So how much are you going to pay in total for that ridiculously expensive $849 phone? $35 x 12 + $199?

There is no $199 down-payment anymore. It went away with the old contracts and "subsidies"

Today's monthly phone payment is derived from the full retail price divided into 24 payments. There is no finance fee. My monthly phone payment is simply this:

$849 / 24 = $35.41 a month

The point is... as I stated earlier... premium smartphones have always had a high retail price.

But you never had to pay the full retail price all at once then... and you don't now either.

So I don't know why the earlier commentor was shocked by the idea of a $900 phone. They're already here... and have been here for a long time.

I still think (or rather: hope) that Apple deliberately leaked fake prototypes, so the "real deal" will be a big surprise again. It's going to be something completely different, something amazing.

... but then I woke up. *sigh*

Seriously, it would really suck to get a third Version. Don't want a Samsung-like lineup with an iPhone 6S Neo Galaxy Duos Ultra. Yuck.

Btw: What would be the sense of a Smart Connector in an iPhone?

Ugly. Ugly crap. Time to fire Ive and his staff.

I agree we are seeing the same iPhone for three years, at least in hardware specifications. Mainly it's been software enhancements. Two things I can at least speculate, Ive will not and never be fired or his staff, as much criticism he has taken lately, He is to iconic with Apple for him to be terminated. Ive was chosen by Jobs personally, so his DNA runs deep in Apple. Any other Apple Executive or employee would be likely to resign/be fired before he would.

The Tenth Anniversary iPhone, hopefully will shake the market. Apple needs a home run in the iPhone and re-gain the frustrated Mac Users with the MacBook Pro's. While the Apple Watch (Which I know how much you love the Watch bands) and iPad are great devices, it's not enough to suffice a weary customer base anymore.

In any Case, the iPhone 7 will still be a day one purchase. It should be an interesting Key Note.

999.99 USD for a iPhone 7 Pro 256GB.

I can't see that happening, $1050 at the least. Right now the plus line is:
16gb - $750
64gb - $850
128gb - $950

Now a 256gb pro will be $999?
Even if they do 32/128/256 for the plus a pro to them will demand a $100 increment. Because pro.

I pulled off the band aid three years ago and happy to be 'Pro cross platform'. Despite what fan boys from either side say, there really isn't much difference between Android and iOS nowadays with both having advantages over each other, they have both been copying from each other for ages now. The Note range is awesome with the new 7 series looking sweet. For me it's iPad for tablet, Android for phone, PC for desktop (I build my own) and Mac book Pro for laptop. Why go balls deep with one, when you can play the field?
Probably because I don't want to do deal with laggy android ever again (despite what fanboys say there is still quite a bit difference between the two. Biggest reason , my device isn't useless within a year nor does it launch with outdated software) and Mac isn't for me on laptop or Mac so I choose the best (windows). So iPhone and lumia for phones and windows for desktop and my iPad replaces my crappy nexus tablet and my surface for my main tool. Playing the field is good. But if I had to, I'm just as good in one ecosystem. Why play the field and spread myself thin when I can find the best for me and experience a cohesive ecosystem.

Very poor, same old boring Apple. Note 7 looks way better but that's my opinion so fanboys keep your comments to yourselves
And you are entitled to have your own opinion. But you have to remember that this is a site for Apple users.
And I don' t get android fans posting on apple minded forums. What is the purpose of doing that? Getting even for the last couple of years?

Ive owned every iPhone since release so my not allowed to post on here because I prefer what Samsung are now doing? Apple are going backwards. Way behind and people are starting to notice. Loads of my friends used Apple and now moved on cause they all say iOS is boring and Apple keep releasing the same phone. Each to their own.

iPhone, iPhone plus, iPhone Pro seems like a possibility.
iPhone -> iPhone plus +$100
iPhone plus -> iPhone Pro +$100
This increases the average selling price, paid by loyal iPhone buyers.

