeaked.com/results.php?func=b&id=yellow
You can see during the winter was more defects about yellow tint. Perhaps the temperature has an effect on the panels.

It's just a question, perhaps on the winter we will have no issues....

Why do you think about that ?

I have the issue on my first Imac (Week 53) after the panel replacement I still have the issue but it is lower than the previous one. I keep it and waiting for a solution.

this sucks. Man this machine is so awesome, but I do a ton of photography work and my screen needs to be right. Can you tell me what you think of this?

Assuming this is a Week 7 of 2010 model. I have the 27 inch i7 that I bought from Simply Mac here in Utah. Do you think they will be jerks if I wanted to get a refund? Images I have been processing on it all have this yellow tint to them that no matter what I can't get out. Not acceptable.

That screen is one of the worst I've seen, I would ask for a refund or exchange.

wow that sucks,

I was considering getting an iMac, but I think I'll wait until the Core i3's come out.. and when the screens dont have any issues..
