No... It's only "low resolution" by your definition, and for people who thrive getting into heated "my phone is more bad ass than yours" debates in high school. It's not a budget phone, though it does cost less than the flagship 6S+.
The panels on the 6SE and 6S aren't worlds apart. One is definitely a budget phone while the other pretends not to be.

Of course you don't want to debate the quality of the display. It's not an area where Apple can claim superiority.

And you want to limit the discussion to the display so you can ignore the areas where the iPhone is superior to all other devices out there. Which makes your comment sonewhat hypocritical.

Forgetting about the nomenclature of the phone, it's not known what the next iphone has or doesn't have yet in terms of the internals.

Does iphone 7 have a P3 display?
If not, why not?

[doublepost=1470604865][/doublepost]iPhone 7 is an enigma wrapped in a riddle and cash.

I'd be glad to. It's not "low resolution" as you claim. I understand you believe it is. I've yet to see where Apple has claimed superiority on that, so your mentioning that is just a straw man.

Again, I'm not into phone "competitions" as you apparently are. My phone is not something I hold out for others to see and give their nod of approval as a status symbol or object of desire, or as something to covet. I could give two trucks on what others think of my phone.

OTOH... My phone is a tool and it works great for me. It's super reliable, gets two days on a charge, has a great display and camera (have done a couple projects), integrates nicely via hand-off etc with my Mac applications, and gets frequent updates from Apple. Those are attributes that are important.

I do understand some people are competitive and into the "my phone is better than yours," or "my phone display has higher resolution than yours," etc, as it helps them feel good about themselves - and that's fine. For me? No thanks - it's just a tool, not a status symbol or something to covet...

You are aware that your posts are visible and legible without resorting to dreadful, garish colours and oversized, bold fonts?

One could say - if one were inclined towards snideness - that your posting design style is akin to massive camera bumps and unfortunately placed antenna bands. :)

Yeesh, all this talk about an "ugly, protruding camera."

First of all, it seems like once the iPhone 6 was released nobody even cared about the camera bulge anymore...

Second, would you rather have a thinner but subpar camera in the iPhone 6/7? Or a thicker, higher quality camera? I'll take the 2nd option please.

With technology, there's bound to be some tradeoffs so why doesn't everyone shut up about this tiny detail that you won't even care about in a month's time.

Attention to those details is what made Apple great, the reason no-one whined about it in the 3G, 4 and 5 is because it was well designed, now it's all compromised to make the phone as thin as possible, one consideration overriding all others. Apple got where they are now because of their excellent design, now they don't seemingly care about that fact and the competition are doing it better. People can bury their heads in the sand and pretend it all doesn't matter but other companies are now pulling ahead and complacency has been then downfall of many. We bought Apple because it was the best, I'm not sure that's the case any more.

Attention to those details is what made Apple great (...) Apple got where they are now because of their excellent design,

It should be obvious that Apple are successful due to more factors than external design.
Well documented greater considerations are intuitive ease of use, hardware-software integration, reliability, perceived higher security, after sales care. etc etc
The fact that they look and feel nice is an added bonus, but very few customers will buy - or not buy - a device because of camera bumps, thinness or other external facts.

I still use a 5 for travel, but much prefer my 6.
You seem to prefer the 5 to the 6.
Fine.

We bought Apple because it was the best.

You'll agree that you do not represent everybody, perhaps not even "we".

apple has become so boring in its design. I have stuck with them since the first phone but, man I'm thinking about going with the note 7. These 6-7 design phones look like crap, Samsung have keeps making their phones look better and what did apple do move the antenna band. Johnny Ives has lost his mojo. I bet iPhones sales will be slow this time around I think Samsung will deliver them a ass kicking

Yes, me too. I hate that to get the top specs I need to buy an uncomfortably large phone

but as of the SE you really don't.
i mean other then the Force Touch of the 6s, and the Optical image stabilizing of the 6s Plus, the SE has almost the same internals/camera. Excluding the FaceTime camera, thats the one thing i wish they would have updated, but for the small size of the SE ill accept having to keep the same quality the 5s had for a much better rear camera.
and considering i can get a 64gb model for around 500 versus 750? -250$ is a good deal for a slightly less quality FaceTime camera.
i also understand there are extra stuff added to the larger phones for a reason, you can literally fit more. jamming all this into a much smaller phone? ill take it.

