My second 27" i7 should arrive today, I should be excited but I'm not. Not knowing if it will be ok and waiting I think it could be fine. But now that its ready to arrive my stomach is turning, I know I will probably have a problem and have to deal with Apple again. :(

I hear you. My 3rd iMac is arriving tomorrow and I'm not very from excited either. Really hope it's problem free.

Good luck with yours.

Good luck Jacquie, let us know how you get on.

Apple customer services in Ireland are now waiting for the engineer's report from the service centre who wouldn't change my 2nd panel before they'll let me know what my options are. Not holding out much hope, but we'll see.

Just got off the phone to AppleCare.

They have just ordered my 4th replacement

Will let you guys know the outcome once it is here.

Thanks.

Ordered fresh from China, March 5th -> YELLOW TINTING STlLL THERE!

I ordered my iMac (i5 proccessor) on march 5th. It arrived today straight from China, and lo and behold! yellow tinting is still there.

This is my second 27″ iMac with this problem.

Apple, I thought you had resolved this issue. What’s going on???

Regards,

Disappointed customer.

Can't see why they would refuse you a refund. The Apple reps have been more than happy to give me a refund but they want to get me a good system and thats what I want too.

How long have you had the system? If it's over the 14 days then they might be not so inclined to offer you a refund.

i packed my imac after using it for two days! i received it on Monday and it had this typical yellow tint problem. UPS guys will pick it on tuesday!

I talked to an apple rep on phone and he immediately dispatched a new system for me. i will receive it tomorrow before evening returning my old system! They were really helpful!

He also said that I can always go for a refund withtin 14 days (does not matter how many replacements i had) and they were more than happy to refund but i am more interested in a good machine! They said if i have a panel replacement then they will not refund anything but the system will still be under warrenty (very strange though!)!

So i do not see any problem with getting a refund specially within first 14 days!

I am on my fifth iMac. The first four all had the yellow tinged screen and other issues. The fifth is a 27" C2D and it also has a yellow tinged screen but not as bad as the four 21.5 that I previously returned. I have been contemplating keeping this and getting a screen replacement.... still undecided.

If I do not return it before Saturday (14 day return period), I will be stuck with this iMac which is what I believe Apple wants. They would much rather I go through the hassle of getting it repaired "or not" than to have to give me a refund or an exchange. I would feel much better if my iMac was good to go right out of the box.

If I wanted to buy an iMac which could potentially have some problems, I would have purchased a refurb 27" i5 for the same price as my brand new 27" C2D. My chances of getting a yellow tinged screen from a refurb are the same as a brand new one and I still get the same warranty.

I have a strange feeling that not getting a refund or an exchange before the 14 days is over will be a big mistake.

This is my first Mac and what should have been a feel good experience is turning out to be the worst ever.

Well my second one was not put in the truck today, so should be here tomorrow. I think if its not right I will try and get a refund, I don't want a third or fourth..... wait until the generation comes out.
This reminds me of when I is was breeding my mares ai(artificial insemination) the waiting for the vet to check if they were pregnant or not. You knew if they weren't pregnant all the time reshipping (semen) costs etc. When he would check and it was a no it was like a kick in the gut....
Well I'm waiting to check my new computer for yellow....
I know strange comparison but relative for me

just got my i5 refurb today, I see the yellow tinge on the bottom of the screen  anyone else with yellow tinge on their refurb quad core machines?

Here is my new 27" iMac i7 come from Shanghai week 10. I think can see a little bit of yellow tinge on bottom right corner, can you guys please check it for me? Ive had 2 21.5 imacs this my 3rd imac but this is a 27". My first 21.5 had a yellow vertical bar on the right side, with pitch noise, 2nd 21.5 imac has pitch noise and extremly noisy hard drive continues to click. This imac hard drive is not clicking, I do hear pitch noisy but screen seems to be ok, I havnt notice anything yellow tinge until I tested with this image at bottom right corner. Im thinking the high pitch noisy is there on all machines, just depending on user's hearing personally I have very strong hearing but this does have the lowest pitch noise so far which I dont mind it too much now.

Well, according to that image, you have the tinge! Now, before you consider returning it, do you see the tinge in a blank fullscreen safari window? If not, then I would consider it acceptable.

I can see a little tiny tinge on the bottom right corner is that where you see it? This is only when the back ground is white there, but because I dont hide my dock the app window wont really get that far, and I kinda cant be bothered with all this exchange anymore.

As here Apple online in New Zealand must first take the faulty imac and then they send out the new one, takes like a whole week of waiting and is my 3rd one this is by first the best screen and noisy ive had out of the 3.

Eh, I don't think the tinge is that bad. There have been many far worse screens (as well as a few better screens) posted. I called tinge because I see that the lower bar is "darker" than the upper one.

You might want to post more photos (for the most accurate test, get the center of the screen in the center of the image, and make sure that the camera is perpendicular to the screen and not at an angle).

Here is the copy paste test:

This replacement i only received 2 days ago. I need a refund so I can buy a PC. I dont want another Mac...... very poor quality and very poor service.

copy paste test? have u took a screen shot of the bottom grey bar and then cut and pasted it to the top?

this suggests that the the bottom grey bar on the test page is actually colored differently to the top one..irrespective of the screen...!?!

Surely a screenshot would show perfection each time...I dont understand how ur image is still showing yellow on the pasted bar at the top?? (unless your screen was always yellow at the top ?

Apple have called me and said they will over-rule the repair centre and insist that they replace my screen again, so I'll be back down there with it next week.

With talk of weeks 8, 9, 10 and so on, STILL having problems with yellow tinted screens reinforces the notion that Apple didn't really address anything other than acknowledging and offering refund or replacement. It would seem then that they didn't tweak anything and are still selling defective screens.

At this point, you either have to live with a yellow screen or get a refund. They won't by any change in this situation. The Apple screen has inherent flaws. This will most likley not change for a while until Apple revamps the iMac which wont be for a while.

Here's an excellent analysis as to WHY Apple won't be able to fix this yellow tint problem:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/872918/

It has everything to do with the patented design Apple is utilizing as described in the link.

Here's a picture of my week 9 replacement i7. The screen looks about as uniform as it can get. This is my 7th replacement. All of the other iMac's suffered from yellow tinge. The only problem with this one (other than back light bleed) is that the power supply buzzes whenever the power output is low. Do you think I should go the repair route and have the power supply replaced rather than attempting yet another exchange? It's kind of nice having a normal screen for once.

This is one of the best screens I've seen so far!

I would go the repair route for the power supply and not gamble with another replacement.

Here is my second 27" corei7
