Better be available in matte..

I'd assume they'll be discontinuing the 30" Cinema Display, so they have to offer this in matte. An all glossy display lineup isn't great..

I thought the same thing… Are they trying to scare away their pro customers?

I think we still have 1-2 months before the iMacs come out.

Again, the stock of those units is running out. Do you really think they would go 4-8 weeks of having them be unavailable?

I would like to see an all new case design for the Mac pro, that old space heater design is donkeys now!

Gee, that's a shame...too bad you can't, you know, put it on the floor under your desk or something so you don't have to stare at it all day.

I use my Xbox 360 for gaming.. but would like to upgrade my quad G5, for Web design. I wonder how much trade in value Apple will give?

I've got a 25.5" vizio monitor that looks great, and for a tiny fraction of the cost of an overpriced Apple monitor. It has a glass screen, and works GREAT! Price? $400, at Costco (no longer available. sorry!)

The Vizio isn't that great, sorry.

Love how the black goes right to the edge on these mockups. I want to buy an iMac and they've got rid of the other edges on them but they should go all the way and extend the black area all the way down the screen.

Well this isnt game stop so there is no trade in value. But you can sell your G5 on eBay or on craigslist. I've seen some Quad G5's go for around $900-$1200 on eBay depending whats under the hood.

6 years after 2560x1600 30 inch screens you'll now get now get a 2560x1440 27 inch screen as glossy-only. Do you believe that? I don't think so.

There must be a higher res screen to attract customers. Say 3840x2400 (based on DisplayPort 1.2) on 36 inch screen.

Yeah, they'll get right on that, given that every WQUXGA monitor that was produced sucked *and* has been discontinued:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WQUXGA#WQUXGA

It's certainly possible to support such a display over DisplayPort (avoiding the massive levels of suck caused by the need for 2 or 3 synchronized DVI connections that messed up the 2007 monitors) but even Apple can't just make the panel manufacturers start building panels *just* for them...

who the f**k is John Gruber?!

Your standard bottom-feeding professional blogger type.

Actually, John Gruber is an analyst who in the past has had a very good track record of finding out and revealing, in his ever-so-subtle fashion, Apple's product release plans in advance (though often not very far in advance). In fact, some have speculated (myself included) that he has been let in on a sanctioned leak for when Apple wants to drum up some positive press. When he's confident about something, he's often right.

Yea except your little BenQ display doesn't come close to Apples displays when it comes to picture quality.

There is a reason why they cost as much as they do. It doesn't matter if the display is from Apple, Dell etc. etc. When you use a IPS panel it will cost a lot more because it is a much better panel. TN panels are cheap and can't compare to a IPS display.

That being said I would except Apples 27" display to cost $1200 - $1300. Will have some speakers and a few USB ports. USB3 would be nice to have as well.

Dell charges $1099 for theres http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=224-8284

Yah, there's no chance apple cinema displays are going to have speakers in them... if you're investing in a system that's expected to stay put, you're not going to settle for the audio quality that can only come out of what will fit in a monitor. Apple is about designs that do their one task well, and that doesn't include a speaker in an external monitor. Also, why would the pricepoint be $1200? for that you could get a fully functional Imac that can also be used as a monitor. I think you'll see the price at sub $1000 or even lower.

What are you talking about? The current 24" LED Cinema Displays have built in speakers and are pretty decent quality too. I'm more than sure that the 27" Cinema Displays will have speakers built in as well, perhaps even better quality.

Umm, you do realize that they current 24" Apple Cinema LED Display has speakers in it, right? Built-in iSight camera, mic, and speakers.

I think it's safe to say that any new displays they introduce will likely have all three of those as well.

Besides accurately predicting the last iMac update - what other predictions has he nailed?

Watch them introduce a 27-inch retina LED-backlight IPS cinema display for like $5,000, and yes, that would be the official name, apple didn't like iDisplay.

bluetooth keyboard and teh trackpad seem to share similar profile...

imagine the trackpad + bt keyboard combo...would be pretty sweet! :apple:

How early tomorrow morning will Apple update their online site/store? When will we know if there's been an update so I can place my order?

Apple displays cost sooooooooooo much, you might as well buy a brand new HDTV with LED edge-backlit...

I already got my 1080p HD LED backlit widescreen ready for the new Mac Pros. :D

That actually is a great idea. More real estate and better picture.

That's one recent one. He's not perfect, he's definitely missed some, but I think he's probably gotten more right than wrong, at least in recent times.

Last I checked only the 27" iMac was able to be used as a monitor.

On a side note, I am very interested to get my hands on a 6 core Mac Pro with dual 27" Cinema Displays I don't get much glare where I work, so bring them on. I actually only wish that Apple wouldn't put 3 useless USB ports on this new display. We need some FW love.

Seriously? There has to be dozens, if not hundreds, of threads which contain the answer to these questions.
