That's pretty much what the senior guy at Applecare told me yesterday, that they have a fix. That fix is a replacement LCD panel.
I hope it's true but i doubt it.

Through heavy, controversial manipulationHere are pictures of my first iMac i5 week 46 (the week full of yellowing) bought from the Apple store in London (Regent Street). I am satisfied as is and will probably ask for a replacement much later if I feel I can do considerably better.
I have been lurking on macrumours for a while reading people's issues and I wanted to return the favor by showing what I have. What do you think of this?
The picture was taken by a Nokia N95. I am also bad at photography and do not know how to adjust the camera.
Through heavy, controversial manipulation, I came up with the attachments of your two photos. Yours like pretty good except for some right side yellow and makes me think twice about keeping mine.
Now, having said that they look good, I'll add this caveat. Some cameras tend to clip the extremes, especially when shooting JPEGs. The two photos following yours are from my iMac i5, but shot RAW. The first one on the left looks fine doesn't it? But check out the next one after contrast, exposure and some saturation have been futzed with. RAWs will have all the information the image sensor can capture, so its possible (eh, probable) that your Nokia isn't recording everything on screen. Know anyone with a dSLR? (If you want to go down the rat-hole that is)
While mine looks craptastic after manipulating the heck out of it, you don't notice anything in daily use. And since nothing else is wrong with my iMac: stuck or dead pixels, whining or buzzing, excessive black screen bleed etc. I'll probably just keep it rather than go through the lottery system 4 or 5 times hoping to get a good one like others are doing. Not until Apple can basically guarantee the problem is solved (which might mean a vendor other than LG??).
I'm just not sure all this is enough to get worked up over.![]()

Even if it is true that is a Hassle to have to take your brand new iMac down to your local Apple Store for LCD Screen replacement. Why can't they fix it at the production line. Just replace the LCD Screens that are in the production line and send that bad ones back to the manufacturer. Problem solved.
What is so hard in that? Instead they are depending on the customer to complain and when they do , they ask them to bring it in for repair. For those who don't care about the yellow problem and will live with it then Apple does not have to worry about them.
I guess I will wait for the next rollout of the new iMacs and hope they get it right then next time.
Spoke with Apple again today. Having had my screen replaced and the problem now being worse, I am looking to exchange my machine or have a refund so I can buy a different machine and standalone screen.
Standard service is for a repair to be issued again. They said that a repair agent shouldn't be sending a machine back out if the fault is still there as there's rigorous testing done before its released. I explained that the OS X screensaver had been activated, so I'm assuming they used that to test the screen, the problem being that the yellow tinge isn't always visible, due to being dependent on lighting conditions and what you're actually viewing on-screen at the time.
So, to cut a long story short, no resolution. I need to call the Apple Store I bought the machine from now to see if they'll do a refund. Unfortunately its a 3 or 4 hour drive away from me, so its not the best. I was hoping they could rectify this without additional expense to me tbh.
Has anyone else been in this position who can let me know how things panned out for them?
Thanks.

Unfortunately with the reflections, it's kinda hard to discern what is what.Would you guys consider this bad? This is my third imac replacement - I wonder if i should try my luck with a LCD replacement. What determines whether they could do it on site or whether I need to bring to the store?
a week 9? so it's still a crapshoot.Add me to the list.
Received my i7 today. What a beauty! Unfortunately the iMac also has the yellow tinge, on the bottom/right, like so many of you out there. It's a week 09 model.
Ordered online on feb. 22 so delivery was pretty quick as it was originally scheduled to be delivered on march 12 (today is march 1).
But, it's going back, hoping for a better replacement machine.
I don't think the yellowing is tied to any processor run, it seems to be random with any of the 27" panels (and some 21.5"s too). The flickering has basically been solved by a firmware update.I am looking to buy a 27" iMac. Is the issue with the yellowing/flickering confined to a certain set up, etc C2D or i5 or i7 or are all systems effected?
thanks, this will be my first mac and I want the experience to a good one.
Honestly, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through troubles with your machine, however I have to ask. Why would drive 3-4 hours to an Apple store to buy it in the first place when you could've easily bought in on Apple's online store? This way you easily send it back for a refund. Common sense would say not to buy something that expensive from so far away not knowing if you have issues that you might end up having to bring it back.
Gray Banding at the bottom of the display continues to remain on just about every photo I see.
They can claim what they want....the displays continue to show imperfections that would hardly justify them being classified as "addressed"