Yes, I already thought of that a few months ago. It is a shame Apple uses the same screen size for the plus and pro.
Would have loved this:
iPhone 7: 4.7 inch
iPhone 7+: 5.2 inch
iPhone 7 pro: 5.7 inch

Look at the mute switch at 0:46. I don't believe this crap.

I have just seen the video and yes look at the mute buttons especially the plus model its not sitting as it should . Also watching the video they always skip the mute button side not showing it slowly like the rest of the phone ...

Ok, thanks for the explanation. Just curious. I am not saying you are not allowed to post. But you don' t want any reaction of fanboys . So what is the point of posting then?

Very unlikely ... Top model will be beyond $999
I think a lot of consumers are in your position. What lies in place of the proposed 3.5 Jack? As of now, it's a reported second stereo speaker. But you and many others are questioning the transition to the Note 7. It's a difficult decision for some to switch and easy for others to leave.

For me, I have already accepted the 3.5 Jack will be deleted. I plan on staying with Apple and will order the iPhone 7 on day one. Apple's ecosystem and product line has me tied down. Either way, if customers do switch, do they come to the understanding most Other competitors may follow in Apple's foot steps, like the Motorola Z.

For now, it's hard to accept the change, years from now in return, maybe we will all understand and look back, understand why the change was implemented.

I dont believe competitors will follow - bluetooth for headphones is already supported for those that want to rock wireless headphones - Samsung will not omit the phone jack as the markets it serves rely on the presence of the headphone jack - Apple is being pretentious by leaving it out believing that anyone that buys an iPhone will easily switch to wireless earbuds with all the drawbacks it imposes.

For example, flying from Detroit to London is a trip that you wont be able to make without recharging your wireless earbuds and good luck connecting those to the airline entertainment system.

The likelihood of this being just another leak... in a long predictable series of Apple orchestrated "leaks" is quite high. Let's remember that this is Apple we're talking about, the Masters of Smoke and Mirrors marketing.

You make some great points. But there is no way I or you can speak for what Samsung or any other Company may do for that matter when it comes to future ideations of Cell Phones, especially when profit margins are the only thing that matters. These next two years will be a defining Time For Apple and its competitors, In terms of where the Cellular World is heading.

Wireless earbuds have upsides and downsides, we will see what alternative we have with adapters when the iPhone 7 is released. In one month we should no more.

All depends on the pricing ... but it might make sense to wait and get discounted 6s ... then just wait for the biggest  update to iphone next year -- 10 years of iPhone...

I can see the headlines, apple music and iTunes lowest sales ever due to removal of essential headphone jack.

I'm sorry but if these no headphone jack predictions and mockups are true I'm out. I'll wait until they bring it back. I'm already waiting another year to get the one after 7s or whatever it goes. The 6 plus I have is plenty good enough and until apple reduces the bezels to beat other hardware I can see a reason to get another.

Perhaps it leads to customers buying the large version rather than the cheaper small version?

I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of smaller iPhone users do so because they don't want a ****ing "phablet" instead of a phone. Hopefully the success of the SE will help Apple realise this... I doubt it though, all interesting new features for the big models only, gotta get those profits!

History repeats its self... Same thing happened in the mid 90's.

I believe its the result of no razor sharp vision at the top. The committees are making the decisions now, mostly to wring the last cent out of the products.

Companies must be dictatorships, not democracies.

At this point, Apple desperately needs a girl in jogging gear to toss a sledgehammer at the Infinite Loop cafeteria jumbotron to wake them up.

Sorry, I meant "their shouldn't be dummies 4 weeks before release, in this short time til release we have mostly seen pics from the real new iPhone and no dummies in the last years" that's why I think it's absolutely fake, also I believe that Apple don't release 2 Plus models. We will see next month.
Yeah, usually people will have their hands on the back shell or other parts of the phone as well. There is still a month before the announcement so I think they'll be genuine leaks of the final product near to the announcement. I'm more interested in the new MacBook Pros, but I hope there aren't more leaks for that so it remains a surprise.
