4.2.1 Greenpois0n

just used gp on iphone 3gs worked good just installing cydia all done. now how do you get rid of the gp boot icon.
 
Cydia Issues

Installed Greenpois0n 4.2.1 RC5 last night on IP4. Everything seems to work as before except when I try and access Cydia. The icon is there and it starts up but at the very top it says 'updating database' this goes for a few minutes and then 'downloading release.gpg', 'downloading packages' then finally 'host unreachable'.
Do I have to install Cydia through Redsnow?
 
Just want to throw in my two cents. I successfully ran the untethered greenpoison over a previously tethered redsnow. Untethered jailbreak was working but Cydia was broken. Then reinstalled Cydia through redsnow. Now all is good again.
 
Sucessfully JB and installed Cydia thru RedSnow and i'm getting a NOTE: Cannot Locate Package
The package NSCFString cannot be found in your current sources. I might recommend installing more sources.

This issue may also be caused by a number of other factors. The most common one is that your package catalog is out of date. To manually refresh, click refresh button on the changes tab. This package may simply no longer exist. It is also possible you are using an old firmware version: user should attempt to remain reasonably up to date with Apple's firmware releases.


I'm not to experience with JB so don't hound me please. lol

not sure if this is related to greenpoison or an app I recently downloaded, but is anyone having trouble "logging in" on some websites? I'll log in and it'll bring me back to the same page as though I never hit the "Login" button.

Anyone? this is really annoying, I cant access some sites because it won't let me log in.
 
I've successfully jailbroken, but cydia cant find the package for me to install MyWi.

Anyone know who hosts that package so I can add them to the sources list?

Also, if I want to try reinstalling cydia via redsn0w, does my phone just need to be connected and powered on, or off or in DFU mode or what? Maybe someone could post instructions on how to install cydia overtop of what was installed via the greenpois0n loader..

Psyched to be jailbroken, but bummed about the whole cydia thing....

Yeah I'm curious about this too.

After my jailbreak, Cydia is pretty well borked. It's not really operating as it should.

I've done a complete restore, with the loader app, but I don't want to go through this again. I'd prefer to install Cydia manually.

You need to be in DFU mode.

Just get redsn0w 0.9.7b6 and the iOS 4.2.1.ipsw file for your respective device and select install Cydia. Should be job done
 
I really want to JB, but wayyy to many issues reported by you guys, I think I may just hold out till 4.3...

installed modmyi.com/cydia source, and tried a few times and finally got it installed. seems to be working but cydia is still acting weird. glad to have mywi again.
 
Anyone have an issue with Game Center sandbox? I tried Mac b2 and Win b2 and it is still coming up. Haven't tried Mac b3 though.
 
guys i have a factory unlocked never been jailbroken Iphone 4 with 4.2.1, how do i back all my data up in case i **** up the JB? (including the unlocked basebands etc)

I had the same issue. Opened Cydia, clicked "Changes" at the bottom, then updated. Asked me to reboot and now I'm golden.
 
My phone won't go into dfu mode.... Been trying since yesterday.. I'm on someone elses computer... I'm kinda new to the jbing thing.. This is killin me .. Lol
 
after all the horrors stories i was dreading it, but it went smoothly all in one go:cool:

i think i must be the only one that really likes the skull?
 
Does anyone else have very little packages in their Cydia App?

My jailbreak went smoothly, but when i visit cydia, there's only about 30 packages there for me to install.

Some of the missing packages include:

SBsettings
MyWi
Activator

There's a ton more than that.

Do i have a problem, or is it just because Cydia's servers aren't functioning properly?


Edit: Seems to have fixed itself...

Anyone having an issue getting frozen on the skull on the inital jb? Everything runs through fine. it gets to the skull logo, spins a couple of times, then just freezes on the skull. Happened twice now. On windows with an iphone 4

You need to wait a little longer. It took me about 5 min to get past that
 
Im about to take the plunge on my 3GS--im on 4.01 now jailbroke~! Hope All goes smooth with 4.2.1 and GP jailbreak! mine is running fine but just want to do fresh install..lol! Guessing I will have to reload all my apps--probably the best thing anyway
 
I don't know this JB has a different/funny/bad vibe to it. Windows user here. I don't like the skull logo at boot up. I had to hard reset and when I did all my JB apps were gone. Just a bad feeling about this one. Phone seems sluggish too.