That's almost entirely due to the success of Androids phablets ... You can add anything to a phone that size, even a stylus, and not be pressed for space.

Apple figured that out a little late, but now can squeeze almost anything the public wants into it without sacrificing anything -- hence the "Pro" label.

I don't think we've seen an actual leak yet, so I wouldn't be surprised if the headphone jack is only removed on the 4.7" model and not the Pro. Then again, they may well make a statement with it, even though there's no need to remove it there.

We have gone through this many a time here on MR LOL. I'm in the camp that believes those are the phones we are getting. Before acceptance there will be anger LOL.
Haha, I find myself in the same routine every year

No I've been reading / had an occasionally used account for almost 6 and a half years.
You clearly didn't read what I said properly or don't know what I'm talking about. Please read it again and see what I am actually talking about.
You sound like you're in denial. Whether you believe it's true or not, we are all looking at the new iPhone's.

I'll add that the SE is really the only "small" phone with flagship-level horsepower. It's got the same processor and the same amount of RAM as the 6S. The iPhone SE will last a while.

Sony makes a "compact edition" of their flagship phone... but its Snapdragon 810 isn't exactly a speed-demon. And nobody is buying Sony phones anyway.

If you want a small and powerful phone... the iPhone SE is a great device.

The media would have a great time with the idea that a 3.5mm headphone jack is a "pro" feature. However, I'm hoping they do it, but I'm not optimistic.

Right on, bruh - an ass kicking!

Dude, the last thing you want to do is walk around with a crap sandwich in your pocket and your tech-bros snickering behind your back.

My dos pesos? Switch horses. Just do it and get on with your life. Find some inner peace. Why go through all this angst. Head on down to the closest Best Buy, snag that note 7, and give Jony a piece of your mind letting him know you're steamed and will not take it anymore!

Haha, that's some brilliant revisionist history. Every single model has had a large vocal group of detractors. When they got leaked or mockups were posted there were a bunch of people claiming Apple would never release a phone that looks that "bad" and then continuing with the negatives well after the official product photos were released. Even for the 4.. They're only design classics in retrospect.

You shouldn't be. And that's why you have the power to choose between different manufacturers. Simply find a phone manufacturer that makes a product that meets your needs. Or, write a letter to Apple telling them what you want, and if there are tens of millions of others out there willing to pay a premium price for a small phone, they might do it. Personally I don't think there's a business case for that.

I also don't think you understand what fragmentation is and its impact. It's not an issue.

So that's your response? Buy another phone brand, yeah it's all fine so long as you get what YOU want! Your being selfish here with a confused argument that can be easily turned against you because you have no argument, your comment above proves that.

Oh I agree, which is why they won't do it, despite it being similar to retaining legacy ports as the MBP is already doing ... Incidentally I also expect the MBP to add a Lightning port, while retaining the headphone jack, and the rMB to replace it with Lightning. But that's another topic ;-)

Apple is kind of in a tough spot no matter why they're removing the jack, and keeping it on the largest iPhone would certainly help the bottom line, as well as drive customers to pay more which seems to be a goal here if the rumors are true. On the other hand, if they are removing the jack when they nor their completion have to, only to promote digital audio, then they'll probably eliminate it on everything they make.

If they go the latter route then I will be disappointed. I don't really agree with removing something they don't have to, and you'll see a flip in my enthusiasm, despite otherwise supporting the move away from 3.5mm.

Yup, and that's exactly what I would do. If Apple were to make phones that didn't meet my needs, or, if Toyota didn't manufacture the car that I'm looking for, or, if Levis all of a sudden made crap jeans, I'd simply look for a different phone, a different car, and a different brand of jeans. Easy. And I wouldn't accuse you of being selfish if you were to recommend that course of action to me - that would be silly and makes zero sense.

Encouraging others to take responsibility and look elsewhere if a company doesn't make products that meet your needs is hardly being selfish. It's simply being aware we all have choices, standing up, taking responsibility, and spending our $ elsewhere.

I get what I want by taking responsibility and making choices. You can do whatever.
