Verizon has unlimited calling anytime - anywhere in the U.S. for $99. Who needs rollover minutes?

$99? That's a ripoff if I can get virtually unlimited minutes because of rollover for only $59.99. Also, I can get 900 for $79.99 for even more in rollover.

I like everything I've heard. Only two wishes:

1) Stay away from plastic. I have started to associated it with cheapness now that Apple has moved away from it, and I like the idea of not using oil, and something so much more elemental like metal.

2) A skip button on the iPhone/iPod Touch. OK, so I've never used an iPhone but I assume it's like the Touch where there are no hard button music controls. As cool as Multi-Touch is, I'm a skipper: I skip music often, and would like to be able to without having to take the device out of my pocket.

I like it alot think the black looks really good, I might have to face the wrath of my girlfriend and buy my second iphone:D:D:D:D

Mostly good news but I really hope they don't go with plastic, especially glossy black.

This doesn't only means scratches but scratches that really show, and what about finger prints. Bad idea for a product that's going to be placed in pockets with other items and on desks and tables...hope apple doesn't make that mistake.

More fuel to the "fake" fire

The phone says 8gb, I doubt Apple will release a 3g 8gb iPhone....considering it seems they are phasing out the 2g 8 giggers.

Most likely Zirconia

Hi everyone,
First posting today. You made me to do that.

I'm baffled that no one really thinks out of the Box, Apple-like.

The Magic Word here is

CERAMICS.

Lightweight, scratch-resistant and no Problems with Signal reception (microwave dish, anyone !?)

And the Photo Shows exactly that.
Although Carbon Fiber would be cool, but could Not be polished this way.

I don't think that ceramics would work because it's fairly brittle, but Zirconia (Cubic Zirconia) has th same properties as ceramics (scratch resistant, lightweight, good for radio signals) and extremely resistant to shocks. apple applied for a patent to use Cubic Zirconia on mobile devices back in 2006. This may be a good opportunity to use that patent.

thats exactly what i was thinking

if all this info is true it looks like ill stick with my blackjackII a little longer until a phone comes out that truly is revolutionary

interesting... now i'm kinda glad the iPhone hasn't yet been (officially) available in Canada...

Great way to justify it... we've been enjoying the current model AND will enjoy the new model. We've had the choice to wait, you (legitimately) haven't.

Couldn't the back be ceramic, not plastic? Didn't I read something about Apple and ceramics? That would be pretty cool.

GPS would be great. I guess a little thicker is OK, but if they can get it lighter, maybe via ceramics or carbon fiber, that would be a big plus.

It culd easily be ceramic, however I wonder if it wuld be brittle and break easily when drpped.

press the microphone on the earphones twice to move on one track.

i rekon the back will be utilized somehow, so much wasted space for a device hungry for acreage. E-ink keyboard?

Proximity sensor on the front, 3g and gps also(obviously).

Well, thats what i want anyway. And probably more accurate prediction than this yukky shiney backed monstrosity, last i knew apple had taste.

Regarding GPS in the iPhone

Ahh,

GPS in the iPhone! I'll stop using my Garmin Nuvi 350, provided Apple's GPS has intelligent route choice. Garmin's does not, period. It'll get me where I am going, but as I begin to see what it is doing, it often infuriates me.

Also, for my wish list, if possible: a good method of selecting an alternate route to a location. Why? Let's say I'm on Main street, headed to an address on Main, but there's been an accident, or there is road work underway. It'll take forever if I stay on Main. Let me quickly and easily select a route that takes me off Main street, and give me choices. The Nuvi 350 sometimes comes through, but usually it keeps trying to send me back to Main street if I veer off. When I mentioned this to a Garmin tech, he could only suggest a clumsy work around that is impractical to implement while driving.

These observations are after owning the 350 for about two years. If anyone can get it right, it's Apple!

Nah, knowing Apple, it'll be solid diamond.

I also really hope I can tether this thing...

The ability to tether would be the only thing that would make me upgrade. I don't care about GPS (the Google maps feature is fine); I don't care about 3G by itself (EDGE/Wi-Fi is fine). But if I could tether and access 3G/EDGE with my Macbook through my iPhone, Steve can have another $600 of my money. And AT&T could have a little bit more each month, too, if necessary.

Has anyone heard anything about tethering??? (aside from the spazzy jailbroken tether "option")

You're not suggesting 3G isn't important, are you? If tethering were the only new feature, that would be the FAIL of the century.

Steve Jobs, onstage: "Presenting, iPhone 2.0! No 3G, but it tethers!"

Plastic reason?

Is it possible that they had to go with plastic to allow the GPS to work properly. Originally had small plastic area for the WIFI and Cell Antenna areas, so makes no since that they would have any less plastic only more.
