Tried 3 and getting the same crap from all 3... when it boots into DFU then tries to load 3 files it failes then says greenpoison initializing... and just sits there like many others have noted here.

Some people are getting this... What's was your stats before trying greenpois0n? (iphone model, iOS version, jailbreak or not, tethered or untethered)

edit: posixninja says it's normal:

@p0sixninja...here's a pic of the error (apologize for quality) http://yfrog.com/gz8vleaj by airboss1971

Didn't even get into the greenpoison part to be able to jailbreak... phone went to DFU, then 3 files failed, (bad location in commands), then says greenpoison initializing... then just sits and does nothin... this sux.

I did a completely new install. Iphone 4 Factory Unlocked (Canadian version), had 4.2.1 tethered, so did a fresh download and install of 4.2.1, then tried to JB untethered using RC5 of the greenpoison

It's normal, read my post above.

IT's normal to just sit at initializing? How long do I allow it to just sit there? And what do i do to kick it out, or will it do it on it's own? I let it sit for 5 mins then gave up.

How do I use this if I'm current using the tethered 4.2.1 jailbreak with redsnow? Do I need to restore first with itunes?

Dunno. This is what p0sixninja said. I can't try, my mac is at repair and I am running Windows.

SOLUTION: DELETE THE LINE IN THE APPLE HOSTS FILE!!!!

sudo nano /etc/hosts

just put a # in front of the last line, the GS apple line ! then rerun it!

SOLVED!

Make sure you have a clean 4.2.1 install before running GP

Anyone's Cydia working? I installed it from Loader and it will not launch. Crashes on launch. Rebooted multiple times, no luck. Anybody getting it to work? Or is the version updated for 4.2.1 not installing?

I'm still trying to get it installed... but keep having issues cause clearly there's a huge run on the servers right now. LOL, you'd think we were in line for a verizon iphone or something, sheesh, hehe

To get past the issue of "Initializing GreenPoison" do this:

Step 1. On your Mac, go to your “Applications” folder.
Step 2. Now navigate to the “Utilities” folder.
Step 3. Launch "Terminal".
Step 4. Type "sudo nano /etc/hosts" (without quotes) and hit return.
Step 5. Enter your password
Step 6. Use the down arrow key to find the “gs.apple.com” entries. Once the cursor is in front, make sure you comment out the line(s) by entering “#” in front of the text.
Step 7. Save the file by pressing CONTROL+O.
Step 8. Exit the nano editor by pressing CONTROL+X.

Now re-follow the steps of running greenpoison and you're golden!

I'm on the tethered jailbreak and not only is it stuck on that screen / not working for me, but it is telling me when I try to restore that Apple can't verify my version or something? So I can't restore my phone?
