Oh look, another review. Best phone ever made..... only one bad thing to say:

As long as you stay clear of the 16GB entry models on both, which seems far too small a storage bay for what you'll end up chucking at it, you're sure to have a party.

Seems to be a common trend.
Thats bc 16GB is too small. I got my dad a 16Gb iPhone 6 because he's never had a smartphone, was still using the Razr. ALL he does is take pictures and videos, only has one app-Solitare. Ands he runs out of space constantly. He wants the 6S, and what does he want? 16gb, because its the cheapest.

My dad isn't cheap, but doesn't feel triple the storage is worth 100$. Like I'm sure MANNNYY other general users do. He's a general user, uses it for phone, texting, emails, playing one game and thats it. No music either. 16GB is a joke in 2015. Ive been loyal to Apple since 2007, but not an iSheep like some of the posters here.

Edit- I think Apple has only made 4 real mistakes with the iPhones.
1. The iPhone 4 antenna - Fixed with 4S
2. The iPhone 5 chipping - Fixed with 5S
3. The iPhone 6 bending - Fixed with 6S
4. The 16GB option in 2015. -????

You make me laugh if you don't think it is absolutely calculated by apple that people WILL get frustrated with 16GB, and upgrade to another phone. Why else would they sell it....more sales and profit right? That is all we should care about right?

How the hell does iCloud help you on a vacation out of cell range, or you don't have your laptop, or are out of data? It just takes one vacation trip with a few minutes of video to fill up your phone, and you'll realize you made a mistake. I guarantee there are many buying 16GB you don't understand the impact of the larger video sizes. They WILL buy new phones.

We are talking about buying a new iPhone when you run out of memory, not going on vacation, and taking pictures fella. Read what the person I was referring to said and I posted. Learn to read next time, fella

And some more....

  • 16GB iPhone 6S Plus isn’t going to stretch as far as it used to (compounding the argument for a 32GB minimum model).
  • In fact, many users still buy the 16GB version of the iPhone or iPad just to get the lowest price possible, even if 16GB isn’t the best storage size for most users. If anything, the 16GB iPhone is merely Apple's secret money maker that almost forces users to upgrade to the 64GB iPhone and pay $100 more for it.
  • The new iPhones are a lot faster, too, but you still get only 16GB of storage with the base model.
  • Much has been made of Apple's decision to keep its bottom smartphone tier at 16GB. This is easily one of the worst thing for customers, but also one of the best things about the new iPhones for Apple’s bottom line.
Lots of 'Buts' in there. You really think all this is all good for Apple's bottom line.

Yeah, but the point is that people want a 32GB base model because 16GB is too little and 64GB too much. No one is complaining about the existence of the 64GB model, people are (rightfully so) complaing about the absence of a 32GB model for a fair price.

64GB iPhone price is not a problem.
16GB iPhone price is a problem.

S6 doesn't even have a 16GB model.

I'm confused...how is the price of the 16GB an issue when you're arguing that it shouldn't exist in the first place?

I mean, why don't you just pretend the 16GB doesn't exist and view the 64GB as the base model?

And you should read what I wrote fella. People will be frustrated with space (pictures or whatever, on vacation or not) and will buy a new phone with more storage. This is obviously part of the plan. Guaranteed buyers remorse for many.

show your dad how to upload his photo/video on his computer. Problem solved.

He needs to do this anyway or he is risking losing EVERYTHING on his phone.

And yet the 16GB is SOLD OUT.

Sorry people vote with their WALLETS.

Wrong. They will learn how to upload their photos to their PC/Mac.

Which they should be doing anyway, or else they are risking losing EVERYTHING on their phone.

Some people just complain about EVERYTHING.

I bet if Apple did 32/64/128 there would be a bunch of complainers here that would say all they need is 16GB and feel they are getting overcharged for the 32GB they don't need.

For the record the iPhone 6s plus will be me finally submitting to the all powerful Apple UX. Though highly fond of my iPad 4, I've been a rooted, OC'd android user since 4G LTE was announced and happy enough to stay in that realm. While the world around me has turned to Apple, I am happy to make the switch at this time. I like Apple, I would like for them to continue to make money. I like for them to give consumers a good choice of options in their products. I think.. when they do it.. they do it in a way which couples ease of use with superb results and makes for a good company and product model.

Apple introduced enough "new" in 6s that it didn't have to include a 32gb baseline. As you can see by the opinions on this forum(and quoted reviews), there are some folks who are stung by this decision and I think this will begin a negative sentiment which Apple will answer next iteration by offering the 32gb baseline with OLED displays. If Apples products sucked they would have had to increase the baseline storage to compete.. but because the iOS UX is second to none and people will buy up all the supply and make due they were able to get away with the limited storage option. Also as someone pointed out 16GB is a way for Apple to expose it's iCloud storage program to a greater degree. Apple making money, people having choice.. fine by me.

No it won't. Since in both cases you will run out of space.

An extra 16GB for video is nothing. That gets you maybe 45 minutes of 4k footage.
45 minutes isn't a lot? It's more than double the 16GB (since the 16GB you only get like 12GB usable after the OS). How is more than doubling the capacity not helping at all?

If anything you are proving the point that Apple needs to increase the capacity for all their models.

You should care about Apple's margins.

