Different Mac, no way I'm going Windows. But why would they ditch it? I'm not in a need of a computer with a build in screen since I already got one.

I agree - I hope they continue it. I think John Gruber mentioned on the Talk Show that his sources said there's a new iMac and a new Mac Pro on the horizon (though the Mac Pro is, astoundingly, a low priority) but that the Mac Mini is going the way of the Air.

At this rate in a a few years we will have the iPhone SE, SEs, 9, 9+, 9 Pro, 9s, 9s+, 9s Pro, 10, 10+, 10 pro, 10s 10s+, 10s Pro, 10 XL, 10XLs, 10 XL Pro and god knows how many other variations.

Just give us a cheaper phone like the SE, and two other sizes containing the same features, why should I be punished on features just because I don't want a huge phone.

I honestly can't see the point of a curved screen either, for the life of me I can't see any real use outside of gimmick.

Maybe you should clarify that you are not concerned about having reflections (because we already have them) but of them obscuring part of the screen.

If you don't have glass you don't get reflections... but if you don't have glass, you don't SEE anything.

You're all sad, sad little people! It's a ****ing phone. It makes phone calls that's it and yet you're all so excited about a product. PATHETIC.
Ah but it's so shiny that you have to charge it three times a day. How is that not awesome. How ungrateful can you get!

I for one hope the curved rumours and samples, were intended to start the copy machines at Samsung and send them down a rabbit hole.

You DO know that Samsung has had curved OLED screens for three years or more now right? And that they are rumoured to be the ones making these screens for the new iPhone?

Not sure what year you're living in (best guess: 2006), but nobody uses "phones" (actually pocket computers) for phone calls these days. There are things called "apps" on it, which do stuff, like twitting and bookfacing and cat videos. There's something called "App Store" that has more of them, too! There are dozens, maybe even hundreds of apps! In other news, you may be outraged to discover that iPhones do not use physical keyboards!

According to rumours, Apple have ordered plastic olmed units from Samsung, plastic units are what go into rounded screens apparently. I guess they don't have to be curved and can still be used flat. Rumours rumours rumours......

Rejoice. It's all academic. The Appleficionados will buy the next iPhone first and ask about the features afterwards regardless and pay ££££s (or €€€€€ or $$$$) premium for stuff that's been on Huwaeis Lenovos and Samsungs for years because it has that iconic Apple logo on the back. And that's all that matters, man!

Considering that Samsung's implementation of a curved screen is a gimmick, probably a good idea to keep those screens flat?

A curved display is a gimmick and would only lead to more broken screens.
All the better for Apple then, I guess..?

Does it matter? Who here is not gonna get an iPhone because the screen is flat?
The more I think about, the more I have to agree with you..

You see those hipsters from Hammerfell? They've got curved iPhones...CURVED IPHONES.
Hammerfell? Been there, got smashed, had a great time. Hammer time! Can definitely recommend!

Basically Apple is firmly on the path of hardware fragmentation. Some people still like the 4" size, but can't get current spec CPU and other options as the SE doesn't appear to be getting an update and may well have been the last of the 4" iPhones.

iPhone SE still runs the latest iOS fantastically well and out of the "big" features only misses a 3D touch. CPU-wise it is still super fit, has a great battery life & offers that good old 3.5 mm headphone jack. :)

Flat means no extra reflections.
Flat is best.

Actually, SE misses quite a bit, and in some cases, still uses older 5s technology.

[doublepost=1489314633][/doublepost]Apple needs to release a brand new iPhone in 4" size. Anything larger and heavier is a waste of space in my daily life.

What would be truly newsworthy is a foldable screen, in thirds, so you go from a device the size of an iPhone SE that folds out like a paper folded in thirds, to a screen the size of an iPad mini. Apps have three available modes, ⅓, ⅔, and the full all 3 screens. You can have split screen mode like on the iPad, but up to 3 apps adapting to their different views.

You wouldn't even have to change anything because it is the exact same way split screen works on iPad now, in thirds and halves.

Now that would be cool. That is innovation. What you described will probably happen some day, and when it does that will be a "WOW" moment just like the first iPhone, iPod, or even the first iMacs that came in multiple colors. Unfortunately I don't think Apple is going to be the ones who do it.

Ha. Say that to the zombie generation that walk down the street, through the malls, or even drive with a phone in the their face. Oblivious to the outside world.
