Update:

Jailbroke the iPhone a second time using
GreenPoison and lo' and behold the loader
is there.

Okay, lots of pages to read -- just scanned
this page. Hope I can get help.

Just jailbroke my iPhone 4 and iPad using GreenPoison.

Jailbreak went great -- at least on the iPad. I saw
the green loader button and installed Cydia.

Not so on my iPhone. No green loader. I rebooted
iPhone and still no green loader.

Downloaded RedSnow but it's looking for an IPW
file.

Can someone post specific instructions to get
Cydia installed in the GreenPoison jailbroken iPhone?

Thanks

Download 4.2.1 so that redsn0w can find it. Intstall Cydia with redsn0w.

Your question has been asked before in this thread, the answer is that redsnow and green poison do not affect each other at all. You are only using redsnow to install Cydia, nothing else.

Hey Hack, Thanks for the response. In your opinion do you think it would be better to use RS before GP? Or does it make absolutely no diff?

Thanks in advance buddy...

Guys i need your help, when using greenpoison rc5 to jailbreak my iphone4 things go well but i get stuck after entering DFU mode, then the jailbreak process starts, my iphone screen goes black and small fonts say unable...unable... and then www.greenpoison.com?
Remains on this black screen and greenpoison says jailbreak has been complete but nothing happens it just stays there, i have to manually reboot the phone and well no loader or anything? Does this have anything to do with the greenpoison site being down? Im using a mac w/latest itunes... all that stuff.. I would highly appreciate any assistance anyone could provide.

All I can say is I haven't had any problems with greenpois0n and I downloaded it and installed within minutes of it being released. Most time consuming part was installing cydia via the loader (took almost an hour).

Your mileage may vary. Personally I think if you are already jb'd on 4.2.1 why not just wait for the 4.3 jb to come out?

Here's the rc5.2 file if people can't find it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WCHMLTG9

I'm just gonna wait for 4.3 to come out. I've been out of it for a bit, but isn't the rumor that there will be an almost immediate JB after 4.3 releases? (obviously there's no obligation to release immediately, but just from the rumors). I don't want to go through the hassle of updating to 4.2.1, JBing with potential issues, then just doing it again soon for want of 4.3

They say that 4.3 closed the bug that let them jailbreak, so I wouldn't expect a JB for 4.3 anytime soon.

I think they fixed the bug to allow an untethered jailbreak but the iPhone 4 will be jailbreakable forever until they change the hardware.

I can also confirm that Greenpois0n is running smooth now. Just finished jailbreaking my iPhone 4 and both loader and cydia installed without a hitch. I downloaded greenpois0n directly from the greenpois0n website directly, also. So far, I'm one happy camper. Glad to have my iPhone 4 free again! Thanks a lot Chronic Dev! Waiting for the initial jailbreak storm to subside probably helped out a lot in making this jailbreak work smoothly, as intended.

Does iBooks work with a DRM protected book?

unable to find fBdevList
unable to find fs_mount
unable to find fs_unmount
unable to find fb_load_file
Greenpois0n initialized.

Then.....NOTHING. Stuck on this screen.

+1.

And does Skype work as well?

Also, people have been saying that the bootlogo has been changed in this release from the "Apple" to some other custom one. Someone posted deleting a file will revert it back to the default Apple. Has anyone confirmed this?

Thanks

The screen full of text is NORMAL. That is the jailbreak process completing. You need to be patient and just let it go all the way through. Once it hits the green poison logo after the apple logo your phone will be booting up and ready for use.

Thanks for the info.

I tried again and waited a full five minutes for the green pois0n logo to appear, but no joy. Just the text was there.

The text is very small, but I read "unable to find firmware", followed by "giving up". So, that tell's me that it's failed!!

This has been covered a few pages back. Going to /usr/bin and deleting the animate file will revert back to the Apple logo instead of the skull logo.

I installed Cydia via Redsn0w and I find it a little unstable. Other than that everythig worked perfectly.

BOO YA! Worked like a charm. Feels great to be on the most recent software release... even if it will only be for another week or two :D.
No kidding. This will be the first time that I consider NOT updating to the latest firmware just because JBing has become so useful to me. I'd be giving up a lot of tweaks that make the phone work much better for me (ex. FakeClockUp).