If Apple's margins shrink, then Apple's profits will shrink. If those shrink the stock price will tank. You do know that 99% of the top employees at Apple get most of their compensation with stock options? In other words if the stock tanks the top employees will get huge pay cuts. They will become targets for other companies to poach.

Also Apple's high margins allow them to invest heavily in R&D, retail stores, top talent, and acquisitions. Without high margins Apple would have to take short cuts and innovation and quality would suffer.

So its pretty simple really. Do you think the extra $50-$100 to get the best is worth it? IMO, it is. Like in any industry you need to pay more to get the best. Why are Apple fans so against paying a little more for the King of smartphones?
I'm not against Apple, but all your statements would still be true with a 32 Gb base model.

Your argument is biased, with the assumption that the apple product is superior .

Let's assume people have chosen thier ecosystem, and are not on the fence, as you are.

Android entry for a premium handset is 32gb apple is 16GB, does it matter ?

Frankly many here care less about what android offers, 16Gb in our ecosystem sucks.

If apple product was $300 more, people would buy it...
Agree.

Only the unreasonable people are complaining.

They are trying to guilt Apple into saving them $100 next year. Cheapskates.
I'm not unreasonable and surely I'm not against Apple, but 650$ (it's 769€ here....) for a 16 Gb model is not acceptable anymore.

Your missing the point that a 16GB has to be backed up far far more offen....
... daily in many cases ...
Max(IT) disagreed with you Warrior. That should open your eyes that you are beyond ridiculous on this argument.
I'm an Apple supporter, but I'm not blind ....
did he grumble about 16GB last year?
Actually yes.
I think the iPhone 5S was the last iteration ok with a 16 Gb model.
Since iPhone 6 Apple should have switched to a 32 Gb base model.

Given you have no idea what that data represents, stop quoting it. Your making silly assumptions and telling others are wrong cause apple has lot of data. Yet have no idea what that is.

Using your data theory, that more data represents better decisions.....geez Google kicks butt.... Wrong....

Do you have any proof at all what the quality of apple's analytics department is? If not, stop making up facts...please.
I trust Apple 's analytics department, and I'm sure they know perfectly well that 16 Gb aren't enough.
They just want people to buy the 64 Gb model...
A 32GB phone won't help you either if you take a ton of video on vacation.

My wife used 90GB the last time we went to europe. That sounds like alot but it isn't. With 4k video thats only a couple hours of video.

You might be right that some may turn in their 16GB phones and upgrade. Thankful right now its easier than ever to do this since many plans allow you to switch phones multiple times without penalty. So no big deal.
Dude It's not all about music and videos or photos. There are also some heavy apps (even only a couple could matter) and documents.
With a 16 Gb model you are limited in every activity.
Wrong. They will learn how to upload their photos to their PC/Mac.

Which they should be doing anyway, or else they are risking losing EVERYTHING on their phone.
Again, it's not all a about photos.
What about someone needing documents with him ? Someone who doesn't care about 4K videos, but just a reasonable storage space in year 2015... And he paid an high price for his smartphone.

The point is there will be guaranteed buyers remorse. Now more than ever. This will lead to returns, exchanges, new purchases.

4k video is OFF by default.

There goes your main argument that mainstream users will run out of space because of 4k video.

If that is your only argument, you are at your wall. Have another car analogy for us?

And your argument is you think EVERYONE needs more than 16GB because a handful of tech reviewers said so?

Sorry, tens of millions will buy the 16GB like they did last year.

If anything you are proving the point that Apple needs to increase the capacity for all their models.

So then Apple should start the base model at 128GB since more is better?

Every single review so far has called it out. This will have an impact whether you choose to see it or not.

Do tell us Warrior, since you are obviously privy to Apples numbers, how many of each size were available for pre-order on the 6S and 6S+? Selling out is not an argument for speaking with their WALLET without numbers. If there are is a 3:1 ratio of 64GB to 16GB, this means nothing.

I trust Apple 's analytics department, and I'm sure they know perfectly well that 16 Gb aren't enough.
They just want people to buy the 64 Gb model...

So its bad that Apple wants people to buy their higher end models? You'd rather them make the high end models less desirable? Some people only need 16GB. Why can't you get that through your head?

Dude It's not all about music and videos or photos. There are also some heavy apps (even only a couple could matter) and documents.

You seriously think mainstream people buy 2GB apps for their phone? Or load 10GB of pdf docs? LOL. Hell no. People who do that kind of stuff know they need the 64/128 phones.

The 16GB phones are for casual users. People who only talk, text, take pictures, take a few video's, and a few apps. You'd be surprised that tens of millions of iPhone users fall in that category.

4k video is OFF by default so there is no excuse that casual users will run out of space because of 4k video. Stop worrying about how other people use their phones. 16GB works perfectly for many people.

If Apple started at 32GB they would have to make up the lost profits some how. So then we would be punishing the 16GB users who have no need for 32GB.

Even if its 3:1 ratio that is still MILLIONS of units.

If 16GB was as horrible as you say it is it would not sell out.

And I've been hearing this 16GB banter since iPhone5S. Yet every year the 16GB is the best selling iPhone. Talk is cheap. People vote with their wallet. And wallets are telling us that the 16GB phones still have a large market.

For all those who think Apple should start at 32GB please give me your storage/price tiers:

Should it be:

32/64/128
$650/$750/$850
