I'd also rather that Apple NOT come after MacRumors for hosting NDA materials, too, thanks.

Please tell me if there is Arabic keyboard option when you click the "Earth Icon" in the keyboard?

Thanks

Hi. Thank you for the sharing the screen shots. I appreciate it.

I do have a few questions. If you could answer some or all of these, I would really appreciate it. I don't ask you to post screenshots but obviously it would be nice.

-Is there a vibrate-then-ring option?
-A few posters said the phone now shows call duration- screenie?
-A poster said you can now add a contact while in a phone call-screenie?
-It doesn't appear that you can cancel an outgoing SMS, can you confirm this?
-How does the note/to-do syncing work on the Mac/PC side?
-It doesn't appear that there is a SMS char count, can you confirm this?
-What about the ability to delete a single missed call without having to clear all recents?
-Is there an option for repeat alerts for missed calls
-When a MMS comes in, does it preview like a text, and is there a quick reply option?

screenie? sounding a bit like a female teenage geek are we?
but to answer your last question (as the OP isn't sure, seeing as wise old ATT won't allow MMS to work yet) I have seen a screenshot of what you are asking. It comes in with the normal text alert bubble, and shows the picture you received, instead of text (not sure how it handles if there's text along with the picture)

Hey OP, so you can delete individual texts right? Mind posting a screenshot of that? Thanks!:D

Sure thing! Works a lot like Mail. Anything else let me know.

LOL when the :apple:APPolice:apple: come in and cry foul.

Everyone here is old enough to understand what they are doing. If they risk it, it's THEIR risk.

I wonder how many Palm, BlackBerry, and other handset developers at this moment have their own versions of 3.0 Beta on test phones and are what Apple will most likely shore up resources towards to patent and copyright as much as they can to protect the intellectual property. So, I think :apple: will probably keep tabs on forums but not pursue any bad PR unless there is some extreme circumstance.

Currently you can press the home button to go back to the first home screen.

Will doing that now take you to Spotlight or the first home screen?

Thanks.

If you press the home button one time it will take you to the first home screen and if you press the button twice it will take you to Spotlight.

also if you're already on the 1st home screen then it will go to spotlight with just one press of the home button

Is the tethering option standard? Or do you have to unlock it, as another forum post mentioned?

I really need access to the tethering option ... guess if its not standard on 3.0, I can always rely on PdaNet. Thank god the iPhone dev team say it is jailbreakable.

First, I would like to thank the OP for the screenshots. They look great and it appears 3.0 is making the iPhone an actual smartphone. I don't know whether to thank Apple or Palm for this, though. 3.0 eliminates 99% of my problems with the iPhone. As for the people hating on the OP for the screenshots, he's an adult and I'm sure he can take of himself. We don't need to worry about any of his consequences. As for MR's rules, I'm sure if the screenshots are "illegal," then the Admins can deal with them, not random posters crying foul.

I really can't imagine Apple having a problem with screenshots, they just previewed every interesting "screenshot" anyway. Its public knowledge.

That said, the NDA that you signed (or probably didn't) is enough to have your account canceled and devices remote-wiped if it tickles Apple the right way.

Honestly I feel like this beta release, being public rather than private, is just one giant advertising scheme (on top of its obvious usefulness).

They probably don't care, as long you are making someone else want 3.0 (and not hacking or distributing it)

Good ole :apple:

This is why they can still be in thriving business when other industry leaders tank.

That feature is still inactive (hidden). It was discovered in plist files, then hacked to turn it on.

It blows my mind how many people come right out and say, "Please I NEED a free tethering option immediately."

Ridiculous.

gillilandboy,

1- What happens if you click the edit button in this picture?

can you post a screenshot of that?

2- Are you getting any contact result in the Spotlight if you're searching for a "numbers" that already saved in your contact list??

thx,

That was a great question that I immediately wanted to test. Alas, typing numbers into spotlight doesn't return contacts.

The only result I could get, at all, was the number "7" found 7Cities app.

Edit: Spoke too soon, individual integers do bring up search results across the phone (songs, emails, appts) but strings of numbers quickly eliminate that. Also, no contacts results no matter what.

Great question
