Thank you Baby Jesus!

This is the first time I've thanked Baby Jesus and I hope the little guy can deliver.

what happened to that March-event with actual products?

It hasn't been confirmed by Apple as of yet. It's also been a rumor that a March event may not happen due to the transition into the new facility with Apple Park. Possible April keynote. But if we don't see a rumor or invitation sent by next week or shortly after, then I believe it will be April.

Not sure why anyone would think Apple would go for a curved screen. It's just a dumb gimmick on the phones which do have it - poor ergonomics and usability for no real gain in functionality.

I seriously won't mind. The curved screens are very difficult for me to hold. I'm sure others like them but I really don't.

Patience, relax and breath. Everyone gets so worked up for a big release, then are disappointed when the product comes out and doesn't contain everything that was rumored. Lol. The new release may just fall in line like all other releases and just be a speed bump branded as iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, lol.

I said right from the off, and also explained that an iPhone would never have a curved screen like the Galaxy for the simple reason that the curved display means that no matter how you hold the phone unless you are in a pitch black room, you will always have ugly and idiotic reflections down the side. Apple would never indulge in such a borked design, it wouldn't even make it to a pencil diagram. It's so obviously dumbassed.

I actually welcome the curved display. It can add another dimension to the OS - and we all know iOS needs another dimension.
All a curved display would add is reflections all the way down the edge. It's a ludicrous gimmick that Apple would never implement. Ever.

I hope they do stick with flat, curved has no advantage whatsoever. Why would I want to look at curved pictures or videos?
Yeh, I agree! And then you would have to have a case that is curved too.
And when you put it down on a desk it will obviously rock up and down (or side to side depending on which way you have it positioned).
Curved might work for TV's but for a phone which is sometimes used on a desk top/table, not good.

Apple should stick with flat displays until technology allows for flexible, bendable, curved screens.

Curved screens are the stupidest thing to come along since mutilated bread.

What's the point??? You can't look around corners... if you want a control surface, why use a screen? It is difficult to produce and compromises the phone's structure, and allows it to get damaged easily. Absolutely idiotic ideas from tech geeks that operate in a CGI vaporworld.

Apple--wake up and smell the failure.

I'm honestly not a fan of this lineup. I think they should have just overhauled the design of all 3 phones instead of making an 'elite' one. 3 phones is already borderline overkill, but hey, alright. For small handed people, for standard and for bigger handed people (or folks who want a bigger phone).

The iPad lineup is also getting weird: 7.9, 9.7, 10.something, 12.9? I think there are too many variants.

I feel mixed about that. Sure we consume rumors, but part of me feels nostalgic for the days when we were excitedly surprised. At least there's no consensus yet. Conspiracy theorists (and they're coming out of the woodwork these days) may wonder if Apple agents themselves are muddying the rumor waters.

This, squared.

About the small high end.
Really stop..
Apple could release an updated and very good smaller iphone. But it will be impossible to have all of the features of the bigger smartphone in the smallest factor. A two lens camera in a 4 inch package? Won' t be possible untill at least 2018. Unless they will cut corners on the bigger iphone. And i would not be ok with that.

No it doesn't. The last thing iOS needs is more garbage disguised as "features". You don't speak for ALL of us lol....

He doesn't have to speak for "All" of us to voice his opinion. Just as you don't speak for "All" of us in saying he is wrong. It's a forum of community members, where each may voice his opinion.

I wish someone wound just leak some high quality photos of the iPhone 8, so that all these different different rumors cease.

What about the box....what color...will it be bright white or flat white...how big will the fonts be on the front? People need to know!!!!!!!!!!

I actually welcome the curved display. It can add another dimension to the OS - and we all know iOS needs another dimension.

That "dimension" being gimmick and novelty, things Apple are well known to dislike. Were curved screen actually conducive to adding functionality, don't you think we'd have more of them by now? Square steering wheels can also "add a dimension" to driving, but do you see them?

Other than a tricky look, what "dimension" does it add? Seems like unusable wasted pixels, lower battery life, and more $'s.

First of all I want to clarify that I mean only the edges of the display being curved down. Second I would implement a 3D Touch only parameter on said edges of the screen. With those two caveats I think it could be very useful. Not an exhaustive list, but some ideas include:
A virtual home button
Volume adjustments
Mini control center
An area for selecting menus within an app
Scrolling updates (weather, stock, traffic, etc.)
Tabs within safari or app switching

I could go on, but my point is: no I don't assume it's a good idea for literally everything, but there are some applications that I think would make an OS more robust.

Apple said the same thing about larger screens in phones, NFC, and plenty of other ideas that are now in their products. I think your confusing poor implementation with a true gimmick.
